First time I experienced ABS under heavy braking was to avoid running a red light in front of a cop. Shout out to whoever invented ABS.

Fun Fact: ABS was never made mandatory for cars in the US, however, stability control was in 2004, and ABS unit is part of stability control

ABS actually increases braking distance somewhat. The difference being that you can still steer!
