Hey Imgur, I’ve been looking for an anvil now for a while and simply cannot find a decent one at a decent price. Running out of ideas, I’m wondering if there are any smithies on here around Maryland (or surrounding states) that either know of an anvil sitting around or would be willing to sell one. Please let me know!

North Carolina tool sells em for about 400

Have you found one yet?

Nah, unfortunately not. But the search continues! In the meantime, I found a couple of places nearby to keep practicing while looking

You can start without a traditional anvil, if you can even get a chunk of discarded rail from a railroad or something for starting off.

Yea, I looked into that, but at least in maryland, I read that it’s technically not legal to just pick up track even if its abandoned. 1/2

Where does one just find railroad track knowing that they can take it? 2/2

Well I'm not sure about Maryland, but basically all I'm trying to convey is that you can improvise a temp anvil. Not sure about your budget
