Because I do!

I painted this last month after camping out in the eastern sierras.

La Luna

That blob above the moon is supposed to be Earth. It looks a lot better up close.

A more realistic painting of the milky way.

The ring nebula

Star forming region s106

I know it's not stars, but it's a recent painting I did for my mom.

Where can I buy these? Seriously, these are dope AF.

I request a detailed guide for painting the milkyway

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The first one is a Windows 10 desktop wallpaper

I actually just saw that picture this past weekend! But I actually used another milky way picture and made up my own tent design.

Pretty poppy painting post.

Pro tip - take pictures against a black backdrop with the lights behind you at 4 and 8 oclock. This reduces glare and increases contrast.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Backdrop would preferably be matte - something that doesn't shine. Just advice! Good job @OP

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucken right I like stars. I also like some fine workmanship. Super work, OP

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seriously, how much do you want for the 3rd one?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry, it's not for sale. :(

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, it's beautiful :) keep up the good work!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Will do!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wish I saved a copy of the anus aurora borealis earlier..

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How much for the ring nebula with the pug in the center?

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

@op you should use glow in the dark paint for some of the brighter stars. I would totally buy one of those.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What did you use to do these? Was it paint?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I used acrylic paints!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is better than what I can draw. Keep up the fine work!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn it OP I just spend $200 on imgur art why you do this to me

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well if it was awesome art and worth it, then there shouldn't be a problem!!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

NO! HATE EM!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For the first galaxy one, what techniques did you use? Stippling with vehicle? These are incredible!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I do have an instagram with several time-lapse videos if you would like to check that out : ameliagrace_art

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Excuse me if I describe it incorrectly. I use a rough bristle brush to blend colors first. I prefer circular motions to get a good blend 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To define the Cloud, I use a similar brush but more of a dabbing motion to give it a scattered look. And I make stars with splattering paint

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I would buy the shit out of these

Here here! Amazing job, OP. I too would love to purchase #3 or something similar.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Same!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So the only two that are for sale on this post are Ring Nebula and Star Forming Region S106. All of the other paintings are already owned.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

How much would you charge to paint the realistic Milky Way again? I really enjoy that one.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Would love to have That painting

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The light from the tent in the first one would illuminate some of the surrounding area. Adding a bit of that will make it feel less awkward

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I completely agree! And I'm definitely going to add those details next time I attempt painting a glowing tent.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love what you did with the sky though. Acrylics?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup! And thanks. :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The scale is off on the tent too. If you were to paint over it and redo it, making the tent smaller will be more proportionate to the trees

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah it definitely looks a bit awkward.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Serious question, did you actually try to get the position of each star accurate, or did you wing it?

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I do it kinda half-ass. I will put in a few that really stand out, but for the most part they are random.

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

OP do you sell any of your star paintings?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I do! I actually have several of them up in a local gallery right now. But unfortunately I don't have an online account set up for sales.1/2

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You etsy this glorious shit right now!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been getting by with just selling to people I know. If you're interested, go ahead and send me a message and we can figure it out!

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Cool, thanks for letting us know

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How much does a painting go for if you don't mind me asking?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I know #1 was originally a picture, but it would like much better without the tent

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sorry for the negative post, you have immense talent OP! Do you sell your work?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The tent is actually my favorite part about it.. To each his own I suppose.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

it's the windows 10 background I always use when setting up a new client's pc lol

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Haha I kind of agree with you. The tent was an experiment! And someone else did like it a lot because I just sold it on Monday.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely gorgeous!! You are insanely talented

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Feel like making another? I really like the tent!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The tent made it so much better imo. It was my favorite one.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

#1 http://imgur.com/7hfsXO4

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

I wish I would have used the tent in that picture instead of making up my own. Nice picture!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Its still a great painting. Wouls you mind if I made a remark about it?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sure, I don't mind!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It lacks the glow from the light inside the tent to the close surroundings

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I agree. Next time I attempt to add a tent, I'm definitely going to work on the little details like that. Thanks for the critique!
