Nope, nothing special about this warehouse from the outside.
But yet thousands of people visit this place every week.
Well, this is the INSIDE!
The location is called Tropical Island Resort and is located in Brandenburg, Germany
Swim, play in the sand, have a drink. About 25ºC (77ºF) inside.
Also there is a lot of "wild" animals inside to make it more realistic.
Like these ones.
They even have some bugs, in a safe storage.
The other end has a pool.
With cool lights during evenings for that tropical feeling.
Just look at this!
Wee!
Have a sleepover in a tent?
What a warehouse..
Mmh... fake summer...
BangForTheBuck
I live in the Caribbean. They should make a "warehouse" with snow and polar bears and chilblains and shit
whyexactly
Looks like fun, needs more sunlight and insanely long waterslides though
ItsHardToBeAnOptimist
This the ultimate middle finger to the pacific islands for being on the other side. "We'll make our own beach, with blackjack! And hookers!"
morehumanthanhuman
Organised fun. They could have made a bit of effort on the inside of the dome. When you lay on a deck chair you're staring at a shed roof
JudgeVonDoom
and it smells of chlorine and B.O. Not to mention the humidity is 99.99 percent. I will pass.

BangForTheBuck
Yeah. Where the hell is all the wares?

It makes me sad how not-pink those flamingos are. Clearly they're not getting enough of their natural diet.
LadyPearl
Yes, I was just thinking the same thing! Those poor birds!
ronuod
I live an hour away from this and only know it from posts like this one... still dont feel like going into this artificial contraption.
cjackc
I'm sure you don't have a heater or a house then either.
Fachera
Those flamingoes are paler than the humans :/
jester112358
Flamingos in the nature are pink because they eat a lot of schrimps. They can be totally fine with some other diets as well.
Fachera
I know, is just that they are not at their most faboulus looking like that ;)
qatersaghira
Ah perfect for me.... a day at the beach without having to deal with the burning effects of the evil day star.
keimariiced
I dunno, even from the outside it looks pretty baller.
krauraurgg
Yeah, I don't really see how someone can look at a giant zeppelin hangar and go "meh, nothing special".

Germans love seaside resorts and beach holidays they literally do anything to try and emulate the experience close to home.

Two Germans from Club Punta Mare already down voted me :D
DirtyJ0eDirt
Thats why they really wanted to hold onto those Normandy beaches
jimmybaloo
I'm glad someone made the joke. I'm pretty sure they went to the Netherlands just to get the beaches.
spooglecraft
Well, I live in northern Germany and I can tell you I haven't been to the beach in ages. But I'm more of a marine type still.
krauraurgg
Nothern Germany is where the beaches are, though. It's less exciting when it's close.
UserWithoutUsername
I`ve ever seen bigger traffic jams as sunny weekends in Hamburg direction seaside.
NinNin1031
Is this a thing? When I visited my sister in Florida we ran into a lot of German tourists
Unquote
It is. no.1 destination for Germans in Holland is the beach. All they do is dig holes though, not much swimming.
xtraa
Hahaha, what a nice picture in my mind :D Ok. They are harmless, diggin holes at the beach. Feed them twice a day :) But yes I like it, too.
jimmybaloo
Oh yea German cruise ships are everywhere and German is a good language to learn if you want to work in the european tourism industry.
caraz12
i have german family members and when they come to visit me in florida, they camp out at the beach - rain, hurricane or shine
ghsdkgb
They should've painted the dome blue to imitate sky
Hayhol
yeah kt
Hayhol
yeah i was wondering why they didnt do that, they spent so much on the place why not add a little bit of sky paint ?
WhatzitTooya
This dome is about 300 feet tall and a 1000 feet long, have you any idea how much paint you would need?
ghsdkgb
...compared to the cost of building this whole thing in the first place?
WhatzitTooya
That was a leftover from a company who tried to build a huge airship but went bankrupt.
ghsdkgb
Did the airship company also build insulation and heated pools and landscaping for them?
WhatzitTooya
No, and maybe cause thats why no money was left for a pool full of blue paint.
HawkeyeRed
Is that an old zeppelin hangar?
DatPohl
yes
i2mo
yes! The hangar was built by CargoLifter http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CargoLifter
TheBrownstain
yes
l8lurker
But unfortunatly there are some thiefs. Some people's cars get stolen too. So don't go there by car. Further, 25*C is rather cold.
eroso
*Is that an old zeppelin hangar. The model they designed to be built there never got made, so they converted the place into this.
roonmian
Yes,though "old" is relative.15 years. They could do this because German work safety mandated to build the hangar with 100 miles floor heatin
tomyironmane
You can tell it is a comparatively new hangar; they used the newer clamshell doors rather than the big sliding ones to reduce turbulence.
TomorrowNoon
As a music junkie, the words zeppelin and hangar mean very different things to me

25ºC is a bit cool for a tropical weather... Source I live in a tropical country and right now we are at 34ºC
hugvomitory
I've been there twice and the temperature was never below 30 degrees celius. Also, it's awesome
[deleted]
[deleted]
pizzaboytellem
Yes, but if they're going for the sought after climate of a tropical location, 77 is a bit chilly.
Tehlu
25 is perfect.
NationalistCanadianMooseWarrior
Agreed. Any more and you can't do anything remotely active.
ifigetloggedoutofimguriwillprobablynotbeabletologinagain
I live on a tropical coastline, 25*c is just what you're used to, but sunny beaches are refreshing at 35*c because of the ocean.
Budday
as someone from a cooler climate 25C is perfect!
mt77932
78ºF (25.5ºC for those of you outside the US) right now in Chicago.
eggmuffin
25,5ºC (78ºF for those of you in the US) is the perfect mid-day temperature. Especially with those looong, warm evenings we get in Norway.
missmaryMACKMACKMACK
i consider it to be a perfect day. not too hot, not too cold.
WhatIfZeldaWasAGirl
25°C is high-summer where I live.
askaglassofwater
I'm with you. I'm still wearing a light jacket in 25°C.
TheBeautifulPsyche
AHHH CELSIUS SO CONFUSING
Neuroscopist
Nope. Water freeze point at 0 and boil point at 100 on sea level air pressure (on planet Earth). It is Farenheit which defies logic.
TheBeautifulPsyche
Fahrenheit is what I've learned and used the past 19 years, so I will take my logic defying numbers any day please and thank you! *snaps*

I don't think they were going for authentic, but rather, comfort. Fyi, most people up here would find 34C miserable. That's 93F. Why? ?
PoorSucker
33 degrees celsius here on Koh Samui, Thailand.
Inflightmisslerepairer
Right now, and forever 34 degrees centigrade
TheWeirdGuyBehindYou
I get your pain, bro. 32C today here. At least in Brazil we kinda have a non-scorching season...and 40+ summers.
CanadianEngineer
I think you would actually die going from negative whatever to 34 celcius..
eggmuffin
Of course it is. But why would a German willingly subject himself to that?
MOTHERFUCKINGODIN
I instinctively read that as ºF and was confused for a moment.

43 °C in Sevilla, Spain mid May this year, it has been cool lately with just 28-30 °C
xtraa
My roommates are from Sevilla and Granada,(Hamburg here). They told me you literally flee from the heat. It's basically same here in winter.
clnoy
Eh... I lived 17 years of my life in tropical weather and it was always 22~27 ºC.
cokebender
We hit 40degrees last week here in Manila. OVEN
Gregtheworm
Also, heating a wharehouse at 25°C during winter is certainly hard enough (and expensive)
deqzel
as a student of mechanical engineering... yeah, heating it taht much when it's below 0 outside it's quite a feat.
senefen
I live in Australia and am like '25C is pleasant, but it's not beach weather'.
wherearetheavos
As a South African - i was thinking the same thing :/ 25 and i'd still be wearing a light jumper. Definitely not hot enough to swim O_O
atomicpotato124
I live in Florida and on Saturday it was 92°F or about 33°C
manofthewild07
I checked the thermometer often saturday. Every 10 minutes between 11:30 am and 12 pm, the temperature rose 2 degrees! It was f'in hot...
Realitea
As someone who lives in the Philippines which is also a tropical country, I feel you man. 34-36 has been the temperature this whole summer.
randomrom
Hit 40°C over the weekend. So much pawis.
Realitea
Oh god another fucking Filipino? I've been running into so many Filipinos on Imgur lately. And yeah I had to shower thrice in one day.
randomrom
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
Studoku
Which would you prefer? 25 or 34?
ifigetloggedoutofimguriwillprobablynotbeabletologinagain
34*c because thats how I grew up. everyone is going to argue their home temperatures.
slimvictor
25 is more comfortable than 34, but I like 28 best.
ifigetloggedoutofimguriwillprobablynotbeabletologinagain
Australia here, I literally shivered when I read 25*c. I said "wow! FREEZING!" because seeing a "beach" like that being so cold is so weird.
wherearetheavos
AMEN!
velociraptorfarmer
I was gonna say... It's 77 in the tundra that is Minnesota right now...

He means Fahrenheit people, not Celsius. Don't worry, Minnesota is not in the Sahara right now.
velociraptorfarmer
Come back in July and you'll think it is...
xoferif
I live in Arkansas, dude, I go through hell every July and August.
TwentyOneSighs
Ha... like the Sahara has 100% humidity
ILikeToSmellCuteGirlsFarts
My first thought too, i live in Europe and even here 25º is like mid Spring or something :|
vauhtihirmu
For Finland it's the ideal summer temp... But we do get -15 to -30 degrees celsius during the winter, that explains it.
ILikeToSmellCuteGirlsFarts
Yeah but if your trying to simulate a tropical climate ... 25º isn't even enough to simulate a Southern European climate (where i live ) :P
ILikeToSmellCuteGirlsFarts
Yeah but if your trying to simulate a tropical climate ... 25º isn't even enough to simulate a Southern European climate (where i live ) :P
vauhtihirmu
Yeah, that's true enough :) We just dream of the tropics as a pleasant place, when in reality we'd sweat like a family of piglets ;)
ILikeToSmellCuteGirlsFarts
Considering the humidity levels there, most people will sweat like pigs nevertheless ;)
WhatzitTooya
Tropical enough for the average German, especially during winter.
AvengeTheCompanionCube
It's 25 in Canada right now and I am burning alive.
zhukoz
Oh my sweet summer child lol
brownbowl
I'm sorry. Also, you may want to avoid Southern states if you vacation in the US at any point. The weather report says it will hit a(1/)

high at 93 where I live in Florida tomorrow, aka 33.9C. And I know it gets higher in other areas. =P

As a Canadian, "in Canada" is not a valid perimeter to average out a temperature gauge.

JrElmoe
It can be 25 with cold winds but it can also be 25 with humid atmosphere.
dreshi
True. In Denmark 25 celcius is horrible sometimes because of no wind.
JrElmoe
You wouldn't like living in the mountains either. Winds at 25 degrees can sometimes feel like negative 10, and that's cold af during summer.
Klumpfisk
Yes, I've always said this but no one understands me!
WeakReference
I imagine that going from negative temperature to positive would be a shock and 25 is more than tropical enough
aaaatchin
i've done from 0 degrees in UK to 40degrees in Africa
vauhtihirmu
Not really a shock actually: Most houses maintain indoor temperature of about 22ºC. It's just nice to come inside from the cold.
WeakReference
Do you know what the difference between 22, 25 and 34 degrees Celsius is?
TheThingNoNotThatOne
It's also in Germany - their bodies aren't used to 30+ degree weather, and they might think it's too hot to be enjoyable.
hayo1995
As an American neither am I
bigbrother
Then there's the Finnish who walk into a steaming box and feel refreshed.
ObviousCaptain
Yeah but their goal is to be extremely hot, the goal in that place is to relax at a nice temperature.
AmArschdieRaeuber
In some summers in Germany it is 30+ degrees
vauhtihirmu
Yeah, but for us Europeans who get winter, 25ºC is the perfect summer temperature.
zhukoz
Wish it never got over 25* here in summer lol (australia)
UncleB0b
I don't mind the hotter days, but the 45° days with 95% humidity is just mother nature fucking with us.
zhukoz
And when you open your door at 7am and its like a blast furnace lol
UncleB0b
No kidding. MRW I leave an air conditioned 711 on an Aussie summers day:
