#14 I always TRY to look in the opposite opposite directions, when crossing. Just in case of stolen fleeing cars, pursuing cops that haven't yet turned on the siren, or anything really. Because it's the middle of the road and I'm made of meat. Laws are laws, but still.... meat. 🥩 🚗💨

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Yeah. I almost got hit today. I wasn't fully paying attention and the crosswalk told me to cross, but as soon as i stepped off the sidewalk a car ran the red while hugging the right line. One more step and it would have hit me.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#4 what a lovely pattern for a dress

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

#17 And this is why we don't try to be "nice" and instead follow the traffic laws. The truck was going too fast, but that was still 100% the car's fault. I bet they try to wave people through four-way stops as well.

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Difficult to judge the truck's speed around the curve so car driver tried to play it safe. Third driver had no situational awareness and would have had trouble even if the car had raced ahead. I imagine they were foolishly planning on shooting the gap as well.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Depending on the state, rear ending anyone makes it automatically your fault.

I.E. Maybe the viewer should have been braking earlier? /

Yeah that was a shit situation. I would have floored it if I was the car, regardless if I saw what was behind me.

I feel the bison is a youngling. Full grown bison don't take shit from anyone... so I've been told.

#1 how I met your mother

2 months ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Additionally, everything you wear casually was once considered underwear. And during the transition phases, more of it was cheekily displayed past the overgarment. T-shirts were under your button up. Button up was under your sport coat. And on and on

Kids are somehow rubber. It's wild.

I know that beach, many good memories.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Is that Torrence Beach? That looks like Palos Verdes in the background. Used to live in Long Beach.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We moved from Torrance when I was 5, but it does look familiar from the few times I've been back. Went back in '03 and found the Der Weinerschnitzel place I remembered from my childhood.. Same building. Still there. Grabbed a dog and some fries.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes, Torrance Beach - hello neighbor from years ago.

It would be better, at least to me, if they used real bacon instead of the Bacco stuff.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That looks like chopped bacon pieces that is real, but it could be that prepackaged stuff.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This looks good and all, but I quite enjoy just the potato and butter. And none of that scraping and mashing things ahead of time.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Add a bit of soy sauce. Secret topping from Japan.

WHERES THE SALT

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

About 7 seconds in, first thing that is applied after separating the skin.

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You boil your potatoes in salty water and eat it with butter. It's good.

#6 stupid driver, but wtf, even your school busses are privatised in that backward ass country?

2 months ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 4

Yes

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

lol Yes, our school buses actually are privatized in most states. We do have A LOT of people here.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

That's a weird explanation as to why it's a corporation doing it lol. You have more than china? Europe? South America? Lol

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Backwards ass is right. Private school buses, private community drinking water supplies, private healthcare, and more. We are apparently comfortable with for-profit corporations bleeding us dry for basic services and our federal government invading other countries for fossil fuels. Like, repeatedly. The 250-year experiment in American democracy has failed.

2 months ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Depends on the location. About 60% of students ride a contractor bus, and 40% a publicly-owned bus. The buses at my daughter's school are all owned by the county we live in (although we don't ride them, we walk). The completely different state/county I grew up in, the city schools' buses are owned and operated by the city, but the county school buses are contractors.

2 months ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I think the contracted buses are more common in cities where one company will serve multiple districts, but I know there were a couple drivers for my district who actually owned their own buses. School buses are also often used by camps, so I'm guessing it's easier for private contractors to rent the buses than if they're owned by the city.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have never seen a school bus like this. Usually, it owned buy the county or city.

2 months ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

? privatized.......

2 months ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

You realise people spell things differently in other countries

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

lol wtf does spelling have to do with my question...

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

the bus doesn't say it belongs to a school district or something, it says Pioneer Transportation Corp. on it.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

What is cant believe is that there a specialised school buses. Here, school buses are regular buses. They are used all day everyday, not resign to only working morning then afternoon on school days. Seems a massive waste to have thousands of buses parked up whenever they arent doing school duties.

2 months ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

A huge part of why the US is the way it is is due to car companies influencing the government to build things in their favor, decade after decade. Public transportation is horrendous in most cities/towns if there even is any. Bike lanes are rare outside of progressive states.

2 months ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Our public transport system (australia) is nothing to crow about, but in small country towns the buses are still used for more than just school runs. Bigger cities have buses, but still not great outside capitals. Bike lanes are improving, but not awesome.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

these kids all have to be picked up and dropped off directly in front of their houses, most of which are probably going to be in the suburbs. even if regular public transit ran out to the suburbs, the parents wouldn't want their kids walking to a bus stop or riding with poor strangers.

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Do they have to be though? There could just be normal bus stops in the suburbs that the kids walk to by themselves

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ummm. Are you suggesting hundreds if not thousands of kids should use the public transport instead? Taking up room for commuters?

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

They are suggesting that the public transport system be expanded enough to comfortably be able to take those kids, rather than making special busses just for school kids that see no other use

2 months ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They have dedicated school only routes and buses. Just run with regular everyday buses. Once the hus has done its school run, it goes on to other routes.

2 months ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They have enough buses for both....

Regular buses have school special on their display sign and the route number.

They take the majority of kids.

In the more kids arrive at school depending on what time they catch the bus, so it's spread out.

In the arvo, everyone leaves at once, so a lot more buses are needed for that one instance.
And those same buses are then used for regular commuters at peak hour.

It's far more efficient and it gives flexibility.

2 months ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

UPDATE: Made for last night's dinner and it was quite lovely. big hit all around

2 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, yes, pre-chewed baked potato. Honestly, this one kinda made me gag, but then again, I don't like foods with baby food consistency. Applesauce and yogurt get a pass.

2 months ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 18

I mean... I guess that's one way to describe mashed potatoes? I understand the mushy consistency thing though. My roommate has issues with mushy textured foods too, so i get where you're coming from. I just look at it as mashed potatoes with all the fixins.
