Some will say you destroyed it by hiding the natural grain of the wood, but, fuck them it looks awesome

You shave against the grain

Fine sand paper (320 grit) the top did come out super smooth but the rest is really just the gloss of the paint

The red paint gives it a slightly American Horror Story look... maybe go with that angle?
