Went to Disneyland earlier this year and was amazed at how often the rides were breaking down and it was generally the newer ones. Amazing effects when they worked but clearly they lose a lot of reliability the more complicated it gets.
It's not the complexity that is the cause of the issues, any machine that can be built can be maintained. It is the penny pinching precluding the maintenance that is the problem.
