Gene Wilder and Donald Sutherland are my Older Gentleman crushes!

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Had to watch this in English class because the director hinted that the film is biblical, where Willy Wonka is Jesus. The children are sin.

Citation needed.

You know? I've never really appreciated just how beautiful that somersault really is until just now.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

+1 for Gene Wilder every time!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's also that infamous scene with him going, "you get NOTHING! YOU LOSE! GODDAY SIR!" Charlie's reaction was genuine.

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Genius Wilder.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like to think that though Roald Dahl didn't like the movie, he liked Gene Wilder.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dahl hated this movie and if Dahl hates this movie then it's legit!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love everything about this man and he made great contributions to every movie he was in. I just watched Young Frankenstein again

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yet, Ronald Dahl hated the movie.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I watched Young Frankenstein for the first time yesterday. I can confirm that Gene Wilder is indeed a genius.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He never stopped being Willy Wonker

Here is my reason. It's nsfw http://www7.pic-upload.de/02.09.12/5zmdjwo7mwb.gif

Yes, I realized this after I typed it lol

He's still alive.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

Johnny Depp looks weird in this.

13 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 9

In my experience, Johnny Depp looks weird in everything.

13 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

This movie should not have been remade. It is simply perfect, and yummy looking, and creepy, and perfect.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

is* a genius

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Gene Wilder in Blazzing Saddles is by far one of the greatest roles ever. Ever.

13 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

He was originally scripted to be Heddy Lamarr

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

HEDLEY. HEDLEY!

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Even better, he was a last minute change. He just walked in and absolutely fucking nailed it.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Put your hands on either side of that chess piece. On the count of 3, GRAB IT. That ain't no contest man. You're a mile away!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*was* a genius? He's still alive!

13 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 2

I almost died when I saw "was". Oh, my heart!

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

also, that scene where they were in the tunnel and he said 'we're all going to die'? yeah, that wasn't in the script.

13 years ago | Likes 1282 Dislikes 3

I thought I read somewhere more of that scene was improved by him. So them reacting to his poem was all just them reacting.

13 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 0

that's what I meant, but I didn't have room to say it.

13 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 2

right on. either way it's the worlds creepiest scene and I love it.

13 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

seriously, I wanna youtube it to see their reactions now that I know all this, but it freaks me out too bad, unfortunately

13 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I love pendulums song, through the loop. http://youtu.be/QZ9JT1WOGjk

13 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Just rediscovered this album! Thanks!

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

"song" is a strong word...

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 9

Song. n. A short poem or other set of words set to music or meant to be sung. Literally the definition of what has happened in this track.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Voices = Song. Still technically correct, though I suppose "track" would suit you better.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I was referring to how un-like my choice of music this was :P

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've listened to the genre for 10 years, I've heard all the jokes. Hence my response. ;p

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's a MADMAN. I love it. I'm sure Roald Dahl had him in mind when he wrote the book :P

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

or someone much like him.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I read that Roald Dahl HATED that movie, and that he wanted someone else to play Wonka.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's crazy. He's just jealous.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

why did he dislike it so much?

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Apparently he was brought onto the team to make the film, but his opinions were completely disregarded.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WOW. I would be so mad.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In the end, he just didn't like the way things were portrayed.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

C'mon now people! I had a mini heart attack thinking Gene Wilder had died. Gene Wilder IS a genius. +1 for that great man.

Right?! Dang, people need to get their tenses right.

13 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Haha yeah mine went, "Was? WAS?! NOOOOOOOO!" and then I immediately googled him and started to breathe again

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I sometimes think all celebrities need this: http://www.abevigoda.com/

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This would be absolutely ideal

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Didn't Roald Dahl hate this movie?

13 years ago | Likes 289 Dislikes 6

He just thought it focused too much on Willy Wonka and not enough on Charlie.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I think I heard that somewhere... but I might be wrong.

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Try and find a writer who actually likes the movie adaptation of their book. Nigh impossible I say!

13 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Harper Lee.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

George RR Martin, but... it's a tv series, so I guess you could quibble

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

And he did the adaptation himself.

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well...s/he did say "nigh."

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Michael Crichton helped write the screen play for Jurassic Park BEFORE the book was even released.

13 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The one bitch who wrote Twilight

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Nope on this one, she didn't even want to finish the books when it came to the last one.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She shouldn't have even started!

13 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Agreed, wholeheartedly good sir.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chuck Palahniuk actually prefers Fight Club the movie to his book.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I think so, but it's because Willy Wonka ended up being the focus instead of Charlie. The child is supposed to be the hero, not Wonka.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I interpreted the movie as centering around willy wonka being saved by charlie. different from the book, but it's still present

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, but Wonka is the one everyone remembers. He is the memorable character, not Charlie.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The film's name was even changed to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, because it's nothing like his book. Tim Burton's version is 100x more similar to the novel than is the original movie.

13 years ago | Likes 173 Dislikes 4

To be honest, I did like Tim Burton's one better. I like a lot of his movies, and Christopher Lee was a big plus.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

And Tim Burton's version was 100x worse.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Besides making Willy Wonka an incredibly young dude.

13 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

I think a lot of what Tim Burton does is great, but i am tired of his Daddy Issues. Willy Wonka DID NOT HAVE DADDY ISSUES

13 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

It may be true that Burton's version was closer to the book in a lot of ways, but I still love the original more -- huge Dahl fan.

13 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 1

100x more like the book, but 100x worse as a film. Just terrible.

13 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 12

at this point in time if i ever see their names to promote a movie. I avoid it. they hit gold once after that they've been shoveling shit.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Everybody hates on that version but I really enjoyed it. They're both totally different. People need to calm their nostalgia-rage-boners.

13 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 6

I laughed +1

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree! It's upsetting that people hate the second because of how "different" it is from the first, when the first was the "different" one.

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Nostalgia-rage-boners? This was the best thing I've seen all day. You win the internet today!

13 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I am deeply upset to discover that people can get nostalgia-rage-boners.

13 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Correct me if I'm wrong because it's been a long time since I've read the book, but didn't Burton invent all of Wonka's past?

13 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Actually... I think the two movies are both about the same compared to the book. They both have an equal amount of differences.

13 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I thought that, aside from Wonka's past where his father was a dentist, Burton's version was more accurate. But maybe I should revisit.

13 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sort of. The biggest thing was the squirrels which were changed out of necessity. But the newer version modernized a few things as well.

13 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

there's a whole bit in another book about him growing up & his father was a dentist. the "differences" were just added from other dahl books
