My GF To Me After I Bought Her A New Game

Mar 31, 2025 3:11 AM

I always thought that was a real game, or at least something like it was around

i mean marvel rivals is pretty basic and meh tier of a game.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Butters has good taste then.

1 year ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Rivals is so good. I have way too much time played for someone as busy as I am.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I don't play Rivals. As a free Chinese game, I assume every crumb of my personal data goes to the CCP.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

In Lord of the Rings Online (mmorpg like wow) my vanity kin (guild) is Hello Hobbit Island Adventure.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rivals is a fun game. Highly recommend giving it a try. It’s worth the price at a minimum.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The best part? "Hello Kitty Island Adventure" is actually really good. I've been enjoying it a lot

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I know a bunch of 20-something uni students that play HKIA. Then again, we have legalized pot, so...

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Ah golden age of WoW. If they actually kept being invested in the game instead of trying to pump out money they would have been so fucking huge right now. But nope blizzard just dying and dying. I wonder why... Games are for fun. Corpos don't get that. Has anyone played a blizzard game since Microsoft took over in 2023? Is it the same shit different management?

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I play wow :) it's better

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Fuck yeah, got that deluxe shit and I'm having a time 💕

when life imitates art. https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/hello-kitty-island-adventure-switch/

1 year ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 1

Wait, this isn't Animal Crossing?

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Thanks. I guess I should have included she is playing this lol

1 year ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I mostly play tycoon and sim games, IN ADDITION to WoW Classic, it's amazing I even have time to breathe as it is. Rivals is pretty damn good though. I just prefer to relax nowadays.

1 year ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I've been playing the shit out of Schedule 1 this weekend. (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3164500/Schedule_I). Its a drug dealing tycoon sim that's super chill and has some great music. It just released in early access, but I'm 20 hours in and not at end game yet.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Ooooh, very interesting! Thanks!

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Holy shit...I didn't realize that Sanrio actually made a game by that name as a deliberate reference to South Park...that is nuts.

1 year ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Life imitating art.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They didn't. Or at the very least, they publicly denied doing so, or even being aware of it at the time.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

They apparently made an April Fools joke about it back in 2008: https://web.archive.org/web/20080606200354/http://blog.sanriotown.com/blog/2008/04/01/hello-kitty-online-announces-island-adventure-expansion-pack/ so they were definitely aware of it. I found out about the thing from 08 thanks to this article:https://www.polygon.com/23787195/south-park-butters-hello-kitty-island-adventure-apple-arcade-release-date

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Regardless, they claim it's just a coincidence. https://www.polygon.com/23787195/south-park-butters-hello-kitty-island-adventure-apple-arcade-release-date But both things can be true: Just because a Public Relations employee referenced a 2006 joke in 2008, doesn't mean that more than 15 years later, the entire company (still) knows about it. It's extremely likely that the person who posted that doesn't even work at that company anymore.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's definitely possible.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think the Hello Kitty game is supposed to be good.

1 year ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 3

aren't all games supposed to be good?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot of kids IP games are garbage shovelware that only sells bc children want it. The Hello Kitty game is apparently actually good.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I absolutely love the fact that they actually went and made the game like 10 years after the fact, and that it was probably inspired by this episode

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Holy shit

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and that nearly every comment is thanking Butters for referring them to it

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a soul-cleansing game.

1 year ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Don't want that.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Burning everything with fire?

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Cool coz I'm maidenless

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Unlike Animal Crossing

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I found AC rather stressful. Too many FOMO mechanics

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just find it dull

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Basically Animal Crossing with a Hello Kitty theme.

1 year ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Why make new game when you can re-skin old one, money machine choo choo

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

On a similar theme, There's an early access game on Steam called Critter Cove. It's Animal Crossing mixed with Subnautica. I highly recommend it. Relaxing island punk theme with funny characters.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"mixed with Subnautica" as in, underwater and base building, or giant monsters and horror-like atmosphere?

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Diving, scavaging, town building, underwater exploration. There's a health bar, but no enemies or bad guys, so to speak.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But Marvel Rivals is free...

1 year ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 11

So is your first hit of hard drugs.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And? I have better things to do with my time

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

If it's free then you are the product.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

so is free candy from strangers

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Is it "free" like Marvel Snap is "free"? You can play it but you will lose to every non-CPU player if you don't do all the microtransactions?

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So far, only purely cosmetic items are monetized. characters, maps, modes are not. There are no purchaseable "buffs" or anything like that.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

is it any good? "IT'S FREE"

1 year ago | Likes 86 Dislikes 0

Also the fan-created 'art'. So much 'art'.

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

By all accounts it's fine. If you like hero shooters it's a pretty good one, but like it certainly isn't much new or exciting, just solid

1 year ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It's hot, and it's ready.

1 year ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

To be fair, it is actually pretty fucking good. They saw how Blizzard fucked up Overwatch and decided to make the genre good again.

1 year ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 3

And then they fired the US team, including the game director, a few weeks ago.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Give me OG overwatch over either of them

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

*the monkey's paw slowly curls a finger*

1 year ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Which means they are trying to monetize me down to the freckle in my left arm pit.

1 year ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Nope.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's actually not as aggressively monetized as something like Overwatch or Fortnite. Like, there's paid cosmetics and season passes but all characters, modes, maps, etc. are free.

1 year ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Free free, or "Free - You either spend real-world money or high double-digit to triple-digit hours of playtime to just barely earn enough in-game currency to afford once thing" free?

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'd say the amount of hours is closer to the mid double-digits.

1 year ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Free free actually. At least so far they have been unlocked for everyone the moment they were released and no plans to change announced.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Free games end up being VERY expensive.

1 year ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

Absolutely nothing of game mechanics is behind a paywall.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I have a hard rule. Never pay for anything but the game (slight correction, may she'll put for a remaster). Never paid for skins, mobage, passes. Payment history on Android is about three quid to unlock streaming for Plex, and tbh I could have worked around that.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The model is full free to play outside of cosmetics and sprays and junk. Everything is expensive if you spend on things you don't need.

1 year ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

A lot of games make it so that you don't technically need to buy stuff, but it becomes a lot less fun and more grindy if you don't.

1 year ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

For sure, I didn't mean to imply I disagreed with the notion, only that this particular game isn't a great example of that issue among the general F2P market. At least not yet anyhow.

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The only "grindy" part is the Battle Pass, and even then if you play just once every three days, theres plenty of challenges to complete the BP within the time limit. You also get the BP permanently like Halo Infinite.
