I'm proud of you! And as someone that used to cut I promise the urge will stop

That's good, op. Make more of them . I like it.

Really well done. I had a friend who used to cut, she found other techniques which helped her to stop once she wanted to. Hope this helps u

Excellent substitution! It’s been about 13 years since my last cut. Stay strong!

Proud of you

Keep drawing. You are better at it. And better for it.

I recently read putting an ice cube where you cut triggers the same affect. It’s helped me if your art ever becomes burdensome. Peace to you

This should be a regular thing. This is really good. Take a sketch pad with you around so whenever you get the urge to cut it's there.

This is very sound advice. I hope @Op and anyone else who needs to hear it will heed your words.

Okay, I know how serious this is and all....but, anyone got a pair of those red/blue 3d glasses handy?

THE EMPEROR OF MANKIND APPROVES THIS UPVOTE!

This is a great step, you can do it. I'm proud of you and you should be too.

Don’t ever stop drawing

That’s so talented. Wow. And I hope you have got help @OP. If you haven’t, reach out. DM, if you need.

I'm seeing my gp on Thursday to try and increase my antipsychotic dose. I'll hopefully feel better with stronger meds. Also thanks xx

Keep up with the art! Its a much better use of your hands and you can express so much more that way <3 Best of luck to you!

i just cut half my hair at 4 in the morning after having a mental break down I think it looks good and i'm happy I didn't do anything worse

Lol are you me? I cut my waist length hair to shoulder length like 2 weeks ago after being on a manic episode then dyed it pink and purple.

I wish I could hug people over the internet.

Art is communication of emotion.....sell these rather than punish !

Good on you for letting art be an outlet and thank you for sharing.

Listening to this like

Sometimes the difference between the two options can be razor thin. Very sharp image, really cuts to my core...a real slice of your life

In all seriousness good job turning your struggles into something beautiful

You are so unbelievably strong, it shines through in your artwork. You are worthy and you are loved. Keep fighting ❤️

It's well done, and glad that you chose to draw over cutting. It's a step

It’s a big step. Now talk to someone as the next step.

Try a professional. They live for this sorta thing, you know, helping the way they can.

+1 ... but yikes, notice the deep cuts on the top of her left thigh in the drawing!! ...

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

I actually didn't until you mentioned. Still better to illustrate than to demonstrate. I appreciate you pointing that out though

I agree, tho, that it is better & a huge step to channel the cutting to the “canvas” instead of her body. Kudos to the OP for the big step.

You are a great artist. I hope you can share more.

I used to draw on myself instead of cutting. It helped a lot. Keep it up.

You can always talk to a doctor and they can put you in touch with someone who can help you sort out your issues. Get better = being happy.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm already on strong meds and I'm seeing many doctors

Good. You're worth having around & mental illness affects us all. Don't be hard on yourself. Take care of yourself. Be a friend to yourself.

Beautifully expressive drawing. I recommend holding an ice cube in your hand instead of cutting. You’ll get the same result w/o the marks.❤️

Phenomenal artwork. Happy to hear you turned to art versus self harm. It may not always seem like it but the world is better with you in it.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I read somewhere that drawing on yourself with markers can also help with those urges.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It works for some yes. Didn't for me, I needed the pain and the blood to get the rush to get over the mental pain. But it is worth a try

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes! This! I just suggested this. It's a good replacement therapy.

I saw a post where somebody drew a bunch of stuff with fluorescent markers. Looked really cool under black light.

It looks like it would pop with 3D glasses on. Also, try drawing on your skin. Draw a huge crazy pattern. It's therapeutic and a good..

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I have crazy sensitive skin so I avoid getting ink on it but sometimes I'll use my lipsticks on my arms and thighs.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Cognitive replacement. Sudoku occupies my mind when I have invasive thoughts. But washing the ink off in the shower is also therapeutic.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I saw someone use the hole blue and red 3d line thing on their drawing and I wanted to try it out :)

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

It looks cool. I like all the repeating text in the background too. I used to draw like that when ny mental health wasn't great. I feel you.

Looks like when I look at something out the side of my glasses. It's called a chromatic aberration - lens acts as a prism.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I’m sorry but it looks like my face during chipotle poops

But with more blood
