Single mom of 3 kids. Three years ago I tore down my life and began to build it back up the way I wanted it to be. I left their dad and moved to a new city where I worked a shitty job and could only afford a two bedroom apartment. Last year I got a great job, started saving all the money I could, and today I sat on the floor of my new house that I just bought, and cried like a big baby. Even when things are really rough and you can't see the light, remember to keep working to make your situation better. Set goals. Be nice to people. Work hard. Find your happy.

"I tore down my life and began to build it back up the way I wanted it to be"...Create the world you want.

Currently moving out and away from my unhealthy ex to start this journey. Your post has given me much needed inspiration to keep moving on.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Keep on, friend. It's a long hard road. But someday, I promise, you will wake up and it will be ok. Look for the good things.

No! Don't dig it! It's expensive!

As a fellow holy shitballs I bought a house-er, congratulations.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And to you!!! I only puked once today!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I just pulled in and stared at it today. Like, there’s work to be done, but it’d been so long I thought it’d never happen. Scary but proud.

1 As a mother of 3 kids who just recently left her husband, thank you. You have given me hope! I have nothing, not even a job. Sometimes I

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

2 get so frustrated bc I don't know if I'm making the right choice. I'm taking this as a sign that I can do it, I just need to have hope.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Keep that hope. Focus on the positives. Instead of dwelling in the negatives, spend the energy coming up with solutions. Then work it

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

<3 you're awesome

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"I worked a shitty job and could only afford a two bedroom apartment" Please, tell me where is this magical place?

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Midwest! We've got a lot of corn and rednecks, but housing is decently affordable.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

I know it helps you spin the narrative in your favor but you're not a single parent if you share custody.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

exactly. where I live theres not even THAT many rednecks. 2 bed, 800+sq ft apt for <650/mo.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Los Angeles, here. You need a good job AND a spouse with at least some kinda income for a 1-bedroom. 2 bed with a shit job? Dreamy.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Sounds like London

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah... I know people in Ohio who want to move to LA and I'm like, whyyy stop it's not worth it

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dammit women who are headstrong & ambitious give me hope.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I needed to hear this so much, I’m so lost. Also, congratulations on the house.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

One day you will wake up and be ok. It happens slowly. But it'll happen.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hope that’s true. It’s been so long since everything was ok I don’t remember how it feels like.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Focus on the good things no matter how small. My first big achievement was paying my bills without the late fee. Baby steps, friend.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You've done what must human can't do; you found the strength. Happiness will be right around the corner.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

All Humans can do this. They just choose not to.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I needed that. That’s my goal but today it feels like is near impossible... thanks for showing me there’s hope

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

There's always hope. Focus in the good things, no matter how small. There's always a good thing.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you again. And Congrats!

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nice. I just spent two weeks paycheck on turtle supplies.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That is going to be one happy turtle.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

He is eating shrimp. Seems pretty happy.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Checked your posts, don't see turtles...

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have not posted any pics of my turtle.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was my too-subtle way of asking for pictures of your turtles.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Congrats! Be happy it came with keys. I just bought a place...seller didn't give over any keys so we had to break in. Jerks.

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

Whoa. Is that legal to withhold the keys? When we bought ours they gave keys, but broke the lock to the front door and the motor 4 the garage

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Probably. Sale agreement didn't specify turning over any keys. Will make sure to get that in on the next go round.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh man dude, I really hope you haven't been scammed. I've seen far too many sad news stories. Make sure, make double sure. :(

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Naw, it's legit. Thanks for the concern though :)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So many keys. And so many light switches that seemingly do nothing.

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I've got light switches that operate plugs, light switches that operate lights on other floors of the house (which also have 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

switches on the same floor btw), and some switches I still haven't figured out!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Actually, now that I think about it, those switches might operate the plugs that aren't installed properly and can't have a plug plugged in

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And if unaware, make sure ya change the locks -- both not knowing who has key copies AND you just posted pictures of them to the internet :)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They’ll control lamps when you plug them in if it’s like our place. Congratulations! Lovely flooring

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Midwest? Because I swear I have more light switches in my apartment than actual lights and after 2 years I'm still confused

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yes! What is up with that?!

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Probably the light switches that do nothing go with a plug near by. Plug in a lamp or something and it might turn on.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Ha! Yeah... and figuring out the breakers. They're all labeled incorrectly. Ugh.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah but your not allowed to relabel them. Just learn what they go to and when you sell later let it be their problem. Haha haha.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Says who?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Once you correctly label it, it’s life changing.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey, I too bought a house today. 23 engaged non-dad, like the opposite of you

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

No, the bank bought a house. Don't get confused, kid.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sure but they gave it to me. And now I just owe them my life :D

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And you get to pay the taxes on it!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep a whopping couple thousand a year

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congratulations on the house and the fiance and no surprised pregnancies!

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Thanks :D. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised by one shortly after I get back from my deployment

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Yay!!!! Good luck on your life!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Congrats and keep on goin! mad respect for single parents

8 years ago | Likes 682 Dislikes 8

Huge congratulations, you have a lot to proud of. I just wanted to throw a pat on the back for all those busting it out but not getting...

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

...anywhere that forces can be really stacked against you and it can take a long time to get ahead. Hang in there and stay afloat.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Please explain why being a single parent should demand respect over a couple who work hard at their marriage and give their kids a good life

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

You don't have to be married to have kids. Not all relationships are worth saving either. You can be a single parent and give kids a good

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Life. It isn't mutually exclusive. Being a single parent can be hard.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My point is, why does just being a single parent warrant respect. They could be really shitty parents who put themselves in shitty situation

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

We don't have a limited amount of respect to dish out. Respect people who are presently doing the right thing, improving, being badass, etc.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My point is, why does just being a single parent warrant respect. They could be really shitty parents who put themselves in shitty situation

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Of course they could. But OP got shit together and is doing well. Single or not thats one respectable thing.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But @stopbeingakissass said "mad respect for single parents". As if just being a single parent automatically earned respect.

Nah, Uber's branding is too scummy and disreputable. We offer only the finest of wife fucking and milk delivery services.

If you live north of the Compromise or Mason-Dixon lines, sure. But where I am we didn't get snow at all this winter. Unusual.

I went to the beach today. It was 85. Haven't seen snow here in almost 40 years.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is it snowing in Nevada? I'm too lazy to check. I wish it was because it's 90 fucking degrees.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Looks like a tiny spot near Elko is getting snow. (Fun fact, nevada means snow covered in Spanish.)

I just left there for the Midwest. I want to go back :( never thought I’d say that..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's not the awesomest place in CA, but i'd still way rather be here than midwest. snow with no mountains?! why do so many ppl live there?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Rent is reasonable? I pay $425 for a 2 bed apt here.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is definitely cheaper, but it is so cold and windy. I enjoy having multiple seasons again though...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Betcha it's not snowing in Florida.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

It "snowed" twice in Florida this year, both in January. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_in_Florida#21st_century_(20_reported_events)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't count Florida as being in the USA. Too many crazy people.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not snowing in AZ right now. Rather pleasantly warm, actually. I might decide to go swimming this week.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's nothing in Arizona. Been there, done that.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You clearly didn't ask the locals what would be fun. We've got ostriches, the Polar Express, the Grand Canyon, Organ Stop Pizza...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A really cool mining camp restaurant with live entertainment, hiking trails, Clear Creek camping with a really cool natural water slide...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I very much doubt you have anything called "polar" there....

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope, although the view in the Midwest is similar.
