Imgur is filled with hypocrites.

Let me add some context.

For those who somehow don't know this already, LindaDee is in hot shit right now.

She's accused of a few things, most of them true but some are debatable. Here's a short list of what I know about the situation so far.

1. She steals content and doesn't post the source. As far as I know she doesn't claim it as her own. If she does, well...I'm not surprised.

2. She uses bots or takes advantage of the system to maximize her points. Multiple posts have shown her view count to point ratio is insane. She could have a post with 15k views and somehow 14,997 of the people who viewed it upvoted it. Or she'll have a post with 200 views and 3k upvotes. I'd say that's definitely a point against her.

3. She's accused of being in league with or in a relationship with a mod. Lassann defended her and the general consensus is that he is the mod that she's in league with. I have seen no proof to prove this but...Imgur will be Imgur.

That's about all I know about the situation. I'm sure I'm missing something. Feel free to leave a comment reminding me. And no, her comments on posts aren't being called into question here. Yes, she's probably crazy and a pathological liar, but that has nothing to do with her posts, as far as I'm concerned. Don't attack her character, attack the things she's done and try to prove that she's done them.

Now, on to the point of this post.

The biggest thing I see people complaining about is her stealing content and not posting a source. I find that very hypocritical because Imgur users do this on a daily basis. Commenters have to post the source themselves a lot of the time. I checked the Imgur rules (yes there are actually rules) and the bottom section states

"Imgurians expect that the original poster (OP) will be explicit about if and how they are connected to the content they are posting. Trying to hide that relationship, or not explaining it well to others, is a common feature of bad sharing."

To me, this means, don't be a dick. Post the source of where you got the image. But this doesn't happen. The number of dumps that reach the FP on a daily basis is ridiculous. And how many people post the sources? Hardly any.

There's an old saying

"Those in glass houses shouldn't through stones"

And the view of LindaDee from those houses must be pretty amazing.

No one cares

Admitting you have a problem is the first step lol.

You've written an awfully long rant on a topic that's apparently none of your business.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Imgur has made it my business by posting about her nonstop for the past two days.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Irrelevant. Right up there you say it's none of your business.

My rant also had multiple talking points. Not just the one in the post.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I didn't read it.

Then you have no right to comment. Good day.

My understanding of 1 is she actually has claimed ownership/OC of stuff and been nailed for it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I feel it's different from just reposting. I mean reposting is a staple of Imgur but false claims of ownership tend to rile the community.

Every post I've seen has been her simply not crediting the OP she stole it from. I haven't seen anything saying she claimed it as OC.

Haven't really been following it but something about dog gifs and content ripped straight off a web site or something. Could be wrong.

I knew about the dog gigs but only through the grapevine. I haven't cared about this drama until like... 20 minutes ago.

The only part that has my attention is Imgur's involvement. Locking her points, giving points back, shadow banning in bulk, etc. not cool.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

#2 is easy to explain, she shares links to the posts on her many social media accounts. These people look but don't vote and she reposts.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well now I feel foolish. I thought you were talking about the Imgur rule, which is number 2 of that section. My mistake lol.

Do you have proof of her doing this? And that doesn't make my point any less valid. Why is it bad when she does it but A-OK for everyone

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Else to do?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh I don't give a shit about what she does either way, someone showed her twitter/Instagram accounts that linked to her posts.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So we've decided to do her over internet points? Jesus Christ...

It's just like the Ndelray incident last year.

And the HI Walter incident? That was my personal favorite. Imgur couldn't help jerking themselves off only to find out they were wrong
