10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Coelacanth was so big, there was a commercial about it.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Imagine how exciting it must be to be a zoologist finding one of these. You must be the Beyoncé of the biology world for a hot minute.

We have Tyrannosaurus Rexes running around in our county in Ky. Had no idea they were supposedly "extinct' until informed. Make great pets.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's Relicanth!

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Like some sort of coelacanth relic. Or a relic coelacanth, if you will.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just hope there is an island full of dinosaurs.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was going to ask if it was by choice, but it never is,(looks away at sunset and whispers while tear sheds) it never is.

What @OP is basically saying is, just get your sex life declared extinct then WHAM, BAM, thank you Greenpeace.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, imagine a world without OP's sex life.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How did Laos lose a rock rat for 11 million years?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They never checked behind the sofa.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That should be the first place anyone checks.

I don't think you understand what extinct means. ..

10 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 10

It's a joke. ..

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

That's why the title says "extinct."

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Actually, I think OP perfectly understands that. They were classified as extinct, that's the point (and reason for the quotes).

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

nope, but people said it was officially extinct until it was rediscovered.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was going to say something about OP's sex life but you did it yourself...well done!

"My Sex Life". - That just wrapped this post up very nicely!

10 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

We didn't even get a chance, he literally made that joke for us. If this trend continues, people will start dissing their own moms soon.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I've been dissing my own mum before it was cool.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yeah, well, My sex life is like a magical unicorn, so fuck you, OP.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, he did do it himself...

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This would make a great coffee table book. Are coffee table books still things, or did we leave that in the 90's?

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Coffe table books extinct?!?CALL THE MEDIA!!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe we'll rediscover them in 2062 :)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 3

Just let him have his lay! Bro code man. Sleep in the couch tonight. He would do the same for you.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Inconsiderable!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well to be fair, they were classified as extinct. Not "couldn't find one"

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

classified as extinct, but were they? No. And op didn't say "couldn't find one" either

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want a Crested Gecko now

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They look kindof like bernie sanders to me.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You my friend appear to have a baby dragon not a gecko

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

,

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They are so cute. My sister breeds them!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And delicious.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have one too! His name's Young Money. /a/dluIH

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Will they eat the spiders in my house though?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Spiders eat stuff far worse then them.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

but you need spiders in your house to get rid of the creepier stuff in your house.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My two cresties Frodo and Sam:

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Your tiger looks like mine! But with some of that partial pinstripe. Nice animals :)

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Here's my female Selene

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Your username gives me questions.

10 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 0

Ok ok...I was drinking, Steve Irwin was on, and thought it was a name you guys might laugh at. I also get he wasn't 69ing a sting ray

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They have no teeth, only two bony plates they use to crush the crustaceans they eat.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I liked where that was going with "no teeth", but then "crush" really killed the mood.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

At least seven questions.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

I thought it said "Never 69 Astin Gray". I figured that was a dude I should stay away from

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

:)

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Very cool! Geckos are the shit. Although some of them can be assholes haha. Your's doesn't seem to mind being handled.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They do take a bit of time to wind down. They are nocturnal too and can be a little skittish at first. All about how often you handle them:)

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

truth. I rescued a subadult crestie who was never handled. Worked with her for a couple weeks, now she sits on my hand without a problem

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's awesome! Did she keep her tail? Do you know if she is a she? Ladies are tough to get!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yup, she's all in once piece. She's about five inches long (nose to end of tail) and I don't see a bulge, so I'm leaning towards female

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I've never come across a mean one, and I worked in a pet store for 3 1/2 years. I also have one but he's a lumpy lazy pile of lizard lol.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

When I said 'Geckos are the shit, although some of them can be assholes" I meant geckos in general. There are some aggressive species 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

of geckos, as I'm sure you're very well aware 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So I guess they are not only not extinct but there are enough of them out there to be kept as pets. So why it took that long to find them?

10 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Woops. Meant it as "extinct"

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Their rediscovery prompted breeding efforts to help their numbers. Some lines made it out into the pet trade. They're super easy to breed 1/

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well axolotls are nearly extinct in the wild. Huge captive population though.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think it's because they had become extinct on one of the islands and were rediscovered when biologists checked out other areas/islands.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

They were rediscovered after a heavy rainfall. Turns out the little bastards were everywhere, people were just looking in the wrong places

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

and relatively easy to care for so captive breeding is common. They're still listed as vulnerable and illegal to remove from the wild.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Because there's more than 1 species and subspecies of crested gecko.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That was my guess too.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But yea, quite a few were brought back to Germany and the US and after a couple gens, they have been successfully bred for the animal trade

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Different species of leopard gecko i think. Common names are a bitch.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

crested gecko* not leopard.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea, they are definitely different. Both geckos though

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, she knows what she's saying. Crested geckos (Correlophus ciliatus) not leopard geckos (Eublepharus macularius).

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I know that. Im saying there is more than one type of crested gecko I think.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not really sure tbh. But being easy to keep and breed, I'm sure they'll keep getting more and more popular. Kinda like ball pythons.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This. The fact that they are so easy to keep and breed means their population has exploded. Plus, they're adorable.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Wait til someone posts one with his tongue out :)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My friend breeds them. Hatchling cresties will make grown men squeal like little girls with how cute and tiny they are.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who the hell 'saw' the last coelacanth in the cretaceous period?

10 years ago | Likes 402 Dislikes 10

It could have said " last seen in fossil form in the year ???? by ?archeologist? in the plains, plateaus, sahara of sub south earth. But

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was kinda what I wanted to point out, but it seems some people don't get the sarcastic semantics of my question.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Thought so.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"My hypothesis is that this fish went extinct because it was on land"

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It was recently caught off the coast of Japan . . . or Africa . . . or Holland . . . maybe.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The fish market had actually been selling them f or years. Paleontologist walked into the fish market and freaked out.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Atlantis is a great documentary on the subject, if you're still curious

My last overnight date, probably. Damn OP rubbing it in my face.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably the archaeology that uncovered its fossil.

10 years ago | Likes 173 Dislikes 4

It seems I must clarify my earlier question, who the hell 'SAW' the last coelecanth IN the cretaceous period? A: no one without time travel.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 32

B: someone with time travel.

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Who the hell saw the last T-Rex? See how much sense that makes? Most of the time if it has fossilized then it's probably dead.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I assume anything fossilized is dead but that's just my two cents. I mean.. You wouldn't think fossils could breathe.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's pretty clear that, if there's fossil evidence for a creature which every biologist ever is certain is not alive since then, that counts

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2
