The Trump economic plan… Bribe Trump, then everyone gets penalized financially and tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy.

Making a deal with trump is like using a cursed monkey’s paw to make wishes

Not to worry, I'm sure the consumer will happily pick up the shortfall.

LOL, there’s got to be a word this particular kind of schadenfreude. Industrial schadenfreude? Überschadenfreude?

Doesn’t trump store the revenue from the Venezuelan oil in Qatar? They could always use that.

A lot of LNG in the region is not exported but used for intern high energy needs like desalination, the main water source in the region

Regime change in the U.S. now!

It started out like such a good idea, but the reality sinks in sooner or later that you cannot appease a tyrant.

It wasn't ever even a good idea

Just a reminder the national debt hit $39 trillion and the DJIA was at $45k yesterday, down from over $50k about a month ago.

Qatar is also one of the worlds largest Helium producers. Semiconductor companies use it by the boat load and may be in for a huge shortage.

Why is Qatar the main source of helium?
Can it not be acquired elsewhere.
Legitimate question as I never had to ask the question or wonder where helium is produced

Good question. As I understand it, helium and lead are a byproduct of the degradation of uranium and other radioactives. Helium is typically only present in large percentage in natural gas wells near these conditions. So when natural gas is collected, the helium is separated. There are not that many places on earth with those conditions. Qatar also has lots of natural gas.

Thanks! So a source of LNG is the best supply.
That makes sense

That's EXACTLY the message the Iranians wanted to convey: "Having a US base on your soil doesn't make you safer. To the contrary, it increases the risk that something really expensive is going to hit your wallet.".
Although, they also couldn't help but send the message, that it is also having an armed Iran in your neighbourhood, that does that, so that strategy really is a double edged sword.

The Iranian leadership fully committed to the international pariah act, demonstrating that they should never have nuclear weapons, because they clearly would use them in a last stand scenario like this one given the scale of their non-nuclear retaliation - and not necessarily just in one where they are, just this once, the one who was first being attacked from the outside. Imagine nukes exploding over various middle Eastern capitals in a world where every world power is led by unhinged madmen.

"because they clearly would use them in a last stand scenario like this one given the scale of their non-nuclear retaliation" ... that is a wild assumption, how do u get to that?

Decades of this regime using every weapon at their disposal the moment they have it. Decades of extreme death cult behavior, like when they sent kids with plastic keys for entry to the Paradise through mine fields to clear them during the Iran-Iraq War. The total disregard for human life and dignity they have towards their own citizens, let alone those of other countries. The destruction of Israel as their main and constantly confirmed policy goal since the very beginning.
