Can someone please explain to me why space-wizards care so much for hights?!?

People looking at this like it's down complex callback are the reason the star wars scripts can continue to be pure garbage.

Obi Wan taught him Jack shit. Yoda rode him harder and farther.

I always thought this part was mixed pride and sarcasm.

Weren't Ben and Luke only together for about a day?

Welcome to the movie

The high ground comment had NOTHING to do with the duel. Obi-Wan had the only reachable ground that was safe from lava. High from the lava.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

Remember Obi-Wan is also the only Jedi in history to defeat someone who had the high ground.

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The high ground belongs to Obi-Wan Kenobi. He didn't see the low ground until he was already a man. By then it was nothing to him.

Mythbusters still debunked that high ground does not matter.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 15

I think jumping was the dumb move

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I saw that and, not that I disagree, but I feel like the testing was a little loose, even for mythbusters

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Mythbusters weren't sword fighters.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

High ground absolutely matters in a sword fight. But it's only an advantage. It can't win the fight for you every time.

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

The low ground was too close to a lava. The higher ground could not be safely reached with Obi-Wan waiting to attack mid jump.

I'm gonna have to be that guy and point out that NONE OF THIS 'CLEVER STUFF' WAS INTENTIONAL!

6 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 3

What? You mean the part in Empire where Vader stops Fett from blowing up C-3PO wasn't because he recognized the droid he had built?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You mean where they reference a movie that hadn't even been written?

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Rewatching them all right now. God damn there are just so fucking many plot holes... I love them but come on Lucas...

6 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Agreed, but I still think that the battle of the first Death Star is an amazing piece of cinema. Something about it just works so well.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still think 4-6 hold up pretty well. 1-3? Woof...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm doing the same thing. Luke really is a bit of a naive and whiny bitch in the first half of A New Hope. Really, sit down and let Obi-Wan,

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Han, and Leia do the talking. It makes for good character development later though.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I could never accept how bad the Phantom Menace was until just a couple of days ago. God its bad.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah. It's bad.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same. I was like, you can just ignore Jar Jar. Not as an adult... He seemed so much more tolerable back then

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you look hard enough you can find plot holes in any and every story ever.

6 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I was trying not to look to just enjoy them, but as an adult glaring inconsistencies are harder to ignore than when I was a kid

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And I'm sorry but 1-3 are a straight up cheese fest save for a few redeeming qualities. Still love them, but that's the truth.

General Kenobi

They were only together for a short time, unless obi wan was like "hey real quick, get the high ground on vader, also sand....bring sand"

6 years ago | Likes 541 Dislikes 7

Too bad he forgot the sand

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Still trained by him, regardless of length.

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

True but like Goku doesnt go around with Kame house icon on his Gi anymore Luke was trained with Yoda the longest and most recent.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Vader couldn't have known though. Force ghosts get all sorts of bs powers.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Vader and Palpy think that Luke was trained by Obi Wan. They don't know about Yoda.

6 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

This is the correct answer. Nobody but Obi Wan and Bail Organa knew Yoda survived the purge.

6 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

And Chewbacca and Tarful.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Kinda Yoda confronted Palps after leaving Kashyyyk so they probs didn't know what happened to him. Unless there's new info from the new game

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Palpatine knew. When the clones failed to recover his body it was a giveaway that he survived, but Palp couldn't find him.

6 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Whether or not they knew that he trained Luke is a different story.

6 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

Like spent a couple years between empire and jedi communing and learning

6 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 2

This scene takes place before that. Luke did also talk with obi-wan while training with Yoda though before this scene.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

This scene is in ROTJ on the death star

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Between Empire & Jedi Luke was studying & training in Obi-wan's home on Tatooine.

6 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Nah, the first time he sees Obi Wan again is after the wampa cave on Hoth; he lifts the lightsaber out of desperation, not training.

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 7

... I said between empire and jedi. Not a new hope and empire

6 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Heard him during the attack on the 1st DeathStar. Sees him when training with Yoda. We know nothing about the time between Empire and Return

I know before I reach in desperation I take a minute, close my eyes, center my self, thoughts and feelings THEN reach for it desperately.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not sure you can claim that's the first and only 'next time' he sees obi wan considering the extended universe

6 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

Which as much as we hate it, isn't Canon anymore

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 3

There actually are parts of it which were 'kept', certain comics and material. Not much, but even at that one could argue the movies (1/?)

6 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Yes.

6 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 0

Aint the high ground anymore

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

You cannot beat someone who has the high ground. So you simply remove it from the fight.
