My mom's cat got mauled by the neighbour's dogs. Right on our doorstep. Snapped her leg like it was nothing.

She's gotta stay confined and still for up to 6 weeks, which might turn out to be more traumatic than the attack itself. My mom could do with cheering up.

Aww poor little kitty! She's lucky to have you guys taking care of her though and hopefully will heal soon - could have been much worse!

Happy thoughts out! I'm sorry this happened @op

I love my cat. I love my dogs. I'll love yours too but, if they hurt mine...I'll kill you all.

Damn.... indoor cats live longer.....tho I understand....not sure how to handle this cuz I'd be berserk

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'm so sorry for this

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Get a second opinion. If amputation has not been mentioned, bring it up. Depending on the lifestyle of the cat, it might be more humane.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Also, animals are very adaptive to losing limbs. And a lost limb would likely be less painful than a heavily damaged one.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

You do realise that broken legs can heal, right? It's not going to be permanently broken. Amputation should always be a last resort.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Aww, I hope she feels better

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

OMG poor thing, sending lots of love your mom and kitty's way! <3

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I feel you, I came home to my cat of 10 years to find him laying down wailing. Find out his hip got completely shattered from a fall.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Had to put him down bc the surgery was too expensive for the quality of life he would have had.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry to hear that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I may get downvoted, but if you care about your cats, keep them inside. It's dangerous out there. Unless they get depressed indoors, ofc.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Upvoted you but don't agree.... I mean, I'd do that but all the ten cats I've ever had loved the outdoors, hunt small prey, take walks, etc

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I think the fact that you've had 10 cats says a lot here unless you're like 40 and had five at a time.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nah, 25 but 2 or 3 at a time (brothers we choose to keep). And a big yard.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope they put a plate on that or something. How old is the cat?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Wow, Imgur is hilarious "All dogs are good dogs" but suddenly "I'd kill that dog" fuck off

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Had a cat that got hit by a car and looked a lot like this. Was never the same after he healed, personality completely changed.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

At any point if the cat needs to wear one of those UFO collars, try putting clothes on her instead. Buy a cheap onesie in smallest size 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

2/? Put her front legs through arm holes and adjust crotch area however is best. This helped my cat tremendously when she had surgery.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

3/? She could still eat/drink/potty normally but couldn't lick and worry at the wound. Good luck! :)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

This idea works so so well. But only works for certain wounds. Have you ever seen a Cat wear a donut cone? Works wondersss

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

around by his front paws. Said don't keep giving him pain meds because you don't want him moving around. Needs to feel pain to stay still (2

8 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 12

I used to have a cat that got hit by a car and had to have a plastic hip. Otherwise, he wouldn't have walked. He lived to be 17.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's intense :(

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I work in an emergency and specialty veterinary hospital. We see situations and fractures similar to this often. Trust the surgeons, 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Follow the instructions, and always attend the follow-up appointments, and everything will turn out just fine :)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's going to be hard. My cat got hit by a car, shattered his pelvis, doc said he wouldn't walk again, would just have to drag himself (1)

8 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 12

For now, we'll just keep upvoting this one so it stays in order.

(Cvt as well) I'm trying to figure it out. Almost looks like a giant pile of plaster on her back. Wonder if they are planning on pinning. 1

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or not. Or amputation. Hard to tell without a view of the pelvis!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously. There might be other problems if not. ????

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mayhaps! I want more details!!! Lol

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Poor little kitty ! Hope she will have the strength to go through! How's ur mum coping ?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sucks to say, but this is why cats should be indoors. This could easily have been a coyote or other large predator, or a car. You cannot 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

guarantee that every dog nearby is never going to break out of its yard or collar, and sadly, most dogs have the kind of prey drive that 2/3

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

leads them to kill small animals. My husky was great with OUR cats, but would kill any that she could get her jaws on outdoors. She was 3/4

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

kept on a tether, but one day our neighbor's cat walked within range and she tore a healthy chunk out of its leg. It sucked for everyone.4/4

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

OK so your husky should be able to go outside but the cats in the neighborhood shouldn't. You very little about cats man. :/

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If my dog is required to be contained either by a fence or tether, I think it's a reasonable expectation for cats as well, especially 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

since cats are prey animals for larger species and are prone to getting hurt or killed when allowed to roam freely. :) 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So lets take freedom from the victims but not the aggressors...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My neighbor had an outdoor cat who tangled with a raccoon. He was lucky to survive that fight. My next cat will be an indoor pet. It’s ...

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

just too dangerous out there for cats. They can be perfectly happy never going outside. I hope your cat heals ok. These pics are sad.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I was just reading average lifespan for outdoor cats is 2-5 yrs. I don't see how ppl can still argue their outdoor cat leads a good life.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Living out in the country, I know a lot of people who have outdoor cats. Some do disappear, but most live fully.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The key is shelter such as a barns or porches. I know a guy that doesn't own cats, but just feed wild ones so that they stick aroud his barn

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

.....live fully for 2-5 years.....

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's the lifespan of feral / stray outdoor cats who aren't spayed or dewormed and have no access to shelter, clean water or regular food.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And this applies to all wildlife btw. In sheltered captivity, all species can live significantly longer.Does that mean zoos are a good thing?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Outdoor cats decimate native populations, not to mention they are much more susceptible to disease EVEN WITH vaccinations.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're moving the goalposts. Your average lifespan applies to strays, not pets with outdoor access. But yes, the latter are also more ...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's also no vax against getting run over by a car...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There is no disputing an outdoor cat will 9/10 times not live as long as an indoor

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Sorry, but that's just not true. Many indoor cats are overweight due to lack of exercise and suffer from diabetes, IBDs etc.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But hey,I'm not disputing that people should ideally keep their pets inside(and see to it that they get sufficient exercise & entertainment)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What I'm disputing is your statistic, which is way off. Can we please just acknowledge that?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Dog owners always get mad when I shoo their animals from my property. But honestly, keep your dog on a leash or confined to your own yard.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I keep chickens and have been having trouble with my neighbors' dogs. I'm setting up box traps and calling animal control to pick them up. >

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

If that fails, I'm going to get rid of them myself. In my area it's legal to shoot a dog causing damage to livestock on private property. >

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I hate to do it, but honestly it's a choice between letting the dogs keep harassing and potentially killing my birds or getting rid of them.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

I hate it... but that's you're livelyhood they're fucking with...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd start charging them for every damaged bird. But knowing some neighbors, they'd never pay it. Or they'd begin to maliciously harass you.

I'm hoping I'll be able to trap the dogs and just let animal control come pick them up. Otherwise they're going to disappear one day. >>

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I hope you kitty gets better soon! I noticed from your spelling you aren't from the US. Are there leash laws where you are from?

8 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 5

I agree that leash laws should be a thing.. but if you leave your cat outdoors, it has s chance to be hurt. They should be kept inside. :/

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The x-ray says it was made at Kathu Dierekliniek. A quick hop to Google says Kathu is in South-Afrika.

Who the fuck would let beloved pets run loose in Africa

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work for a British company, spend a lot of time taking "u"s out of words.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't get it. Surely if it were a British company you'd spend a lot of time putting 'U's' in?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But we are in American and our clients are American.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How does the spelling signify non-American?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

NeighboUr

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Neighbor vs. neighbour.... Plus check out the newspaper in the 2nd pic. The language is not the standard expected at a 711 or dépanneur.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I’m guessing “neighbour”, although I use that spelling too and I’m from Virginia...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You are pretentious then

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

"neighbour's"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They wrote mom so idk does Canada say mom most other countries say mum

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

most other countries sure as hell DON'T say 'mum'

I ment english speaking countries like NZ Australia the UK

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, see it now. lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Canada says mum, but we never write it. Also mum is very much a british thing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

NZ and Australia also say mum

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I consider NZ and Australia to be British. I know I'm wrong, and yet I persist!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

NZ is dutch australia was British now its full of people from every country

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Poor kitty :( I wish her a speedy recovery. And please report this dog. The next victim could be a child.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

A cat is a small prey animal and I assure you VERY FEW dogs will go for a toddler with the same drive that they use on cats or rabbits.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 11

7,332 people were seriously injured by dogs in 2016 in the UK alone. 1,733 were children. Those VERY FEW dogs must have been rather busy.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Ah yes. I'll tell those 8.5 million domestic dogs in the UK to get on their case. 0.08% is far too high a statistic. Is no one safe?!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

I'm sure your math is very reassuring for the disfigured & traumatized victims and their parents.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I'm handle dogs for a living. I'm only telling you a dog that goes after cats =/= a child killing savage. That's very, VERY old-fashioned.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Report the cat for being outside too. The next victim could be a child. Your double standard is ridiculous

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 19

Booooo. That's gonna cost you some yardage.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Go troll someone else.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Not a troll. Just pointing out blatant hypocrisy.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

In what!? In what fucking land do you live where cat attacks are even on the same level as dog attacks. Holy shit your brain is broken.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Shush now. Go and watch some midget amputee porn or something. Anything is healthier and more productive than your current behavior.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Nice rebuttal, dude

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Time to sue your neighbor.

8 years ago | Likes 115 Dislikes 40

Ummm. Both should have been on a leash

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 7

Birdshot also works

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Tine to make some new cat food. Out of dog.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 7

Wouldn't it make more sense to sue the insurance company

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You don’t sue the insurance company. You sue the owner, and their insurance company responds, if they have liability coverage.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Or try speaking to them and coming to an amicable solution? I know it's not the American way and all but worth a shot?

8 years ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 22

Fuck that.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

The amicable solution was for them to control their fucking dogs.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

You have no idea what the situation was and are jumping to conclusions. Owner may not have been home and dogs escaped the yard etc for exmpl

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

In that example they shouldve fixed their fucking fence.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There ya go, jumping to conclusions again. Sure just make up a whole story in your head and go ranting on the internet, good on ya pal.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Of course that would be the first step. Personally if my dog did that I would have gone to the vet with them and paid for everything.

8 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

OP doesn't mention anything about money, so maybe the neighbor did just that.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it happened on their property I would pay but if it was on mine I wouldn't.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah I'd take the same route.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

um... yes, absolutely it is.. people not keeping their dogs on leashes MAKES. ME. CRAZY.

8 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 12

But it's fine for cats to run around? Cool double standard

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 8

Could be argued the cat wast leashed and ran from the dog only to be caught at the doorstep

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Hate walking to the bus because I’m scared of dogs and multiple neighbors let them jump on me unleashed “haha he’s friendly!” I’m not.

Livelihood of the farmers that you buy your groceries from at the farmers market. My kids lives are more important than a coyote... sorry.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Is your yard fenced in?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My yard is not. I also don't live in the city or suburbs. No one fences in they're yard unless it's for keeping cows or pigs contained.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

Down votes for no fence? My closest neighbor is 3/4 miles away. I forgot to mention that my dogs are highly trained working 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Asking the right question. Everyone's on about the killing and not even thinking about property boundaries - which matters.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You want your animal to kill another person's pet? What if I had a pet lion and let it out when your dog was out?

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 3

Survival of the fittest... but they've taken out a couple coyote and a fox. Tree black bear constantly. I guess a lion would be cool.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 47

Its not the cats fault we have bred it to be too small to win that fight. 1on1 a bobcat or leopard would own a wolf or hyena.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Keep the cat inside

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 45

Haha i love the fact that he is right.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Keep the animal aggressive dog inside

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 5

Regardless of the downvoted the man is right, cats should be kept inside. They basically kill all birds in the area.

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 8

In Canada, it's technically illegal to have your cat outside. Or your shitty dog off leash.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

While I love cats. Its true domesticated feral cats have caused the extinction of many birds.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Not just feral cats. Mittens the cuddle bug is also a murderer (it's simply their instinct).
