Brain dead....

Oh ho I may have quit that hellhole but I'm keeping that one

It's an entry level position with next to no training, what do you expect? Source: I worked there.

Went to Home D yesterday and asked this lady where trash can lids are. Idk if she wanted to help as little as possible, she just mumbled.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Home Depot moves employees from department to department if they wanna move usually the ppl who are good at knowing it all has moved up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just wanted to build a shelf. Why am I building an interplanetary transportation device?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

I worked at Home Depot back in the day. They don't know shit now.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for sharing your love OP

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tbh I ask because I don't want to spend 30 minutes looking for something

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cheer up, home owner

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To be fair, I needed a T8 light fixture that was already wired and they had it but Lowes didn't. :)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's why you should order it online then pick it up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's retail, results will vary, but there's usually someone around that really knows their shit.

Classic Loki

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I ask for help all the time, but thats usually because i need help finding something that should be in the isle im in but for some 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Reason isnt there!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that the guy with all the "Metal" versions of various movie and tv themes on youtube?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no, Loki from the Marvel Cinematic Universe

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Honestly a tablet at the end of the aisle would probably tell you everything you need to know. Throw in few Kiva droids and who needs humans

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

You could also use the Home Depot app. If you know what you're looking for, it'll tell you exactly where it is by aisle and bay number.

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Yeah its pretty good, I just wish more businesses would do away with people where technology is obviously superior.

Can I say 'the round thingy that locks on to the square thingie on the back of my toilet' and it finds that?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What a time to be alive.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And inventory at that store and others. Plus free Wifi to use it.

I worked in the wine department of Waitrose and those middleclass old fucks thought I was a sommelier, asking for wine a recommendation for

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

their fucking dinner party.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who works for HD, were really need better uniforms, even just a tag that says what department people work in since (1/2)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

a lot of us, especially receiving and lot guys, need to move through a lot of departments that aren't theirs, a good chunk of guys (2/3)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

get stopped in a department they know nothing about just because the customer has no way of telling who's what, and that's (3/4)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

not even getting into communication and workforce problems (4/4, honest mistake)

I get that, but I had a guy come in once who wanted an entire wood working project worth done with finish quality cuts done. I spent 2 hours

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

helping him out, and told him next time he had to buy a saw, thats just not our job. plus those saws are wood butchers, not a clean cut

your capitalization makes the saw sound so ominous haha, but yeah, sometimes associate like to hide, I tried to help when I could

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's why Menards is taking over

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Plumbing, Electrical, and appliances too! The savings will always come right back to you!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, sang it in the voice too :( I need to wear earplugs at work

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Honestly, I know a good amount about building/crafting and I still find the staff pretty helpful

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

I market for home depot interiors and i couldn't agree more. They're pretty knowledgeable

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Home depot lumber employee here, i like to think i help a lot of home owners :)

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can't imagine too many people go to home Depot that don't know what they're looking for.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The hammers are not always with the tools.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At a Home Depot, they almost always are with the tools.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You'd think! But I've seen them with the nails a couple times. Which makes sense.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Work at home depot, u probably asked a cashier or m.e.t. those who work in departments specialize in that said department only. I work 1/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With met. I know nothing about products or how they work. I keep shelves according to vendor's specs, that's my job. I get called 2/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All types of names for not knowing stuff. I'm not brain dead, I just don't specialize in the thing you're looking for. Dick

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well why the fuck is refractory cement by drywall?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Because it's easier for contractors to go to one section to get common job items. I worked in the lumber/construction goods department

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are contract restrictions with various vendors like DAP, Henrys, SIKA and Quikrete. No Henrys in paint dept, sika allowed in 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because that's the building materials section: lumber, drywall, concrete, fencing, etc.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

as a former employee we ask the same shit, its corporate that places/lays out stuff most of the time. drove me nuts

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

3/2 so sometimes things have to be put in weird places because vendors fight

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why is masonry caulking in paint?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

2/2 department except in the concrete section, etc. But DAP, Henrys and SIKA all make products that count as adhesives, caulks and sealants

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There are seasonal folks who don't know too much, but most employees have a lot of training in their department. Just don't ask a cashier!

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

This goes for a lot attendant as well. Yes they know the store but as a former lot guy I was paid to know where my carts were not product.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As a cashier @ Walmart, also yes. I know a fair amount due to time spent there, but I do not shop there often, do not stock, do not know.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's okay, I worked in construction for 7 years and was wrapping up my civil engineering degree, I was in D21, let them think i'm dumb.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

21/22 the never gets the reach truck or help. Miss it some times

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do too at times, but then I come to my senses and remember the customers..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Home Depot used to hire ex plumbers, electricians, etc. Now? well....it's different.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a ss employee I can give you exact directions to almost every product. Ask me anything about it though and I'm like nah no clue sorry

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a cashier at home depot holy shit yes

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Oh, OP you haven't dealt with brain-dead store staff until you've asked for assistance at Canadian Tire.

9 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 9

Now I'm curious.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and the only guy that talks to you wants to sign you up for a MasterCard . Lol

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And will not go away until you're forced to tell him to fuck off and die!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I dont know why this delights me so much, but it tickles me to see my neighbors up north all making the same Mastercard reference

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The moment you walk in a Canadian Tire store the card hounds are on you like white on rice. They're relentless.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But seriously, do you want a Canadian Tire Rewards Mastercard? DO YOU?!?

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

No thanks. No, thank you. No! Seriously, no. Look, just leave me alone. Fuck off!!

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Discount Tire might give them a run for their money. But I've never dealt with Canadian Tire...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

americans will never understand the struggle. its a pandemic

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Always apologizing yet never doing anything wrong intentionally, it's the worst

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, they never apologize. If they even speak to you, you're supposed to feel overwhelming gratitude.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

psst, it's a joke about all Canadians being nice and apologizing too much.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know. The real joke is the folks at CT are the antithesis of the Canadian stereotype.
