GET THAT SOAP OUT OF THAT CAST IRON YOU FUCKING SAVAGE.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 6

No

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Soap won't hurt it. Turn off your caps lock.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

If soap damages your seasoning, you did a bad job at seasoning.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

THIS IS A CAST IRON PAN YOU MONSTER!! ONLY HOT WATER AND SALT! NO SOAP AND NO OVERNIGHT NOTHING! ARRGH

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

If soap damages your seasoning, you did a bad job at seasoning.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

*sigh* Soap won't hurt a properly seasoned pan.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Even if you leave it overnight?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No, never leave it to soak. But if you wash it with soap and dry it right away it'll be fine.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#42 this is evil and murderous. Poor pan

5 years ago | Likes 286 Dislikes 3

So glad someone took care of this comment for me. ?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

mine looked like it was sudsing up when I washed it last, but it was just from my vigorous scrubbing

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Bc obviously I have never used soap on my pans and I got them when they were all rusty.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Especially considering that's a cast iron pan.

5 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 3

Is there even any other kind of pan that would be unacceptable for? As far as I know it's *only considering that's a cast iron pan*

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Godamn people who don’t know how to take care of cast-iron pans!

5 years ago | Likes 88 Dislikes 4

I agree butttt maybe don’t let it sit there forever? I would also suggest it is dependent on the manufacturer

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you ever want to get irritated, go look at amazon reviews for cast iron pans. "It rusted in the dishwasher!! Unsafe materials!!!"

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Came here to say this.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yes but saoking it in dish soap is not good. Cast iron is quite porous. Plus leaving it soaking will remove the oil seasoning

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If a little water removes your seasoning then you've done it wrong.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

You missed the part where you read the post

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Soap in a cast iron?

5 years ago | Likes 168 Dislikes 3

Reeeeeeeee /s

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I suggest you to the lodge website there is no law against using soap https://www.lodgemfg.com/cast-iron-myths

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

And fucking just letting it soak? Most disturbing thing of 2020

5 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 2

Came to the comments just to comment on this. Absolutely horrified.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Some people are psychos

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

Soap is actually fine, soaking is not.

5 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 6

huuuuuauauaauauAAAAAAAAAGH NOOOOOOOO

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Soap is fine. The myth comes to us from the Ooooold days of homemade LYE soap. Yes, if you are using LYE based soap, keep it away from 1/

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Your pan. And your hands. And genitals. And hair. And face. Look, just... We stopped using it for a reason. Don't use lye based soap. 2/

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

And wash your pans, but don't scrub off the polymer layer. (That's what your nonstick is into cast iron, IF you are treating it right - 3/
