May be, it was just my thinking.
A little back story: My dad remarried when I was about eight years old, to a psychotic woman, and out of that, my brother and I ended up with four almost equally psychotic step-siblings.
I've realized now that it was mainly just my step-mom's doing. She was a pretty bad alcoholic for a time, was horribly jealous of my dad spending any time with me (I was 7), refused to include mainly me in any family activities/trips/pictures, had my little brother and I sleeping in a bunk bed, in a laundry room with no cooling whatsoever during the weeks that we'd spend at their house during the summer. I live in Tucson, AZ. Coupled with the dryer running most of the time, it was horrible.
Anywho, one of my step-sisters got into being a huge meth addict around the age of 14. She was the worst.
Ridiculed my brother and I, sexually abused us on more than one occasion, constantly made fun of pretty much everything about me...
One day, I got sick of her shit and called her a bitch. Apparently, it was bad timing.
I had no idea that she was tweaked out of her mind when I said it.
She launched herself with meth-like reflexes across the living room at me, arms outstretched, and her hands clamped tight around my throat. Next thing I know, my step brother had thrown himself into her and it surprised her enough to release her tweaker superhero strength from my esophagus.
She's since cleaned up but she's still a crazed nut job who does anything she can to play the victim in any given situation and bullies people until they give her what she wants. Three kids have made her only slightly less selfish.
Anyway, tonight she posted on Facebook that some dude gave her a hard time about not being able to put store credit on a gift card, and after her final "no", he jumped over her register and grabbed her by the throat.
I know she's slightly better than she used to be and she was just doing her job. No one deserves to feel unsafe at work... But after everything, I felt a weird sense of satisfaction that she was getting to understand the terrified, helpless feeling that I'd felt.
Tl;dr: Stepsister was a crazed meth head, OP got sick of her shit when she was little, called her a bitch and stepsister choked her. Tonight, sister was working, angry customer tried to strangle her and OP was oddly okay with it.
goboltz
And that kids is how I Meth your mother . . .
PolishPancakeWithCanadianMapleSyrup
This is exactly why I need my children to love my SO as much as I do. I left my ex because my oldest said he was constantly mean to my kids
WhitePhoenix
Also, how are relations with your stepbrother? Has to be somewhat decent if he intervened to save your life.

I live in tucson, it is always hot as shit. And this town is in one of the worst addiction epidemics I have seen.
ninjasaiyan777
Tucson eh? Nice to see a Tusken Raider on here. Hope you're aight.
DARKLARK
Fellow Tuscan checking in, gotta love that AZ meth
redleif1
I feel bad, but I chuckled when I read meth-like reflexes.

Alcoholic stepmom? Check. Meth? Check. Tucson? Check. Yup, story checks out.
imbettingimnot
All it needs is a little heroin thrown in somewhere and no one would ever need a better example of this city.
Gorzine
Imgur fucked me up... Untill the end i expected a giant crustacean or a trebuchet :( I hope your pain will ease with time OP
dnnygldsmth0
The word karma is seriously misunderstood in the west to mean result. It actually means cause
imjusthereforthemoneynotyourbs
"And with with meth-like reflexes, she hurled her self across the room!" Sounds like a comic book line.
RickFromDimensionC132
Tucsonan here, this sounds pretty mild for our local crank crowd. Glad you came out okay.
nasreal
+1 for meth-like reflexes lol
snow33
+1 for the phrase Meth like reflexes
Somanyquestions
Wanna bet she never thought it was anything similar than what she did to you?
imbettingimnot
I'd be surprised if she even remembers doing it.

This, people repress these things

Should have commented "Oh I totally know the feeling" heh
imbettingimnot
This is the best
HallowedMemory
No need to feel any guilt, it was just karma fam.
ohmegatron
Holy shit the past for images have been people talking about how their family is a bunch of doughnuts.
ohmegatron
*douchebags
imbettingimnot
I think I prefer "doughnuts" as an insult. It doesn't make any sense, but I love it.
ohmegatron
It was a glorious typo. I'm going to start using it.
LeeKobayashiThatAsianBoy
Dude, fucking brutal, fuck them, go you
Llohr
A "Hey, now you know how it feels to be strangled by a lunatic" Facebook post is pretty much obligatory now.
abbadonsin
My big sister tried to strangle me one day when we were younger too. I handled it the mature way and put Nair in her shampoo.
YouJustActivatedMyTrapCard
Who uses a dryer in Arizona in the summer?
Noevilgifs
Well if you leave your shirt on a car for too long it will literally melt if it's polyester, plus a lot of us have no clothes lines in mesa.
Noevilgifs
Mostly from the fact that the second half of summer there's a chance a haboob with take your 20$ jeans away
DontEverMoveHere
What's a "haboob"
Noevilgifs
A giant wall of dust and wind followed by rain, usually knocks out power and causes car crashes
DontEverMoveHere
Interesting. Thanks. Can't say I didn't expect something derogatory though.
amilez
Right? Just put the clothes on and go outside. Or clothes line if you have one.
narwallaby
Clothes get crispy when drying outside. But I'd dry them outside if it wasn't against my hoa (we have a view fence)
amilez
I've always just used the dryer. I have no clothes line so I'd have to throw it over the wood fence and then it gets splintery. HOA's suck
karreck
Do you want scorpions in your shirt? Because that's how you get scorpions in your shirt?
amilez
Eh. Just shake it out before bringing it in. I've yet to encounter scorpions in my house/outside in the 26 years I've been in Tucson.
imbettingimnot
I only saw them when I was little and it seemed like it was at least one a day. The last one I saw was probably when I was about 10 y/o.
narwallaby
I've seen tons in Phoenix. Almost stepped on a few.
Dowtchaboy
In nearby Atlanta my sister in law uses dryer for EVERY load of washing. Local regulations forbid washing lines. They use SO much energy.
michellelee233
What in the world.
Brandwin
Blaming step mom when your dad allowed it to happen. Sounds like your dad was shitty too.
ioscius
sounds like they all suck
zma123456
I was just saying that. I'm glad someone else pointed that out as well.
Nattodesu
I mean, I was in a very similar position to the OP and absolutely my dad was a shitty parent, but by that time her kids were already fucked.
DiscipleOfHelix
Was in a similiar situation as OP, dad was a great person and had a spine until it came to step mom, fucking bitch.
imbettingimnot
So, as far as my dad goes: he wasn't necessarily shitty. I've had a conversation with him about any/all events that transpired with her 1/?
imbettingimnot
and in that conversation, I remembered that he wasn't around for a lot of it. Did he know our sleeping arrangements and choose to ignore 2/?
imbettingimnot
How dismissive she was of me when he was around? Yes. My dad wasn't going to win any farther of the year awards by any means and there's 3/?
imbettingimnot
Maybe a chance he's even feigning ignorance. He also recognized that he should have done more to protect us and he's the only one to 4/?
imbettingimnot
Have apologized. He's made a pretty massive effort to try to make up for some of that, recently. I agree that he was partially to blame, 5/?
AutumnPumpkin
I think abused women who let their kids be abused, are also shitty parents.
Nattodesu
I agree! This is where people really need to examine their idea of blame. Shitty and at fault are sometimes different things, male or female
Eunoterp
So....her name is Karma?
JiveTian
imbettingimnot

Dont believe any confession bear story

I don't believe you could think that

Jokes on you. I don't think
fblurbg
Mine was true.

Strangled = dead, choked = lived. so which is it? She dead or alive.
ScottPilgrimVSTheIndians
Based off of reading the story, I think it's pretty obvious that OP meant 'choked'.
glitchead
"No no no, choking is what you do when you eat too fast. I am SSSSSTRANGLING..." - Handsome Jack, Borderlands 2
WhitePhoenix
Did you not fuckin read
SpaceTimer8032
I don't know why you got downvoted bc you're right, she clearly lived
SenileLlama
You must be great at parties.
imbettingimnot
In all honesty, I was just trying to avoid being too redundant. I didn't realize that they meant completely different things.
DontEverMoveHere
I wasn't trying to be an Imgur nazi, I was just confused. I hope you get past the past and move on positively.
TheGame21x
Technically it just means choking someone with the intent to cause death. Death doesn't have to follow, even though it usually does.
thefrayedendsofsanity
Schroedinger's stepsister.
DontEverMoveHere
My thought as I posted the question.
spaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaccee
Choked = inside the throat, strangled = outside the throat. Handsome Jack taught me.
NaxAttack
http://gph.is/2bYXZ1Z
NoMartiniNoParty
Neither are necessarily fatal - I think it's that choking is restriction of the airways and strangling is restriction of blood vessels
GeorgePotompkin
That's how I've heard it explained before.
fabianvazquez262
Choking is food, strangling is when people do it
Dungeongeek
Same with electrocute vs shock that one always bugs me
DontEverMoveHere
I'm with you on that.
