Nope, nothing special about this warehouse from the outside.

But yet thousands of people visit this place every week.

Well, this is the INSIDE!

The location is called Tropical Island Resort and is located in Brandenburg, Germany

Swim, play in the sand, have a drink. About 25ºC (77ºF) inside.

Also there is a lot of "wild" animals inside to make it more realistic.

Like these ones.

They even have some bugs, in a safe storage.

The other end has a pool.

With cool lights during evenings for that tropical feeling.

Just look at this!

Wee!

Have a sleepover in a tent?

What a warehouse..

Mmh... fake summer...

I live in the Caribbean. They should make a "warehouse" with snow and polar bears and chilblains and shit

Looks like fun, needs more sunlight and insanely long waterslides though

This the ultimate middle finger to the pacific islands for being on the other side. "We'll make our own beach, with blackjack! And hookers!"

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Organised fun. They could have made a bit of effort on the inside of the dome. When you lay on a deck chair you're staring at a shed roof

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

and it smells of chlorine and B.O. Not to mention the humidity is 99.99 percent. I will pass.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Club tropicana drinks are freeeee!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Anyone else get annoyed that OP kept referring to this place as a warehouse?

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yeah. Where the hell is all the wares?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It makes me sad how not-pink those flamingos are. Clearly they're not getting enough of their natural diet.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Yes, I was just thinking the same thing! Those poor birds!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I live an hour away from this and only know it from posts like this one... still dont feel like going into this artificial contraption.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I'm sure you don't have a heater or a house then either.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

Those flamingoes are paler than the humans :/

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Flamingos in the nature are pink because they eat a lot of schrimps. They can be totally fine with some other diets as well.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I know, is just that they are not at their most faboulus looking like that ;)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah perfect for me.... a day at the beach without having to deal with the burning effects of the evil day star.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I dunno, even from the outside it looks pretty baller.

11 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 2

Yeah, I don't really see how someone can look at a giant zeppelin hangar and go "meh, nothing special".

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats why they really wanted to hold onto those Normandy beaches

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I'm glad someone made the joke. I'm pretty sure they went to the Netherlands just to get the beaches.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, I live in northern Germany and I can tell you I haven't been to the beach in ages. But I'm more of a marine type still.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nothern Germany is where the beaches are, though. It's less exciting when it's close.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I`ve ever seen bigger traffic jams as sunny weekends in Hamburg direction seaside.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is this a thing? When I visited my sister in Florida we ran into a lot of German tourists

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It is. no.1 destination for Germans in Holland is the beach. All they do is dig holes though, not much swimming.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hahaha, what a nice picture in my mind :D Ok. They are harmless, diggin holes at the beach. Feed them twice a day :) But yes I like it, too.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh yea German cruise ships are everywhere and German is a good language to learn if you want to work in the european tourism industry.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i have german family members and when they come to visit me in florida, they camp out at the beach - rain, hurricane or shine

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They should've painted the dome blue to imitate sky

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

yeah kt

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah i was wondering why they didnt do that, they spent so much on the place why not add a little bit of sky paint ?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This dome is about 300 feet tall and a 1000 feet long, have you any idea how much paint you would need?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

...compared to the cost of building this whole thing in the first place?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That was a leftover from a company who tried to build a huge airship but went bankrupt.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did the airship company also build insulation and heated pools and landscaping for them?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

No, and maybe cause thats why no money was left for a pool full of blue paint.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that an old zeppelin hangar?

11 years ago | Likes 542 Dislikes 6

yes

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

yes! The hangar was built by CargoLifter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CargoLifter

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yes

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But unfortunatly there are some thiefs. Some people's cars get stolen too. So don't go there by car. Further, 25*C is rather cold.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*Is that an old zeppelin hangar. The model they designed to be built there never got made, so they converted the place into this.

11 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 16

Yes,though "old" is relative.15 years. They could do this because German work safety mandated to build the hangar with 100 miles floor heatin

11 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

You can tell it is a comparatively new hangar; they used the newer clamshell doors rather than the big sliding ones to reduce turbulence.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a music junkie, the words zeppelin and hangar mean very different things to me

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 6

Yes, but if they're going for the sought after climate of a tropical location, 77 is a bit chilly.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

25 is perfect.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Agreed. Any more and you can't do anything remotely active.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I live on a tropical coastline, 25*c is just what you're used to, but sunny beaches are refreshing at 35*c because of the ocean.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

as someone from a cooler climate 25C is perfect!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

78ºF (25.5ºC for those of you outside the US) right now in Chicago.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

25,5ºC (78ºF for those of you in the US) is the perfect mid-day temperature. Especially with those looong, warm evenings we get in Norway.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i consider it to be a perfect day. not too hot, not too cold.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

25°C is high-summer where I live.

Nope. Water freeze point at 0 and boil point at 100 on sea level air pressure (on planet Earth). It is Farenheit which defies logic.

I don't think they were going for authentic, but rather, comfort. Fyi, most people up here would find 34C miserable. That's 93F. Why? ?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

33 degrees celsius here on Koh Samui, Thailand.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right now, and forever 34 degrees centigrade

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I get your pain, bro. 32C today here. At least in Brazil we kinda have a non-scorching season...and 40+ summers.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think you would actually die going from negative whatever to 34 celcius..

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of course it is. But why would a German willingly subject himself to that?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Eh... I lived 17 years of my life in tropical weather and it was always 22~27 ºC.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

34*c because thats how I grew up. everyone is going to argue their home temperatures.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

25 is more comfortable than 34, but I like 28 best.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Australia here, I literally shivered when I read 25*c. I said "wow! FREEZING!" because seeing a "beach" like that being so cold is so weird.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For Finland it's the ideal summer temp... But we do get -15 to -30 degrees celsius during the winter, that explains it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah but if your trying to simulate a tropical climate ... 25º isn't even enough to simulate a Southern European climate (where i live ) :P

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah but if your trying to simulate a tropical climate ... 25º isn't even enough to simulate a Southern European climate (where i live ) :P

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that's true enough :) We just dream of the tropics as a pleasant place, when in reality we'd sweat like a family of piglets ;)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Considering the humidity levels there, most people will sweat like pigs nevertheless ;)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

so colombia, venezuela?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It'll be the second :D

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It can be 25 with cold winds but it can also be 25 with humid atmosphere.

11 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

True. In Denmark 25 celcius is horrible sometimes because of no wind.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

You wouldn't like living in the mountains either. Winds at 25 degrees can sometimes feel like negative 10, and that's cold af during summer.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, I've always said this but no one understands me!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I imagine that going from negative temperature to positive would be a shock and 25 is more than tropical enough

11 years ago | Likes 311 Dislikes 0

i've done from 0 degrees in UK to 40degrees in Africa

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not really a shock actually: Most houses maintain indoor temperature of about 22ºC. It's just nice to come inside from the cold.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Do you know what the difference between 22, 25 and 34 degrees Celsius is?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's also in Germany - their bodies aren't used to 30+ degree weather, and they might think it's too hot to be enjoyable.

11 years ago | Likes 106 Dislikes 0

As an American neither am I

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then there's the Finnish who walk into a steaming box and feel refreshed.

11 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Yeah but their goal is to be extremely hot, the goal in that place is to relax at a nice temperature.

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

In some summers in Germany it is 30+ degrees

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but for us Europeans who get winter, 25ºC is the perfect summer temperature.

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Wish it never got over 25* here in summer lol (australia)
