A day in my life - Nantes, France

as I really enjoyed these, here is mine.

Getting up

My alarm goes off at 6, but I'm never really getting up before 7... This is the first day I have a bed, I just found it on the street, before I used to sleep on a mattress on the floor.

The rest of my flat

Could go to work by bike, but most of the time I'm going by bus. And also found the sofa in the hallway of my building. People here leave the furniture they don't want anymore on the street and everything is gone in a day...

My little kitchen

I don't take breakfast at home, just to show you...

Living area

I'm really happy I found a flat with two windows...

Ready to go

At work I can wear whatever I want to wear, at 7.30 I'm ready to catch the bus.

Quick look outside

The weather looks quite nice!

Out of the window

I'm living next to an art school so I can watch the students do art and have a drink sometimes.

My street

I'm living in the historic center of Nantes, really enjoying it!

On the way to the bus stop

Literally one minute away :)

The bus is coming!

I wanted to show you the cathedral and hôtel de vile, but the bus is already here.

Little more sleeping time

Usually I continue to sleep on the bus. It's a 20 to 30 minutes ride.

Nice day

Looks like a quite nice day!

Blue sky

And we even have palm trees...

Work

I'm working as a translator at an editor for computer books. I start at about 8.

Desk

My desk.

Little messy

And I'm sitting next to the postcards. Love travelling!

The treat drawer

I'm having a cereal bar and popcorn for brekkie.

Lunch

At 12 I'm having a couple of these at my desk. Sometimes we eat outside, but today I was trying to save money and time...

Afternoon work

I'm doing some voice recordings in German for our elearning videos.

16 heures

I'm done at 4 and a colleague drops me off half way by a park. I'm going to walk the rest home.

Park

Park

On my way

Going to centre ville

A French street

I really like this area

Wine shop

Rosé wine

Groceries

A little nice shop

Bakery

So nice !

Nearly there

A new shop

Bouffay

I used to live in this street before.

Bouffay

There is still a controversial if Nantes is in Brittany or not.

Pharmacy

I need something from the pharmacy, but it's always crowded because it's really cheap. Just need a prescription which doesn't cost anything. French health insurance is great!

Telephone aquarium

Next to the pharmacy there is this new piece of art

Le voyage à Nantes

You can find stuff like all around town, it's called the trip to Nantes.

Under construction

Summer time is construction time in France... And some complementary art.

Still bouffay

The weather is really grey now. Proofs that we are in Brittany.

Supermarket

With special offers for students.

Supermarket

Cheese

More wine

Look how nice the weather is again

Back home

Window view

Quick snack

It's about 6 now, I'm having a quick snack and an avocado after that. Watching a bit of fresh meat.

New music

A friend gave me this new CD, it's pretty cool! Yalta club.

Packing

I'm going to Dour music festival in Belgium tomorrow and I still need to pack my stuff. It's camping for 5 days.

Food

Festival food. Haha. Ramen, crisps, apples, tomatoes, a cucumber and canned taboulé.

Gin

You're not allowed to have glass bottles, so I'm pouring gin into water bottles and also pastis.

A lot of stuff

I'm going to quite a lot of music festivals, I'm used to it and I'm always trying to take a minimum of stuff...

Finished

It's about 10 now

Making melon balls to freeze them for when I come back and eating the rest.

With some wine

Everything is better with wine.

Dinner

Having the rest of my delicious baguette and a tomato salad with Caribbean pepper sauce for dinner. Not very sophisticated but I just need to empty my fridge before I'm leaving.

It's 11.30 now

After calling some friends who won't go out today, I'm watching some fresh meat again.

Will go to sleep when I finish the series

Normally sleeping at about 2 or so...

Cat tax

I don't have a real cat in my flat, but a friend made me this one.

Cat tax 2

Kira, my parent's new cat.

Dour! You're packing light for 5 days of camping. Or you're just good at packing :-)

You live in a fairy tale. I hope that you don't get bedbugs by taking beds and couches off the street!

That's where my family comes from! Yay!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Nantes looks charming. And someone likes Club-Mate.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I'm absolutely addicted to club mate! :)

You're part of the 1% of Mate aficionados who don't work in IT.

This interested me a lot as a Canadian who is going to be living in France for 7 months soon. Thanks OP!

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

If you're going to Paris, try to work at fat tire bike tours! My cousin moved there from Canada a year ago and she love love loves it!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd kill for some cantal. Damn places that aren't France.

And the new chocolate shop!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only one rule, go for the "morbier"

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only Nantes kids will remember this.

9 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 0

Googles Attempt at correcting this, helped me out here to catch the reference

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Underrated comment.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Very cool! France is definitely on my list of places to go.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Nantes is amazing. That big ass fancy castle in the middle. My plan is to move there one day. Definitely go there. Then St. Malo and Dijon

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Europe is fancy af.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's amazing how little food you consume in Europe. Just amazes me

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

and its mostly carbs. i don't understand how this workssssss

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

very healthy choices it seems. Complete baguette though...that quite a lot of bread actually.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Right! I've ate x5 as much as OP and it's not even 8am. Hello from Kentucky.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yes, I saw another one of these posts and it was this dude from Alabama and the food part was something I was more familiar with. Good post!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have no idea how she can survive on that caloric ratio. And I am also from Europe to be clear.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes it's seems very very little food for any size human really

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even for a french, OP's food is very healthy.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yes I wish I could eat like that, but I'm certain by 10 am i would faint

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's not much even by french standards. Add a big nice potion of proteins to each meal and you're closer to what I eat for instance.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

(Granted, as a burly man I probably weight twice as much as OP)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How many languages do you speak?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I grew up in Toulouse, I miss the lovely summer evenings.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I will never get sick of these. Ordinary life is so lovely to me.

9 years ago | Likes 196 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What was the red and white stuff on her bread with the avacado?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I wish I could have bread and wine without gaining weight instantly.

Make smoothies! Such an easy and delicious way to get them j to your diet. My fave

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It accurately not that good for you. The acid in fruit is hard on the teeth and blending it removes any fibers for your digestive system to.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I usually use Greek yogurt, milk, kale, chia seed and berries. Blend it up. L Not too much acid (I don't think?)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can put 6 bananas in a smoothie and I'm still hungry an hour later. I don't get it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

instead of biting and chewing all the bananas, you just gulp down one drink. same bananas, less work

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mix with yogurt so you get protein. All-carb meals will leave you hungry soon. You need some protein/fat because it takes longer to digest.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I use coconut milk, juice and usually a full cup of yogurt as well. I just started adding chai seeds.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also try to add some variety! Maybe more substantial foods like spinach and even some protein powder. Just 1 thing won't do the trick!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But if I eat 6 I'll be full. Makes no sense.
