I caught the pokemon Black legendary by getting the legend down to 1 hp then throwing the only Dive Ball I had at it. Soft reset and repeat.

I've always had the worst legendary luck. For the first 3-4 generations I only ever caught one legendary, and that was with the master ball.

Earlier gens at least, you only got one master ball. So, barring Missingno tricking the master ball you can only use it for one legendary.

You only get one master ball. I'd catch the main legendary with it, but be unable to catch the 3 side legendaries.
