They can create web, however it cannot support their weight if they were to dangle from it. They just spittle web to deck out the crib

Also, neat thing, when they are slipping on a vertical surface they can create web from their feet for a suction-cup effect thing :D

Large insects and arachnids "shatter" is they fall and hit hard surface. Kinda like us breaking bones, but they also spill their guts. :/

Tarantulas' abdomens can be very sensitive especially if it's just eaten, and a fall that high probably crushed it.
