Can you make scale armor from these?

Now that's a beautiful art piece! Could sell that for some major cash ?

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Can you wear those longer than a day?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I sure do. I was just thinking how wasteful this was.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

If you wear monthlies then sure, if you wear daily disposables then you're an idiot. Sauce: Worked for 8 yrs in an opticians.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That title sentence gave me brain cancer

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Thanks I can’t believe I had to come this far down for this comment.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You know they make daily contacts, that won't use a fuck ton of plastic, they're called glasses.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Some people’s prescription is so strong that they can’t see as well with glasses as they can with contacts.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

British story a year ago, woman kept adding lenses, not removing any. Pain drove her to ER: they removed 14 or so!

7 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Didn't she have some kind of dementia too?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dont touch. That is an unbelievable amount of human surviving bacteria you've grown there.

7 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 2

Bacteria is literally everywhere.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Maybe lick it a bit? Just a small taste.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Bacteria require moisture to survive. That's why toilet seats and other dry, non-greasy surfaces are not an infection risk, regardless of...

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

what they might have come in contact with.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

OMFG I haven't heard such ignorance in a VERY long time. Dude, Science look it up. PLEASE before you get sick.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

A damp towel or kitchen sponge contains oodles of rapidly multiplying bacteria. Dry surfaces do not. Repeat after me: Bacteria need moisture

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Care to back that up with a link or two, or do you have nothing but ad hominem attacks to offer?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-20324304 The exact same thing applies to long-dried out contact lenses.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Am I the only one who hates wearing contacts?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hate having to wear contacts, but only wearing my glasses will accelerate my already deteriorating eye sight.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really? Is that everyone?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly, I'm not sure. I have an eye condition called keratoconus. Basically, my corneas are shaped like cones instead of footballs, so I

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

need hard contacts to flatten them out so I can see and have normal peripheral vision.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's.. Fucking disgusting

7 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 4

glad to hear im not the only one extremely grossed out by used contact lenses, much less old ones kept in a jar.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The thought of any sort of garbage remaining bedside for a year and half makes me queasy.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

My best friend had a girl housemate for a year who didn't throw away used pads, they just got tossed under the bed.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

God fucking damnit why did you tell me that!!!

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Because I don't want to suffer alone

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

THE SMELL!! Not to mention... OMFG! **GAG**

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wear "dailies", too, but don't replace them every day. This is crazy to me.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

It's all fun and games until you get a corneal ulcer

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As myself and my optometrist already know, I've had zero issues since 1995. Think I'll listen to my optometrist, thanks.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah good idea, they designed the devices. And they can treat your corneal ulcer if it comes up. And eyes don't age. Or not? U got this

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do... do you think I stopped going to the optometrist in 1995?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No...nope. As eyes age they produce lower quality/less tears, a.k.a. length of time means less. For your sake, hope your luck continues

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wear monthly and get about 90 days per pair with no problems. Clear Care is secret!

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Careful- I do a similar thing and said so elsewhere on this thread. Received assumptive rant about being an "idiot". SMH

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

had contacts for 30 years-multiple optometrists are unable to see any buildup on the lens at 60-90 days, many said weekly/daily is a scam 1/

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And that they are all made of the same material.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nearly *exactly* my experience. I take my eyes very seriously. Made a comment about how I don't always just wear dailes for just a day1/

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I swear by Clear Care. Recommend it to everyone I know who wears contacts.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Me too! It’s like putting on a new pair every day

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They make these great permanent glasses you can take off at night too

7 years ago | Likes 401 Dislikes 22

When you have 20/800 vision, glasses are impairing because you can't see anything beyond the edge of the lenses. No peripheral.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

they help hide the bags under your eyes if you party late..or are just getting older like me :)

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

And crow's feet too! I love my glasses!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use mine to hide bags and just hide period

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I run in to door facings and walls when I wear my glasses. No peripheral vision. I also trip down stairs. My contacts keep my alive. :-)

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Don't know why anyone would downvote this. You just said a thing that is. + 1 from me because my wife is the same.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Does somebody want to tell this guy why instead of downvoting? Cuz I know the standard "landfill ends up in ocean" but im not an expert.

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 4

Thanks for letting us know! I've always wondered if this was possible

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I use monthly day/night ones. Far less hassle.

7 years ago | Likes 210 Dislikes 8

Monthly ones i found to be a pain the arse; could never just collapse on sofa/bed after a long day to doze off.... well i could, i’d just /1

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use fortnightlys. But I'm poor atm so they're 3 monthlys. So far lol.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wake up to the lenses stuck to my eyeballs and had to peel them off. /2

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For me, after just a few days of using/cleaning the monthly/weekly ones they became too uncomfortable. I had to switch to daily disposables.

7 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

I got a free trial pair that were supposed to last a week and I kept them for almost 2 years. My eyes probably hate me, but it didn't hurt.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm on like 6 months of the same monthly ones... Lol but I can tell I need some new ones soon

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't take the monthly ones out until I need new ones. Sometimes a couple months later

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't use the cheap lens solution.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh gee I sure wish I would've thought of that before. I was just using sand and hot sauce.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wear my biweekly ones without discomfort about 1mo-2mo per pair. Oops.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Same, they're expensive and they still feel fine after 2 weeks

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah same, overnight too.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I did that- til I almost went blind in one eye. Multiple corneal ulcers, infection. Permanent scarring. 0/10 do not recommend.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean, can't speak for anyone else, but I try to clean them on a daily basis and replace them if they still feel odd after re-cleaning

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No way I'd sleep in my contacts for a month. That just cannot be good for your eyes.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I wear them every night for months at a time. My optometrist was amazed my eyes are in great shape but he was like yeah don't do that lol

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Think you're supposed to remove them each night and soak them in lens fluid. Think leaving them in can cause things like conjunctivitis.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

That's exactly what I do! I can barely nap in mine without them feeling weird after!

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A couple years ago 24/7 lenses came out. Of course they're uncomfortable after waking up a significantly increase risk of 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

eye infections. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the manufacturers just slapped the “24/7” label on the same old lenses. 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No, you leave in them for a month at a time. If like me you have dry eyes you should take them out overnight for one night every week/ two.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Are you saying monthly’s are less hassle than daily’s? Heavens I never have to buy contact solution and spend time washing my contacts

7 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 2

I don't even own solution. I use monthly contacts. You litterally spend 30 to 60 times more time messing with contacts every month than me

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

monthly’s are less hassle but they’re not an option for me medically bc doc says my eyes are too dry to handle it :(

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same, friend

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

gonna try daily’s tho! i’m excited for no more contact solution

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I put mine in at the start of the month and leave 'em there. Day and night.

7 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 10

Not good for your corneas.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those aren't healthy for your eyes (generally speaking).

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Same here. Pop them in on the first, take them out on the 30th, and just use rewetting drops every morning.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

What drops do you use? I can't find any that are safe to use while the contacts are still in.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait they make those!? How much a pack

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I pay 80$ per pack. My insurance only pays 100$ a year which sucks but I can get a pack of 6 to last quite a while.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You are ruining your eyes. You need to change them every month. Your corneas get their oxygen from the air and back of your eyelids.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I could never sleep in my contacts. It's always so uncomfortable. I also have bad allergies so that may be a factor.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I do the 2 week day/night ones. Biggest problem is the proteins from eyes building up if I don’t use eye drops and waking up they’re dry.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Other than that they work wonders. And it’s way easier

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here, only problem I’ve had is them drying out or getting dirty from the proteins that build up, so I use otc eye drops for proteins

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Daily's are the only thing I can wear...allergies like fresh lenses. Also, the night wearing still isn't "ideal" even if FDA allowed.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Real bad to not take them out. Your eye doctor should tell u that.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Isn't that super dangerous to sleep with them in your eye?

7 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 3

It is very much dangerous to sleep in

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I wore monthlies like that which weren't even supposed to be left in during the night and had no problems. I don't know how people get them>

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

>stuck inside the sockets. Eye doctor did tell me that they inhibit oxygen flow to cornea which causes itty bitty blood vessels to grow >

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They’re FDA approved for 30 days continuous wear. If worn properly, should not cause any eye health problems.

7 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Maybe not eyes, but eyelids can get fucked up like mine. I can only wear dailies now because they're thinner.I used to do exactly what u did

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's still bad for your eyes in the long run. The chances of corneal ulcers, neovascularization, and GPC goes way up. It only takes one 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

Wrong. Still at a higher risk for infections, ulcers and scarring. FDA approved doesn't mean it wont happen.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Eye doc told me not to use those day/night ones continuously even though they are marketed as such. Can do some damage so I’m told.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

It's very much true

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm proof. My eyes got so bad I couldn't even wear dailies without irritation.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Details. How many years did that take to happen?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It happened over about 10 years. I got gpc and had to take a break from contacts. Then tried them again and was super

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have severe dry eye now, wore dailies for 20+ yrs. I am 47 now and I haven't been able to wear lenses for 5 yrs or so.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 633 Dislikes 11

Didn't want to eat them?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So gross. You slept beside that for 18 months!??

7 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 11

That's what my fiancee's parents told her when I first met them.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

You stick them in your eyes and you see better

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Perhaps OP doesn't live in an area where they can hope to keep a set of contacts clean overnight.

7 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 3

I think the question was why throw them in a cup by your bed for a year and a half

7 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

Cause it's quick, it's easy and it's free

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There are a lot of reasons to use disposable contacts. They actually tend to be among the most comfortable, and they're the most sterile.

7 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

I use them because I only use contacts on weekends and times when glasses are inconvenient. So daily is easier.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Also, if you wear glasses most of the time, but prefer contacts occasionally for certain activities/hobbies, they can be more cost effective

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Not necessarily most sterile depending on your hygiene habits, but least likely to get an infection with them is probably accurate.

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

why not just use glasses. i wear glasses for 75% of my life , i would be terrified to jab lump of plastic into my eye every day.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Glasses always side down the bridge of my nose. And my contacts don’t get smudged.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also rain, contacts don't get blurry in the rain.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sports. Anything with possible heavy impact or possibly needing better peripheral vision glasses aren't good for.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That's why I wear glasses, fear of putting them in/taking them out & fear of the lens slipping behind my eye.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Contacts don't look weird if your one of your ears is higher than the other.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For me it's because I hate glasses. Not on anyone else, just when I use them.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No hygiene habit is going to make reused contacts more clean than a brand new pack.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
