I fucking hate when sites do this. Dangling 'premium' content in front of you and saying "Haha can't have it". Here's how to get round this horseshit. I did this in chrome btw, i assume you can do the same in all browsers.

Right click the page and select 'Inspect Element'.

In the list that pops up, mouse over each entry until the part of the site you want to remove is highlighted. In this case its the semi-transparent overlay covering everything. Right click & delete that mother fucker.

Repeat for all parts you want to remove.

Enjoy the site's content.

If you have some bullshit regional bullshit stopping you as well, like in the image, install 'Hola' and that sorts that. I use both of these to watch SouthPark in the UK from the official site.

EDIT: My first front page OC! Lots of people saying it's stealing. I suppose it is taking advantage of sites that operate like this, and been tech savvy enough to know how doesn't entitle you to do so.

If you feel it's stealing then just don't do it. In my example i just wanted to see the page on Robin Williams. I aint signing up for a 2 week trial, giving card details, going through all that bullshit to then spend 10 seconds on the page that is already right in-front of me, and to which i'll never return. http://imgur.com/aQZHy.

Thank you !!!

Anyone know how to make this work with Chegg?

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

To get past some paywalls from even some of the elite legacy media mogals was find your article. begin reading until the block. Copy Url address. Go to Google translate paste in the left side regardless of language. The translated right side link paste and go. Iv had great success with it. Here in Australia The Advertiserm Sunday mail, sydney herald and messenger

Will this work for BBC iPlayer? Trying to convert my South-African friend to Doctor Who.

Experimented with this on Pintrest. Confirmed. It worked!

yeah, until the southpark site went to shit.....

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I felt so let down by South Park Studios when they went from a few free episodes, to all free episodes, to this forced advertisement crap.

Has anyone figured out how to determine who anonymous viewers are on Linkedin without paying a fortune everyone month?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Smart websites just put BS generated text behind the ad. Never serve end user any data you do not want them to be able to see.

11 years ago | Likes 161 Dislikes 3

Just did this only to realize it was literally a jpeg of blurred content...was hoping the unblurred version would have a similar url....alas

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They put the real text behind the ad so that Google will index their content and get good search rankings.

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Yeah, you can't actually click on any of the links and get information on IMDb Pro or anything.

I use Hola Unblocker (Chrome App/Plug In), does it all automatically and it is easy to use, this requires effort and doesn't always work

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 3

Never use Hola unless you're truly desperate. You're putting your account security in the hands of complete strangers.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ain't nobody got time fo dat

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

This is cool, but I don't know how I feel about the whole stealing part. Sometimes you gotta man up and pay for stuff. Such is life

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 21

You obviously have never been broke and in need of an answer to something. These sites are the worst.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think it's more for sites you'll only use once or twice rather than regularly.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

News should be free.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's not really stealing, if you wanted to read it the hard way without using Chrome then just look at the page source :/

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hola is blocked in my country :(

Yes, because fuck those motherfuckers. Fuck them up their stupid asses.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Now I can say I learned something today

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

this works to a certain degree. you wont be able to click on anything behind the blurry part once you delete it. i tried :(

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

Yeah, you can remove the clicktrap element too.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

as someone who is fairly new to this, how?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you hover over the elements in the inspector, it highlights them. Look for one that covers whole page. Rest is trial and error.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh yes you can...you just have to also remove the covering element from the DOM.

Sarcasm FFS

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 11

Sorry, my sarcasm detector is not as reliable as it used to be. I've read too much weird shit that people meant seriously.

11 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

All good. Don't worry, I'm still paying my 99c :)

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

Am I the only one here who believes websites have a right to try to sell their content?

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did not make this. In proper Imgur form, I stole it from the last time this was posted. :)

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's the thought that counts.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is there an add-on/script you can teach us to have this blocked on every website automatically?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Every site implements things differently.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You can use adblock to block the element which is causing this so it will be blocked for good on that specific site.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I use AdBlocker. Right Click > Block Element. Ta-da!

11 years ago | Likes 810 Dislikes 10

Comment for reasons.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love me some Ad block - http://www.watch-tvseries.net makes commercial free entertainment

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also easier/quicker way to do the element inspector is to use the hover search div tool and just press the delete button on the keyboard

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

commenting for future reference. Thanks!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow. I never thought about this...

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a more permanent solution.

11 years ago | Likes 104 Dislikes 1

How to do get past websites that won't let you watch stuff because you HAVE adblock?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Adblock blocker blocker. It's out there somewhere.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

but then there's those sites who says "heyyoo you there disable adblock to see this for it to work."

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Does this not work with a website like glassdoor or am I doing it wrong?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd never been to glassdoor before but I went there to check it out. I don't see anything intrusive. What are you trying to block there?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If you browse for a bit, eventually every review except the top becomes blurred and blocked by a thing saying you have to make an account

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, it should work, right click the box that pops up and block that, then right click anywhere that's blurred, it's an overlay, block that.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Never realized I could do that...suck it local papers! And thanks!

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

No problem! Stick it to the man!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Use Noscript + Adblocker as a double whammy. Had to do this not too long ago. I don't mind ads and such to help sites, but this is BS.

11 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

What would you recommend as an alternative to noscript while using Chrome?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use FF, so I have no clue. It's hard to say.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Talk to me about no script

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Extention that automatically blocks all scripts except those you white list. I ran no antivirus for years with no script and had 0 malware.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, after I installed noscript, when I ran my monthly scans, I noticed a big drop in malware detected on my computer.
