Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei?

16th on the list.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

By listing critically acclaimed instead of opinion you've made the best rec list I've ever seen here. Better than an A+, you get an S.

I was about to bust out the watch better anime gif, but your taste in anime is fairly good.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But yeah, it's a pretty good list though I doubt OP is the one who made the original lists.

monster is hard to follow if u don't keep ur concentration up. wouldn't recommend watching it if u wanna watch something to chill

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

around ep 25 through 45 it is very hard to push but SO MUCH PAY OFF! It has what might be the best monster of any fiction because it is so

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One Punch Man!!!!!!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. has one of the most amazing story arcs i have ever seen 10/10

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I'm having difficulty watching it, I loved the idea of the SAC, but, it also kinda makes me skip it for most of the time. I love the movies.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Having both seasons of SAC plus SSS (the movie) on DVD boxsets from Madman Ent - Totally fuken agree wit'ya mate!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...point from there. Or dont! 71

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Death Parade watch it.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's really hard for me to get into it even though I've only watched one episode.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Keep with it gets better

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So glad you didn't put anything like SAO on here

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Its not from 2000-2009 either way.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Good point, guess I've just pushed it that far back in my mind

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

WHERE IS EVANGELION

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Top 10 critically (2000-2009)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

oh right xd

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i really really really tried to get into Monster. I just couldn't. Does it get better after episode 5?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

25 to 45 are hard but the pace after that is incredible train wreck of awesomeness.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's pretty good, think of it like a thriller. Plus the story gets much deeper later on.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's an extremely slow burn, but it's worth it.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I would say yes, but I can't guarantee you'd like it. Everyone is different.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

top 10 according to who?

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I provided a link to the source, everything is explained.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Azumanga Daioh is a treasure, legitimately one of the funniest things

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Osaka is the shit.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

the summer episodes were probably the funniest, like when osaka walked sleepily around with a knife

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude Haibane Renmei is one hell of a series. Like watching Serial Experiment Lain is just filled with questions answered by your perspective

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

It's much more accessible than SEL, they toned down the philosophical aspect for character interactions and developement, and it paid off.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

+1 for Bakkano. Literally one of the best stories I have ever seen.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

I really wish they would make more seasons adapting the later books. Might be tough though, since they messed up adapting Volume 4.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They probably didn't want it to be to long or they only had enough money to do a certain amount of episodes so they tried fit in a lot.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, you're probably right. It's just a shame they only put in the boring parts of volume 4, and cut out all the good parts.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honey and Clover man... I learned more about life from that shit than just about anything in my life.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

true dat

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Man, when I saw while it was being subbed there were so many saying it was crap. Now people are like OMG IT'S AWESOME!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When you watch something like that a little at a time it generally seems worse. Best to binge stories.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's still in my top 10 anime of all time. It was definitely something different from the normal slice of life animes of the time.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh most definitely. It was a unique experience. Not breathtaking or really remarkable but an intense experience nonetheless.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But why full metal alchemist? I've tried several times. It's just terrible. What am I missing?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

What'd you dislike about it?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Why the fuck are people downvoting the "what did you dislike about it" replies? It's a simple question, not something to get pissy over

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Watched both start to finish. It's just overall a mediocre series. Like, the MCs never really lose & the plot was interesting 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

But it wasn't a OMG plot. I enjoyed it, but it's not in my top 10. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

They lost more fights than they won.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That really depends on what you consider a loss

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Almost every fight Ed&Al won were because they had a lot of backup, and even then they lost quite a few.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bro where's Steins;gate

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 7

Its great series but 13 episode long prologue before anything starts, just to throw memes and anime jokes is bit too much to be perfect.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love me some Steins;Gate. Even named myself after it

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

That was 2011, not last decade.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

OBJECTION! A decade is ten years and 2011 falls way after 2016!!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*after 2006

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The title states he meant 2000-2009.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...details, details

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not his personal list. Shows that right in the post.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Steins;gate still deserves to be on any top 10 anime list. It is absolutely excellent.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Right, but... it's after 2009.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So it is. I thought the last decade would be, y'know, the past 10 years. Guess I was wrong.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's weirdly worded, yeah. I think it means previous decade rather than recent ten in this case.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Still, it's gud

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Sure, but it doesn't belong on the post.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did not expect to see Haibane Renmei as #1

It's a rather slow and gentle series (at first at least). But it's incredibly beautiful, definitely not for everyone though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Miria look! We appear to be on the top of animated television show list!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

How wonderful Isaac! We must be the stars of the show!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

indeed, for once a decent list.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It didn't get more than a season right? I liked it regardless.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not it didn't, the ending is already perfect as it is. :)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That doesn't surprise me, that anime is out of this world and criminally underrated on MyAnimeList.

9 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

It is very much my favorite

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's also based off of a Haruki Murakami book, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and The ENd of the World.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The setting is, but the two are very different in their execution. Both should be enjoyed by everyone.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MAL ratings aren't really regarded as being a good indicator. I'd go with AniDB instead.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it as good as ABe's other stuff? I really enjoyed Lain.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think it's his best work.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, it has a high bar to reach if it wants to beat Lain, but...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like it because it has very likable characters and it's incredibly immersive.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm totally gonna watch it, yeah.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mu mutha fuckin shi shi my dudes. watch that shit please gotammn

9 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 3

I want soooooo much more 2 seasons wasn't enough!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It has 3 seasons, 2 OVAs and a short movie.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Im about 6-7 episodes in but just can't get into it. It's ok but story just feels like its progressing like a glacier.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And if you like that I suggest Ayakashi (Bakeneko) and Mononoke. They're trippier, but damn good.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Mononoke is more intense than Mushishi, but still so fuckin good

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I've been putting it off for several years now. I just want to watch it while it's snowing and cold outside, while I'm wrapped in blankets.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There's an episode exactly like that about a frozen village and a boy who falls in the lake. Fuggin recommend it.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

theres like 5 episodes based around snow and theyre all fabtastic

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I really recommend this series, watch 1 or 2 episodes before going to sleep. Subtle, calm, atmospheric vignettes full of meanings. Great.

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Ah, this is what I like do and Mushishi was absolutely the best at this. It's hard to keep it at just 1-2 eps when there's exciting plot.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I normally like action or comedy series, but Mushishi is so good that it makes my top 3 of all time list.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Love me some Gurren Lagann.

9 years ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 7

I'm more of a Fooly Cooly fan

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

As do I!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Love me some regi

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No Cory in the House?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I did not like it at all =/ all my friends loved it. I just found it REALLY annoying

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

You I like you

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!?!

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

"I'm not my bro!! "

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Will always be my favorite. I even have me a Gurren Lagann tattoo

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is it a drill?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann will always be number one for me. I'd honestly not be alive if not for that show. Got me out of some bad times.

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

Edgy

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Hey man, to each their own. Don't be an asshole and judge someone because something helped them through tough times. If it works, leave it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Top Kek

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That show pulls me out of any depressing funk I have. I swear, it's solidified so many friendships as well.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

There's no compelling reason to watch the first Fullmetal Alchemist series over Brotherhood unless one wants a hasty, poor ending instead.

9 years ago | Likes 189 Dislikes 34

Shut the fuck up

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 10

What a well thought out argument. Kudos to you.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

wasn't an argument

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I'm going to upvote then downvote then upvote because I can't give more than one upvote

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes! I watched the original first and HATED the ending. I was so happy to learn about Brotherhood later on.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The original anime had way better character writing, giving you many more emotions ties to characters. Brotherhood is a much better story.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Dante was the worst main villain in anything ever

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's good to watch the first section of it, which is fairly identical in Brotherhood but speed up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you like Fullmetal alchemist then watching both is good.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The first series is definitely one of the better anime series with actually interesting character developments. Didn't watch the 2nd one.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Brotherhood was better for overall plot, but non-brotherhood had a ton more development for side characters, imo. I like to mix them.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Disagree, the 1st series gives more detail for the first arcs while Brotherhood rushes through them because the first series already did it.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

While rewatching Brotherhood blows past the Nina & Shane story in like one episode. 1st series focuses more on it since they had time.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if you like more than ten seconds of seriousness without cutting to comic relief gags over goofy chibi animation?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I actually think the 1st one was better because it was actually more complex, serious, and felt people were more human. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Even the humunculi seemed human in their own sense. Brotherhood was seemed lame afterwords because it was a generic shonen. To me, it 1.5/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was a step backwards. The story went from a plot that would provoke you to think about things that reflected to real life to 1.75/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Simply stopping the big bad guy. Then a Dues ex machina saves Edward from having to make any real sacrifices or face any consequences.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Puffin: I disliked Brotherhood cause it seemed like it had more chibi and used them at important dramatic moments.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

Oh hey another guy. I tried FMA:B a bunch of times but just couldnt get past the chibi. Love OPM/Mob psycho and the classics tho

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's nice to not be alone. I don't rip on someone who enjoyed brotherhood but I can't stand a lot of the cutesy anime tropes.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like it because of the redemption Lust gets and the take on the brothers teacherskid being Wrath was interesting too.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Expect that time Brotherhood had a character "return" even though they were only in the 2003 series...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the explanation for how Homonculi are made is much more interesting in the first. And raises the emotional stakes.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I dunno, I liked the reveal and explanation at the end of the original. I also liked brotherhood. Both where great.

9 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 3

I own both series on Blu-ray now because they both were there for me at different times in my life

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

the best part is, if you like one, but you're sad because you finished it, good news. You can watch it again but slightly different and new!

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

this individual/or hive mind (never assume) gets it

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I agree, the only people who tend to actively hate the orig. anime are snobs because "It wasn't like the manga".

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 8

I don't hate thee original, but I liked Brotherhood better.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And I don't hate brotherhood, but I liked the original better. And nothing bad happened and everyone promised to be cool about it.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Except I watched the entirety of the first series over a decade ago, never read the manga and watched the new one a few months ago.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

But do you actively hate it?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

I actively recommend people skip it (avert it) over watching the second series alone. Aversion can be seen as 'hatred', so sure, I 'hate' it

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

So my opinion has nothing to do with the manga and everything to do with the two different series.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My rule a thumb is if ya a casual viewer and only gunna watch one, go with brotherhood, but if you just like good anime in general ynotboth

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well if you wanted to watch them both, it's much harder to go from Brotherhood to the original than the other way around.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I disagree. I will maintain until the day I die that the first anime is better than the manga and brotherhood by leaps and bounds.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, apparently the first one had better character relations. They say you should watch the original up to the fifth lab then switch over.

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

Yeah. Watched the first and then couldn't get into brotherhood. It was almost too much action that they ignored their human social functions

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

FMAB rushed through the first 13 episodes to get to the point where the original deviated.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hats exactly how I feel. The original felt like a human story with alchemy whereas brotherhood was all action and effects with little flavor

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Or decent animation >< (will readily admit the story is better on Brotherhood, though)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I thought they were both great in their own ways.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Watch both, get more FMA!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

VINCENT MIGNOGNA PREFERS THE ORIGINAL OVER BROTHERHOOD THERE ARE DOZENS OF US

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

The original had better characterization

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I liked the first one more and everyone I've told disagrees with me.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

The bit I saw of Brotherhood while it was still airing didn't compel me to watch it. Years later I finally did, ended up liking it more pers

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was obsessed with the first anime when I watched it, but I just could not get into the second one.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1
