Lost way too many friends to Conservative Politics over the years. We were skateboarders, punks, pot-heads. Grunge, Gansta' Rap and our parent's 60's rock. We've all had our ups and downs but going from "fuck you, I won't do what you tell me" to "well, if they'd just 'complied' they wouldn't get shot." Worse, wondering why their kids can't stand them.
Yeah. It's a bad cycle and it gets worse and worse over the years, as the "qualified immunity" becomes completely systemic and recruiting becomes personality based. And now, no decent person wants to be a cop, so the inflow is horrible
Yeah, penn is about as far from the right as you can get and puts his money, yes, HIS money and himself where his mouth goes. He's the real deal. He builds houses for poor in his spare tine as well, I hear. As far as I know, he's dedicated most of his life to helping others.
Just a prime example of someone being an amazing actor, and a good person. He does alot of humanitarian work, and 90% of it is off camera: He's not doing it for his ego, or his PR profile.
I understand what "the war on Christmas" bullshit is all about now. I didnt realize that it was a white supremacy dog whistle. The plot of the series HUNTERS is truer than I want to think.
Military rules of engagement and, of course, having actual consequences (i.e. no qualified immunity) helps a lot. But still some Military do get pulled into it for their own reasons (2nd amendment, etc.)
There was a friend that I talked to literally every night for hours either on the phone of IMing (remember that??). Thought maybe I would like reconnecting as adults. Looked him up a few years back and there were flags and ARs everywhere. Nope.
Them: Why don't you come to any family events? Me: Most of the people that plan the events have blocked me for being "too woke," and the ones who haven't, all sided with them, so that might be why. *** Fuck social media and the echo chambers it creates.
"Why must you make everything political?" Say the people who just finished the most hateful and slur-filled diatribe, right before backpedalling into saying it was all just a joke.
"We can have different opinions and still be friends." Well you're of the opinion that I should be murdered in the street like a dog, so it makes it really hard to be willing to invite you to the barbecue. Yeah, I know we grew up together and have a lot of history, and I'm letting "one little disagreement" end years of friendship, but that disagreement is over whether or not I should be allowed to live.
I've honestly been trying to find a few of my childhood and teen friends. I did reconnect with one, thankfully. The one I want to find most of all was taken into foster care due to sexual abuse.
I still keep track of 3 guys I knew from elementary school all the way thrive high school. One was always the short angry man- Cop. Second was always the one who didn't get jokes, bad grades, didn't understand movies, no imagination, factory worker, biker, MAGA. Third was always the quiet one, funny, but quiet, witty, intelligent. Professional Wedding Photographer, and gay. Strangely, they still hang out together.
I was at that age of Fast Times. It was the Reagan years. We were punks, metalheads and dope smokers. We were anti authority. We hated the PMRC and DARE. So many I hung with back then are idiot orange turd supporters.
The girl who insisted she was a witch is now one of those āchristiansā who doesnāt follow any of the Bible, but uses their status to bully outsiders
Nah, they just stretched the costume over, look at the arms. In the original he's wearing an oversized shirt and a button up. The measurements look similar.
I had a friend (we never hung out but it was a small school) in high school who really couldāve been a bully but never quite crossed the line from sorta jerk to outright mean. He later dated a girl who was super in being dominated which fed his violence, she loved being punched (super uncomfortable to be around them) - fast forward heās an MSP PD, and I thought for sure when I heard the Floyd news, that Iād see him. It wasnāt but he fit the bill
The racist piece of shit we kicked out of my friend group like 5 years ago now goes by the online name of "ICEAgent47" and he's just as much of a dumb piece of shit as you can imagine
There was a kid I knew who was really into the 2edgy4u late 90's early 00's atheism and libertarianism - saw him on my feed, oh hey, wonder what that guy's up toaahhhh it's racism. Boy it's just a lot of racism.
Had a cousin thst in HS wanted to be a cop specifically to bully people. Of course he became a trumper. He ended up divorced and going to jail a lot instead.
One I threw hands with had a sister who comitteed suicide after being raped by him. Before I had thought I let my temper get thebbetter of mr regarding his bullshit... had a lot more faith in my judgment after. He had two sisters... they were both victims. I hope she's doing ok now.
I managed a fast food place. Had a guy working for me who was *useless.* I mean literally any task I'd give him he'd fuck up, whine, and give up. He didn't last long. And he was in his 20s, not some fresh-faced teen.
BUT his daddy was a cop and pushed him through BLET, and now he's a town cop. To my knowledge he's been involved in two excessive force claims.
I ran into him at a Chinese place years later. I dropped a few insults that went over his head and got the fuck out of there.
Every athlete that drank away his scholarship in high school became a cop, minus the one that couldn't pass the psychological exam and became security for self storage units that got fired for bringing his own gun. So you can imagine their de-escalation tactics were top notch
Thereās even a lower level that become prison guards. A friend did it for awhile he said a significant number canāt even read. And being able to read is absolutely not a job requirement.
"So you can imagine their de-escalation tactics were top notch" lol :P One of the skills a law enforcement SHOULD have. De-escalation, empathy, integrity, etc.
My guess is that the Security guard company does not have license to have armed guards and if one show up whit a gun.. that can cause a lot of troble for the company. alternative the health insurence requires all staff using/carrying guns to carry a company gun that the company or someone have inspected and put a in complience whit regulations (aka health insurence will now cover it) random beat cop shows up whit his Gluck 9 is it maintained, does it even work and all that.
