4. 48 hour update is here: http://imgur.com/gallery/NqCEw9x
****************************************************
3. 48 hour watch and wait.
***************************************************
2. UPDATE: It's bad, really bad. I'm about to drop money I haven't earned yet to TRY to MAYBE save this cat's life. There is so much that needs to be done, and the Dr was very clear this is something (urinary track blockage) that should have been caught in the first 24 hours.
I have to give him a fighting chance, even if it means putting him down after. I don't think I could face my kids knowing I didn't try.
***************************************************
1. Just left him at the vet for tests. I've never seen him like this- at one point he was sleeping with my son and had wet the bed. When I picked him up to put him in the carrier, he barely twitched. I thought we were losing him at that very moment. He rallied when he realized he was being put in a carrier. He barely cried. Really hoping it's something easily solved with abx like a uti. There's so much more but I don't want to talk about it.
Begging good vibes, fairy dust, whatever you choose. My kids and I have raised him from 4 months after rescuing him. He's just a big 3 year old baby.
Trying not to overthink.
AvgWhiteShark
Mom's cat had the same thing. She is a senior cat and pulled through. I hope it's the same case for yours.
haitamimama
Oh, the poor baby!! Daughters kitty had a blocked urethra. Lucky we got him to the vet in time. Sending good vibes!!
kimizilla3
I am so so sorry. My fur baby went through this about 3 months ago. We were very lucky with him, but man. I am sending good vibes to you.
LittleThunderfoot
Thank you
Ilikebattleships
I'm sorry your kitty feels crummy, hope it goes well.
LittleThunderfoot
Thanks me too
superanth
Keep us apprised.
LittleThunderfoot
Will do
ebysta
My kitty had the same thing a few months ago, and he's okay! Ask about CareCredit - you may be able to finance it w/ 0 interest for 6 months
ebysta
I slept on the floor w/ him while he was recovering/isolated from our other boys; him wetting himself broke my heart. Sending good vibes <3
LittleThunderfoot
Thank you
CuteLukePatoot
Poor baby, hoping the best for him, & encouraging you to post a crowd-fund page, regardless the outcome. I'll absorb the downvotes for you.

Hope all works out for your little buddy.
LittleThunderfoot
Thank you so much
EnigmaNL
He's a young boy, chances are he's going to make it just fine! My cat (male) had this too when he was 5, it looked bad but he made it!
LittleThunderfoot
Ok, thank you. That's encouraging
mrshinethediamond
My cat and I are sending you and yours good wishes!

My cat was the same. Had the blockage surgery and was fine afterwards .. hoping your cat has the same success.
LittleThunderfoot
Thank you
PickleYouKumquat
My cat had a urinary block as well (crystals). Worst day ever. He was at an emergency vet for 24 hours +. The did a procedure to break (1/2)
PickleYouKumquat
(2/2) Everything down and put his on a bunch of drugs. Took about a week but he recovered just fine. I hope everything goes well!
westonDancer

westonDancer

westonDancer
I cried for 3 days he was a very good beautiful cat and was only 2 years old I will miss his nidding on me and always calmed me down
LittleThunderfoot
Oh honey I'm so sorry. Mine always know when I'm down. I don't want him to go.
Megvilla
Praying for your cat. I hope he pulls through.
dustinB420
"The solution to pollution is dilution". Basically, get enough liquids in with every meal and it helps dilute the crystals. They hate /1
dustinB420
Watered down food and pee a ton more but it's worth it! Always feed them wet and and a half can of water to each meal. Good luck!!
LittleThunderfoot
Thank you
szepasszony
I was where you were at a few years ago. Worked out, now just have to give the cat a special diet.
DewiMorgan
Put down my cat for this same thing, a few months back. NOT easy, even seeing how much pain he was in. I'm so sorry.
LittleThunderfoot
Thank you
BettyWhiteSupremacy
Cats are fighters. They’re capable of more than you know. A hole in your pocket is more than worth it for their love. All the best OP x
LittleThunderfoot
Thank you
BettyWhiteSupremacy
How’s he doing now? Any improvement?
LittleThunderfoot
Hi- they say he's doing pretty good. Ate and drank a little. Today they're going to run another panel and see how his #s are doing.
ajkingbolt
Please keep us updated. Hope he’s doing ok :)
BettyWhiteSupremacy
Good news. Fingers crossed he keeps improving x
ShutUpIsThereCakeHere
Check the food!! My 12 year old cat needed surgery to remove remove a kidney stone "sludge" in his bladder. Dr says medicated food for life
ShutUpIsThereCakeHere
I was feeding him generic weight-loss food from the grocery store. Dr suspects that was the cause
LittleThunderfoot
I grew up feeding our cats the feverish store bought and this is the first time ever I've run across this issue. I do think it's the food
sloomoo
Some cats can't handle the mineral content. I've only had 2, sissy only 1, out of many cats. all males. all our other cats had no issues.
BklynGirl
what are the symptoms of this?! I have an elderly cat and would like to keep an eye out for this. also, I hope your buddy pulls thru ❣
LittleThunderfoot
Lethargy, crying, blood in urine, decreased appetite, incontinence
sloomoo
also spending a long time in the litterbx in the pee position without any output and sitting with the nethers on a cool surface
SleepyKitten
You've done good, you've done everything you can for now. Hoping for the best for him! We've been there countless times, too.
LittleThunderfoot
Thank you... in the vet's hands now.
Greymizz
Same w/my Maine Coon, there is a surgery that will prevent it in the future. Not pretty but worth it Basically turns his penis inside out.
haitamimama
Yeah. Basically angioplasty for the urethra
SleepyKitten
nicoleoftheeast
My cat had urinary crystals so bad we had to spend 4 grand to have his penis removed. Full recovery though. Healthy and strong 4 years later
LittleThunderfoot
Oh my goodness. I never knew this was a thing
toastfrancaise
When he makes it through, and has special food, DO NOT try to change his food once he’s better. He will block again if you change it.
LittleThunderfoot
Ok thank you
GinTea
Wish you all the best! Our handicapped cat is on an urinary diet, as she tends to develop crystals(=blockage) due to her messed-up spine
GinTea
(assumed nerve damage), but she always pulls through. Have heart!
LittleThunderfoot
I'm trying. First time today I've cried, now that the kids are asleep.
GinTea
You are so strong & doing so well!
XanderCorsaj
Whatever the outcome, be proud that you tried your very best. People who go out their way to help an animal are the utter best, in my book.
LittleThunderfoot
I'll try, thank you
Foxcross
Try a go fund me for the kitty
CuteLukePatoot

LittleThunderfoot
Oh, I don't think I could... there are so many people who need it so much more. I'm working my a* off for the next few days. ?

Good luck - we lost one our kitties, Fang, after a bladder blockage. I hope you got him in in time, and his kidneys are still working.
LittleThunderfoot
Fingers crossed
hamburgersandfuriousanger
We just scheduled our Milo to be put to sleep, fuckin’ vaccine cancer.
LittleThunderfoot
I'm so so sorry
GinTea
You too?!!! Thought it was so rare. Ours had the same (thanks UK rabies-insanity)! Had tumours removed every 2-3 years until it got between
GinTea
the ribs & was too difficult to remove. My heart goes out to you, it fuckin sucks
sloomoo
I had 2 with that. Catheterized to drain bladder, 1 guy I had to squeeze his bladder twice a day for a week, antibiotics, . Good /2
sloomoo
kitty, didn't fight, def didn't like it. (Italy, 35 yrs ago) special diet after that. Other guy, caught it earlier, knew signs, cath'd /3
sloomoo
then special diet. Sister's cat, emergency vet visit, 2 day stay, $1100 and a relapse, $700, later good with special diet.
LittleThunderfoot
Survived?
sloomoo
enjoyed about 8 more yrs was grown when we got him. Other cat also lived quite a while. Sissy's cat 4 yrs old now. Good health, /2
sloomoo
Desperately wants to eat the other cat's regular food.
LittleThunderfoot
Vet has told me if he pulls through then we'll be on a special diet. Better fancy food than more of these visits.
sloomoo
you can ask you vet about payment plans, mine will let me put a substantial (300 or so) down, with regular payments. been with them for /2
sloomoo
years, tho, so they trust me some. Some have donors that will help with cases sometimes.
TheMadOnion
My cat nearly died a year ago, something went wrong with her liver her eyes were yellowing. And basically at that point it's very unlikely /
TheMadOnion
That they won't make it, plus it was just tons of money I couldn't afford hospitalization and everything. My vet decided that he wasn't /
TheMadOnion
Will make it*
TheMadOnion
Going to let this cat die. so he did everything pro bono, cat was hospitalized 3 weeks and she pulled through. Shame more aren't like that.
LittleThunderfoot
A friend said I should ask if there were any donors/scholarships (?) put aside for times like this but the vet had already told me to do 1/
LittleThunderfoot
Care credit. So I guess that was a no. I've been working on rebuilding mine and I don't have enough yet to qualify.
TheMadOnion
Probably for the best. Those kind of loans tend to be super predatory knowing that you'll almost certainly sign them if you have no choice.
