This is cool and great that ppl can have this as an option, but dont tattoos fade over time? How often would they have to get this touched up? And doesn't scar tissue often not take well to tattoo ink?

Very mental tattooing your own face.

Not all heros wear perfect skin.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is amazing.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How fucking bad would tattooing burn tissue be? I imagine excruciatingly painful

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's amazing! I've got a bleach-white scar on my face, I wonder if something like that would work. I even had 'cosmetic' surgery on it, just turned it from a hideous blotchy scar to a normal straight scar, not too impressed. Shingles scar btw. Get your vaccines.

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I would, but they won't give the shingles vaccine to you until you're 50+. So it's a waiting game.

Don't tattoos fade? I have so many questions.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Amazing

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's Fantastic! Bravo!

Right now a whole bunch of cosmetic surgeons are going, “Hmmmm!”

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This is genius, put to the service of unlucky ones. She deserves so much respect

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Getting a tattoo over scar tissue is. Whole new level of pain.. and on your face‽ what a badass.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's amazing! It looks so good!

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow! That is awesome

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fkn wow! Thats awesome

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fucking badass. She COULD just get into super advanced makeup tutorials, maybe make a career hawking products on her channel, but no, she TATTOOS HER MOTHER FUCKING FACE. Metal.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is a great idea! But just putting this out there, wouldn't it be a problem if you ever got a tan?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Scars and sun don’t mix well, I’m sure shade and SPF are a must.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Big bucks and extreme pain for what is, at best, a temporary "solution". Convenient that they don't mention how often you'll need to repeat the process (and the costs) in order to preserve the effect.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Tattooing scars are very difficult in my experience. The scars tissue like to reject the ink, so you have to go really deep and thorough with it. It's more painful than usual tattooing, and even then, you usually need a touch-up after it heals to make it stay. Huge props to her, and anyone else who goes through that procedure.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is she also after the avatar?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can't just tattoo over a scar, what the fuck. This is not how tattoos or skin work, not at all

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

That is what her plastic surgeon said — which is why she started doing what she is doing. It is all in the links from OP, or in The Great Big Story short about her: https://youtu.be/Yw8wVtjvF8c

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Well, yes and no. You CAN tattoo over scar tissue in many cases (although it's not easy and you need someone who knows what they're doing). That said, what the lady is doing here isn't like a traditional image tattoo you might get at your local tattoo parlor, it's more of a 'scar camouflage' treatment with "permanent pigmentation of the dermis" (i.e., similar to, but not exactly like, a 'traditional' tattoo). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permanent_makeup#:~:text=and%20to%20disguise%20scars

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Have actually looked into this whole thing, they're using a combination of methods, primarily a steroid injection.

2 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Wanted to follow up on your comment because you are exactly right. Care to share any of the info you found? Micro needling has been shown to improve scar tissue over time, but in some cases it can make things worse. Now im super curious

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

What Basma here is talking about is more akin to permanent makeup, which is technically a form of tattoo ("permanent pigmentation of the dermis") but it's not the same type as used for, say, a design you might get down at your local tattoo parlor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permanent_makeup#:~:text=and%20to%20disguise%20scars

I was certified in micropigmentation in 2003 by a permanent makeup artist in Atlanta that had been teaching for over 20 years. She was adamant about helping people like herself with makeup allergies. She was also the first person I knew to really advocate for the benefits of red light therapy. I’ve helped recreate missing areolas, alopecia patches & skin affected by vitiligo, all by hand- no machines. I apprenticed over 1yr. I have an intimate understanding of the mechanisms at work here.

I have vitiligo. I need her help

2 years ago | Likes 264 Dislikes 4

Man, I think vitiligo looks freaking beautiful. Obviously, your body your choice and I can't relate to what it was like for you growing up with it, but just wanted you to know I and many like me think you have an exceptionally beautiful feature.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's basically permanent cosmetics (which is technically a form of tattoo) that she's talking about. Might be worth looking into to see if it'd work for you? For the record, she didn't 'invent' this idea, as it's been around a while. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permanent_makeup#:~:text=and%20to%20disguise%20scars%20and%20hypopigmentation%20in%20the%20skin%20such%20as%20in%20vitiligo.

Dear fellow vittili... vittilligist? Vittilogian...? Food for though - In my case I dont think this would help, since my pigmented skin changes a lot from summer to winter. I am very pale by default though, but if I had this treatment it might look evenly coloured in summer, but I would get an inverse patterning in winter.

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I can understand your desire to blend in, absolutely. And I hope you can get modified if you want to. Having said that, I wish more humans had cool color variations like yours.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I wonder though if you have vitiligo from scarring if the damage from the needles during the tattoo process wouldn't increase the vitiligo instead of covering it. Not sure at all, just a thought.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Vitiligo is beautiful, as are you. Not that I'd say don't get it covered if you really don't like it.

2 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I know I have no right to say this, I have no idea what it feels like, but I've always found vitiligo so beautiful, and it makes me sad anyone is made to feel bad about it.

2 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

I don’t have it so I can’t say what it’s like to be you. But I’d say if it makes you feel that way, then society needs help.

2 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 7

Have you not met society?

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

*Looks at Society. Looks at BladeRan. Looks back at Society. Ummm about that...

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I have dick/hip vitiligo and teenager me might have wanted this, but adult me is happy I didn't have this option. I realize it's different where it manifests itself and the privilege that I can socially hide mine, but I hope you or someone else in your life can help you see the beauty in our weird skin pigmentation condition.

2 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Can you explain this specific vitiligo. Is this the one where your dick is two colors, seen it in a porn before. This particular one was white top third and darker bottom 2/3rds. Didn't know it was vitiligo, just thought he messed it up yanking too much when younger.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Just spotty albino like areas where even the hair grows white. It's random and not confined to specific sections for me. 3 spots on my right hip as well. So far that's all I've got, but I know more can show up as I age. Vitiligo likes extremities, so hands/feet/face/genitals are common. When I was a teenager it really fucked with my self confidence because I thought no girl would see my dick and not freak out. But I was wrong and some girls actually took a specific liking to my cow dick lol

2 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I think vitiligo looks so fucking cool. And yes, I do accept dick pics.

Did you try Opzelura yet? I’m on it now but haven’t noticed any repigmentation yet.

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

The side effect list for that is one of the most horrific I've ever heard.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The side effects listed are for the oral version of it. They're required to put it on even though none of those effects happen with the cream version. Opzelura is generally considered very safe and I prescribe it freely. I'm a dermatologist with no conflict of interest. Give it a try!

2 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

True, no side effects for the topical version so far.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That fuckin rules, tattooing your own face? Then using that to help others with THEIR traumatic scarring? That's badass

2 years ago | Likes 937 Dislikes 0

Also very technically impressive. I don't know much about tattooing but I've heard scar tissue is very difficult to work with

2 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

And it looks really good!

As I was reading the image I thought “man, that fucking rules. I should make a comment” and scrolled down to see you read my mind haha. Totally badass thing to do.

Same vibe as tony Iommi of Black Sabbath making himself a prosthetic fingertip that enabled him to play guitar because they didnt exist. But now they do based on his groundwork

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That also absolutely rocks

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

still, would be nicer if people just stopped tossing acid on womens faces.

2 years ago | Likes 141 Dislikes 17

My cousin had a bad cough and really needed a sip of water so he took my grandfather's water bottle and poured some down his throat, only, it wasn't a bottle but a thermos which had boiling water. One of the stupidest bad injuries that I have seen in my childhood.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This is also true, but their are other reasons people get burn scars. And loads of other scars that she can cover.

2 years ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 0

Including this instance itself; the linked site in the post says she got her scars from an accident. So that guy just made a racist assumption based on her appearance and name alone

2 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 4

Oh even better!

2 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

So from the project's website it mentions that she was involved in an accident at age 2, so I'm not sure why you're bringing that up? Are you just making assumptions because of her name?

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

there were a name mentioned?

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 16

Yeah, her name is in the original post. Are you lost?

2 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

I didn’t realize her name was in the website URL and they don’t mention her name in the photo text, so I don’t think it’s that unreasonable… also most of the burn scars like that I’ve seen on women are from acid retaliations that we all know are far too common. No need to be so rude.
