The camera snaps 2 images when it detects movement. First image snapped at 2:15am

Second image, again at 2:15am. There appears to be something on the otherside of the glass door in the hallway. To me it looks like a figure of some sort. I can definitely see the eyes, head & body.

This third image is just to show what it looks like in the daytime with the door open.
I live in an old English cottage built in the early 1800's. The only strange thing that happens with the exception of this is that the upstairs sink tap is often running when I arrive home from work.

Close up image of the door.

Just had to read this half past midnight

My reaction to the last picture.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now I'm fucking paranoid, as soon as I'm about to go off to sleep.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

@OP It's light coming in from the window on the left, reflecting off the door: does the window face a street?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe a nosleep post?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I didnt really want to sleep so, jokes on you

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@op is either dead or has now infected us transferring the curse.

Put salt lines at all of the windows and doors and just to be safe, burn down your entire house.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

salt wont help against the old man http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-106

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

more like the ghostbusters

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If there's such a thing as ghosts then I figure we have to treat them like dust mites: They're everywhere and we can't do anything about it.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I waited for the first gif to load before realizing it was a photo

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Same.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's just me, OP. I like to watch you while you sleep. And gently stroke your hair. In my mind we're the best of friends.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

We have a tendency to see faces. It's innately human. People who don't have a cognitive disorder, prosopagnosia.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Hello I would like one cognitive disorder please

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck you. I'm too stoned and alone for this.

Our brains are so good at detecting patterns - especially faces - that we spot them where they don't exist, and get unnerved if they're off.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Probably just a passing car light, though your brain's pattern recognition is fucking with you - google 'Uncanny Valley'

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun fact! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

that's cool and all but i'm not really seeing a face there. just the light and that the monitor picked up movement intrigue me.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But @OP is seeing a face, and that link helps to explain why.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I see it too.

9 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 1

I'm disappointed that it wasn't Cera

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Zordon?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Steven Segal?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't make it out, who'd you put in there?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm just going to go on believing it's tim allen

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think its the face from the picture frame in the window in the 3rd pic

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was expecting Javert

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm disappointed it's not peyton manning

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i thought this said "my pet cat caught something strange" and was looking for the cat in every picture for way too long

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ran them through an image difference detector. You're welcome. Changes marked in yellow.

9 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 2

That is super cool. Thanks.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

nope.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Oh, that makes it totally not unnerving

9 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

So, i still dont see anything different

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This makes it look like it is just a light change, it was creepier before. thanks for ruining my emersion

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

You are very welcome. I try my best.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Any windows facing/angled toward a street in that room, @OP? Could be a car's headlights reflecting off something in a weird way.

9 years ago | Likes 184 Dislikes 2

Yeah that's my thoughts

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ding ding ding: Notice how bright the window on the left is, and the reflection on chair/right wall

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Depends on how thick the curtains are

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I once had a job debugging motion activated CCTV algorithms. This is what the problem is 90% of the time.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

But what was the other 10%? Zombies or fleas and tics?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stuff from the paranormal activity franchise

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People like you are why i dont believe in ghosts. Thank you

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Look at the window to the left. It's clearly being lit up.

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Yes, there is a small window on the front door which is just to the left in the hallway out of shot. But I am still unsure

9 years ago | Likes 59 Dislikes 0

If you're really curious, maybe have someone drive by at night and see if the light tips anything off?

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Hey @OP haven't heard from you in 7hrs. Are you okay?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Black out the window and leave a lamp in the far back corner so the next time you have light to see the demon...

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

What about the light source behind the left window that isn't there in the first picture?

9 years ago | Likes 495 Dislikes 7

I think you just made OP's day. He won't need to burn down the neighborhood after all.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I more worried about the 3rd picture. I mean there wasn't a beat in the fist 2 how did it get there

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's obviously just a reflection from the clown ghost thing

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dam Velma you solved the case. Good eye.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good eye!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

good eye, it could be a passing car adn the change in lighting is causing it to trip the sensor. it happens at my work with hanging flags

9 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 0

Good catch

9 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

I think there may be a car turning in the street. It could just be the concoction of passing light and windows that's creating this image.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Time to investigate. Lets see if it happens when the curtains are closed. Its been 10 months. Nevermind

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

but still that light wouldnt have been able to hit the door unless it was reflected off something else

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

It's coming from the UFO.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's why he door is opened in the lit up picture. So we can't see that it has no windows.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I think there is just nothing visible for the light to bounce off of in the first pic. The only thing highlighted after, is "the object".

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

light is coming in from outside the window in the second pic, would light up the next room too.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think it's shopped because the door in the light up picture doesn't look like it has windows. It just looks like a regular wood door.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

You're right that the door looks like it has no windows but probably wrong that it's 'shopped. The light just reflected off of the door.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then another photo must be shown to sway me. I'm still calling no windows on og door.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

So was I, but with no 'shop. I was arguing that those panels on the door are not windows, although after revisiting the photo I doubt myself

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup and you can see light entering the other room from the same angle in the daytime pic. I'd say a car passing shining light into far room

9 years ago | Likes 181 Dislikes 0

But the curtains are closed

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

How do we know they are closed in the other room?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

To add to that the wall on the right in the lower pic has a bright steak on it, suggesting light coming in from that angle.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

SOLVED ==> I ran the photo through a few algorithms. The initial image with adjusted levels [brighter].

9 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 2

Then I zoomed in on the area and adjusted the darks in the blue channel

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 2

I got scared and then laughed at this ridiculousness!

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Finally, cranking up the saturation on the image in 32 bit mode revealed the culprit:

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 2

Dang, I expected Dickbutt.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well played my good sir, well played

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Terrifying.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Damn you. I was interested

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn it, you really had me there
