D&D Help needed

Jan 24, 2018 4:35 PM

So lately I've been watching people play some D&D on twitch and YouTube and I'm loving it. Me and a couple of my online friends want to get into it but don't know where to start. If the beautiful people of Imgur could recommend me to some websites where I can learn the ins and outs of the game so that I could possibly dm for my friends that would be great. We have no so he what we're doing so we don't even have characters in mind. Any help is highly appreciated and I'm not going to lie I'm super excited to get into the game. If you've read this far thank you!

I'd buy the 5th Edition starter set. Less than 20 bucks. Basic rules for play, premade characters adn adventure! Try it out

Roll20s a great way to play online with people, but can be very overwhelming when you first open it. Dndbeyond is supposedly a good resource

Listen closely mate. https://rpg.rem.uz . Use that website of Tabletop PDFs for the rule books and such, it's how I learned how to play

There are plenty of 5e stand-alone adventures available for download if you look for them. I would recommend starting with some of these

before investing a bunch of $ into hardcover adventures.

Get the starter box set, premade characters, decent adventures, and enough monsters to help you continue for a little bit. Hours of fun!

Figure out what kind of game your players want to play. Non stop combat (dungeon crawl) role play( spy game with lots of moving cogs)

Don't bite off more than you can chew. If it is your first time DMing, don't expect your players to do what you wanted them to do. It isn't

a video game where there is only one correct way of doing things. Adapt, improvise, and roll initiative. I believe in you.

(1/2) You can d/l the BASIC rules here: http://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules That can get you started. At bare minimum you

(2/2) should have a Players Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide. Find a local game store that runs Adventurers League and try that out.

Roll20 is a great sight to play with your friends online. DnD beyond is the best sight to make characters and check out how they work

Ophthalmologist can help with your sight also.
