Fun fact: it was possible to change that screen by editing c:\windows\logos.sys in mspaint. I edited it to say "it's not safe to turn off your computer" and scared my dad.

I'm older. When the OS number ended with 3.11 I was happy cause that meant it had network support! And before that if I had all 3 floppies of DOS 5.12 that meant I could play Nibbles in Qbasic!!!
StarLeagueRecruit
No, it's not! It's morning, and I take my meds in the evening. It's easier to remember to if I take them all at the same time, and some of them make me drowsy. #lifehack
Akurei00
Lies. I already took my meds. What were we talking about again?

My first Cray had 10 terabytes.
Had to get rid of it. Not enough storage.
inkican
Your first Cray? What, did you buy it at Frys Electronics?
DavidBrooker
Does the "its time to take your meds" meme really apply to people in their early 30s?
DreamPhreak
Nope, my first computer was slightly older than this which used 8" floppys, no cd tray or 3.5" floppy, and I don't take any meds.
Euchre
This was probably posted by some sub-20 yr old that can't math out the fact that Windows 95 was only 30 years ago, and that plenty of people under 50 who don't require regular meds for anything remember this. They also don't realize that lots of people under 50 need daily meds for lots of stuff - like ADHD, anxiety, depression, and lots of others.
pipatron
The real question is: When is it ever safe to turn on a computer?
CrabbyBlueberry
It's to make sure the computer isn't in the middle of writing to disk. Interrupting a disk write could cause corruption

When it's inside a properly constructed Faraday cage and the ethernet card is unplugged. And even then I wouldn't bet my life on it.

I modified that file on every computer in the lab when I was in high school.
C:\WINDOWS\logos.sys or C:\logos.sys depending on the windows version.

Probably the watermark of someone who stole this image, posted it to their social media with the watermark, then next person snagged it from there and covered their watermark when they reposted it with the comment. But then, some OTHER person cropped out their username and kept only their comment. And then @op stole it from whereever the cropper posted it and posted it here.

Where's the cassette tape drive?
qshamtech
I had one on my Commadore 64.

My first computer had no hdd, but there were 2 (in words TWO!!!) floppy disk drives. A luxury! I could let the dos disk sit in drive A and put the game i wanted to play into drive B. I could copy one disk to the other without constantly switching them around!
captainregular
Were they in the same case? Because I had two floppy drives on my Tandy 1000EX, but one was an external add-on. But I also had a joystick, a dot matrix printer, and a COLOR monitor. And, yes, I don't want to think about how much worse computing would have been without that second drive.
RevengeIsIceCream
I bought an extra external disk drive for mine tour similar reasons.
FaeVikingPrincess
Our computer when I was a kid had two 3.5" floppy disk drives, a 5.25" drive, and a HUUUUGE 10mb HDD.
diemajorthrilldie
My first computer had 16k of RAM and once I played the five or so games we had on cassettte to death I had to get books with BASIC games out from the library to transcribe. It had to be plugged into the TV and my mam was certain the computer would damage it.
The second one had 64K of RAM and a green-screen monitor. It was popular enough that some games made it to my home town.
The third one had a full 1MB of RAM and two floppy drives and this blew my mind for YEARS.
diemajorthrilldie
Spectrum 16K, Amstrad CPC 464 and Amiga 500 with 512K memory expansion and external floppy drive. The original Monkey Island came on an unprecedented 12 floppy disks. Sometimes I look at my basic android phone and I feel like a caveman who touched a shiny door and ended up thousands of years in the future.
IDontKnowWhatToDoAnymoreAndImTired
SUCH luxury. I started out with a Commodore 64. It was crazy once I got to an actual PC and had both the 3.5 and 5.25 inch drives. And a whole 40 MB of hard drive.
Yesterday I saw 2 TB SSDs in the clearance area at the local Walmart.
Roqinn
I remember upgrading my pc to two disc drives. Even back then I built my own.
Goldmarble
The good "chunk" action of the lever to lock in the old 5.25" disks...I miss it.
dudbdjf
On my 720K 3.5in drive, I bent a little flange so the eject spring had more tension and it would catapult disks out. Got a couple feet of distance. Good times.
McJoligh
Floppy Disks? I started with my brothers Datasette on his C64.
EricPisch
I had a vic20 when they were launched
EricPisch
And a zx81 before that lol
DocZero
Yep. My first HD was 10 MB. Used. Cost me $50
Canigetbannedagain2
I remember my buddies Dad, (a big computer nerd) he bought the first 1gig HDD that was sold. We thought, that's so huge it'll never get filled. I don't remember the price or who made it.
NooPogodi
What year? I'm curious as to how much that would be now and what you could buy for the equivalent.
DocZero
Had to be something like 1990. I was taking CAD at the time and a classmate sold it to me as he had upgraded to a 20MB if I recall. $50 was basicly giving it to me. They we STUPID expensive at the time. Thing was a massive brick the size of two 5 1/4 floppy drives and heavy enough to kill someone with.
DocZero
My system at the time was a XT "turbo" (which was something like 10MHZ in 'turbo' mode. 4. something normally) with 512k ram, (i had an memory expansion card) a CGA video card (four, count them, FOUR colors) and a mouse that required an adapter to plug in.

Whelp, imgur is broken. It was supposed to be this, but embedded/KlPZKUd.mp4 never mind, you just have to copy the link, delete gallery/description and add mp4 to the URL in the post. Totally intuitive!
CaptainYesterday
Or fave it and when it ends in .null replace the .null with .mp4 instead

My ex-violist spouse watched this and just sighed.
Evenmoreuselessname
Lol tell her we want a video of her doing this with her viola!
