Before the groomer. Massive patches of wool still stuck in the undercoat. Some mattet patches, too.

Couldn't brush him myself when he started molting due to my weakness from cancer. (It has been beaten now. All is good)

At the groomer. What you are looking at is a kilogram of wool next to him.
And this is when they were half done with his groom.
The rest of the groom was more about unmatting his coat and repairing any damage done without cutting his furr off

They estimated about 2 and a half hours to get hims done, but he was such a good boy that they finished in only 1 and a half hour.

This it the final result after the session.

I bought the same brush they used and will begin giving him a good 15-30 minute brush every sunday to maintain this silky soft coat.

Upside-down derp-dog tax?

Front page edit:
Thank you all for the upvotes and congrats on beating my cancer!

Love you IMGUR.

Send pupperinos if you're gonna send anything, cute, funny and derpy ones.

Send the fur off to be made into yarn and make him a pillow.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You can have it spun into yarn. Kinda cool to have it made into something.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Use that wool to spin yarn and make a piece of clothing. It looks soft.

A kilogram of steel is heavier

Brings sheep dog a whole new meaning

Make a matching sweater with the leftover wool.

So glad you are better!!

Had to do soemthing similar. My mother didn't have cancer though, just a lazy alcoholic. Poor dog shedding so bad and overheated. 2 hours!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I am kind of surprised there isn't a company out there that makes clothing out of shedded dog fur.

Save that fur that came off and make a coat

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hopefully you're in a cool climate. Here in the desert I see so many of them

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What brush was it?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Congrats on beating cancer and having a beautiful happy dog!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Glad you tackled the problem! All the best with recovery for you and the dog! =]

It's strange how wolved could ever survive in the wild, isn't it?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Welcome to the survivors club! Been here a decade myself, IT’S THE BEST

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Such a lovely looking floof

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Poor baby. You should be ashamed! That is way too late, better late than never but no dog should become that matted. He is a very good boy.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

The owner was sick. They obviously knew about the fur problem and tackled as they could best. The dog is better now, no need to be harsh.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sadly cancer made me unable to tackle the problem. Thankfully we live quite North so the weather has not been too warm yet.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You could knit yourself a sweater!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah yes the annual cost sheeding for Malamutes. The amount of fur taken off from the groomers is 100% accurate. The fur apply never ends lol.

awesome brush for summer with a norwegian forest cat

Not to be used for arctic doggos!

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Explain????

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, why?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The brunt of the work was mostly likely done with a slicker brush, dematting tool and a comb. Also a Mars comb if the groomer had it. And

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

a really powerful force dryer to blow as much out as possible before brushing.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

We Had two huskies, and that FURminator was a savior when they were blowing their coat. I’ll have to look up the other tools you mentioned

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I had one for my GSD/Vizsla mix & my pure GSD. Life. Savers. Especially the purebred.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No matter how much home grooming what we did, they were always 10 pounds lighter coming back from the groomer

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

So adorable! I’m so glad he beat cancer.

6 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 7

I should clarify; it was the owner who had cancer. Not the poocherino (thankfully!)

6 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

I apologize for making it seem otherwise, terribly sorry. I deserve all the downvotes.

6 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 2

Hey dogs are fantastic and your boy is very good but it's way better that you beat cancer. Congrats

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

No!! It’s great that the owner is doing better!! All love here

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

No down votes for you! It's relatively clear what you meant ^^ glad you kicked cancers butt

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Groomed him without cutting or shaving him? 10/10 good curl owner <3

6 years ago | Likes 386 Dislikes 3

Came to say this. Shaving huskies is very bad for them.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Right? I watch 'my favorite dog groomer' on YT and get frustrated with the unnecessary shave downs

6 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 1

i mean.. u never shave a double coated dog, even in a hot country

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

When they molt like that, it comes out with very little resistance, so I would be surprised if they had to

6 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

only reason to shave a husky is for medical issues, not for change of season

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Some groomers will shave if the furr is mattet. This is not nessecary or recommendet. It is just plain lazy and damaging to the coat.

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

For huskies? Definitely. There are other breeds with curly fur where if it's terribly matted, you do need to shave. It suffocates the skin.

What's heavier, a kilogram of steel or a kilogram of wool?

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

*Scottish accent* I don’t get it...

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The kilogram of steel. Kilogram is a unit of mass, so it's always the same. But if you want to find of "heaviness", you are measuring the >

Found the scientist

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What is the metric version of weight/pounds

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kilogramm is the SI-unit for mass. The unit of measurement for weight is that of force, which in the International System of Units (SI) >

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So... What you gonna do with the fur?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No idea. I do know of an elder lady who likes to spindle wool. But i think Pets At Home sends it off to be used in some kind of charity.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not sure about what they do with it though, so dont qoute me on that!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You should ask the lady if she wants it.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is sadly out of my hands now. I forgot to ask what they were gonna do with the furr. Oh well, next time :)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One thing about dogs, especially spitz-types- there's always more fur!

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Been meaning to take my "little" girl in. How much does grooming run anyway?

6 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Grooming is one of the things I consistently find Groupons for. Many small business will honor the offer without actually buying the groupon

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The first groomer i sought out asked 100 pound, and estimated an 8 hour job. Pets At Home asked 38 pound and did it 1 and half hour.

6 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

...an EIGHT hour job? Jeez.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for that. So 100% erratic mess when it comes to pricing. Shopping around it is then!

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Do a lot of shopping around so many people over charge. We luckily found a good groomer who isn't badly priced and will even pick up the dog

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The PetSmart grooming center did a furminator/groom on my fluffy girl for $90 before tip. 3 hrs and they did a great job.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

38 pounds for an hour and a half work? Somebody's not getting paid properly.

6 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

They get paid wages by the company :)

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

yes, but the company has to make money from somewhere. They can cover the cost with pet shop sales but the grooming doesn't stay afloat.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pets at home know what they're doing. They had a net income of £62m last year so their sales, up selling and other services etc.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Like 100 for 8 hours is any better...

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

yup. that's even worse.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was gonna say that too! 12.50 an hour is too low for this kind of work

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that low? That's 25 pound an hour

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yep, 25 pounds an hour, but from that they have pay wages, taxes, materials and tools, rent and make some profit. 1/2

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, if they expected this to take an hour longer, they have to cover some of that hour with income from this. 2/2
