Front page, that is neat! Send me pics of puppies or boobs. Or both!

Terrible, god-awful beer. Bleck

Newcastle marketing is on point.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bloody love a Newcy Brown mate

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

$6 beer?!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Given the comparison; how much does a Superbowl ad cost to sell a $6 beer? So about $5M, plus production costs, to sell a pint?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plot twist: it's Zimbabwe; worlds cheapest beer at the time. Now they cost 3 million each!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Turns out you have to pay $7 inside as they had to fund the sign.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a good sign.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what I'm saying!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

One of my favorite beers.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Truth in advertising.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats an expensive beer

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I live in the UK, had Newcy Brown once as that's all they sold there and it was like drinking the urine of a tramp. Never again.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Seriously, as a new business owner, I didn't know how goddamn expensive those signs were.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

My friends parents owned a restaurant and the beer company let them have one when they sold a certain number of beers. It took them 5 years

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And they were giddy like little kids when they hung it up.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

400??

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Neon lights aint cheap to buy nor cheap to run.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 0

I certainly want those cans!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

??? What's the point?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

It's from Always Sunny.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Exactly!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Is this an ad for Wolf Cola

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I love Newcastle. I just wish they'd bring back the Bombshell Blonde Ale.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Is this Newy Australia? It's my hometown but I haven't been back in forever, which pub's got this?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Nah Newcastle is a brand of beer. Their Bombshell Blond was their summer seasonal a few years back.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This was in Seattle Washington

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nope, if it was the sign would have £ instead of $ also you'd pay £5 at the most for a bottle.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 7

First guy meant the beer, second guy thought it was a place, third guy said where Newcastle comes from, you mistook it for where the sign is

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...that's where Newcastle was originally brewed, not where the pub is.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh look it doesn't understand what a return on investment is.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Do you understand British Humor?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sign says $ - this isn't in the UK, mate

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

LOL and then he said "british humor" is it my turn to tell the joke?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since people don't understand, Newcastle's marketing tack is all self-deprecation. At one point they paid $1 per FB like. I have the check.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm talking about the sign not Newcastle

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Uh huh. The sign is produced by the brand. The brand is all about self-deprecation. As evidenced by the self-deprecation present in the sign

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't overthink either of my comments. I'm not even sure what they mean

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only 67 beers worth.

9 years ago | Likes 198 Dislikes 1

Slightly more. There's probably 50-66% profit on that, so they'd actually need to sell somewhere around 125 to break even. Still easy.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

only if he pisses beer

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since that sign will last half a century, it's pretty good advertising for the money. It's not just for the bar, it's for the brand

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

but how much does the electricity to keep it running cost?

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

And they gotta buy the beer

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

And pay someone to prepare the beer

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

About 2 beers a week.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

yeah if there are any beers left over, chuck them in the biofuel engine

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Try 2 beers every 40 days, if you run it 24 hours a day. http://www.jantecneon.com/Frequently-Asked-Questions.html

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That math is worth about one upbeer

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I move that we convert all fake internet points into units of beer.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hold my whiskey, I got this.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As someone from the UK, i never understood why everyone in the US loves Newcy Brown. It ain't good!

9 years ago | Likes 76 Dislikes 13

As someone from the US, we don't drink that shit!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

That's why they need the sign. You don't need to advertise the beer everyone loves.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everyone?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

You have to buy the 12-pack that comes with cardboard overwrap. The 6-pack with the clear bottles will skunk by the light of the cooler case

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

(And yes, the 12-pack has clear bottles, too - the point is the cardboard overwrap. Keeps the light out, keeps the beer from getting skunky)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I live in the US and have never met anyone who likes Newcastle.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like it. Got me turned on to brown ales in general. I can't explain why I like it.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a Brit, i think its alright. Not amazing, not dreadful.. Out of 10 its a solid 6.5/10 in my books. However i remember it being a lot >

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

better a few years ago, maybe 5 or more years ago.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have you had Budweiser? People associate anything above that with "fancy beer"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Preach!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've never had it

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't let a Northener hear you say that!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am from the north ???? but not the east

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Best ale I've ever had was Wye Valley pale ale. Oh my god. Drank it once years ago in a town called Bromyard. Never seen it since.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Wye valley is very nice!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I might buy a crate online. I think you can do that anyway

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When I was in the UK I asked why no pubs had New Castle or Bass. Hostle bar tender told me they are poor people beer. It's like British PBR

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As an ex-bartender I know that for Bass, which i really like. Its quite hard to store correctly, plus distribution on it isn't amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone from the US, I've never met someone who has tried Newcastle.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

People like what they like, why do you care?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because my views are always rjght. Everyone conform!!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good enough for me. Now, should I keep hating soccer because it's a stupid sport or a boring sport? ;)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm not a fan of football (soccer). Prefer rugby or Basketball so no haters here

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stella Artois is also marketed in the US as a high-end import...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I discovered Boddington's on my honeymoon cruise. Highly prefer it to Newcastle any day of the week

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

You're making yourself look worse

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wasn't trying to make myself look better, so no skin off my nose.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Everyone? I only drink it at catered events i.e. Weddings when something better isn't available.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus it's not even made in Newcastle anymore..... Deceit and lies.... It's like lindesfarne mead, they simply bottle on the island.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The world is a lie!!!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same, as a Dane I hate going abroad and seeing Carlsberg everywhere.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Well... Carlsberg is a pretty good beer. In my experience a lot of other countries' beer tend to be quite thin and watered.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Now if we could get the special 7.something percent carlsberg I remember drinking in Copenhagen it'd be different. That stuff was nice

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a Geordie I say gan fuck yasell lad !!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Fucking reets. Radgie.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is how Americans feel about PBR.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I use to like it, but then henikin bought it and it got nasty. We also dont really have a lot of good brown ape options.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Didn't know Heineken bought it. Also, is that what happened to Harambee?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And they closed New Castle brewery and moved production somewhere else.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am from the UK and I say "you take that back motherfucker".

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

Never!!!!!!!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Fight me! Newcy Brown is a national treasure.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's made out of gone off tramp wee

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As someone from California. If you've ever had it one a day that was 40 degrees c plus. It taste a lot better

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You gotta try 805 if you haven't yet

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have and I really like it! I just like Newcastle in a few situations. Like being outside in 100 degree weather for a few hours

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good advertising and the belief that foreign equals fancy. We have way better domestic brown ales.

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

I prefer any other brown ale in America

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Meh, I really like the way New Castle tastes. Whats a readily available better domestic Brown Ale for the same price that I should try?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Moose drool would be my choice for a budget domestic brown ale.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or Sierra Nevada Tumbler.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn, I do love Moose Drool. Harder to find and more expensive though. One of my old standbys has it on tap though. Yum!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Moose drool is good

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What's your favorite British beer? I'm not sure what's available here, but Newcastle, Old Speckled Hen, and Youngs are everywhere.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Old speckled hen tastes like rust.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Black sheep is heavenly

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes I can actually get that here! I'll check it out

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For me I always go local, when i was a student in Ealing all i drank was Fullers. And before + after Uni i lived in Bristol, so its Butcombe

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, as a more famous brand which you may know, there is Brewdog (made in Scotland) that might be in the US. Lots of micro breweries around

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Had a pint of Theakston's in Durham in 1994 and it was the best pint I've ever had.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hop Back Brewery: Summer Lightning, amazing local beer from my hometown, near Stonehenge

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

West country Best country.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

(Oooo)Arrrr!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tennents

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had it. Not impressed.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's from Glasgow though. We have a duty to like it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry.
