This is a picture of a blood tube (no additives) from a lab draw tonight. The white substance is cholesterol that separated out over about 15 minutes. Talk about high triglycerides!

What was the value of cholesterol? And any other blood disorders?

Well, this just talked me out of a jalapeno cheddar dog I was about to make.

I didn't know John Goodman was a donor

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How is that person not dead?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is it possible to use a dialysis like process to remove chlorestorol? Because I think that'd be really cool

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think that patient is dead, or is the pillsbury doughboy.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

no its not.

That's just the stuff they put in the bottom to keep it from clotting. They don't put blood in vials by itself.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Interesting! What where the levels of the different blood lipids?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm expecting a very large heart attack followed by immediate death. Jesus christ.

As someone with high cholesterol managing with diet and exercise, any chance you can tell us what their levels ended up being?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is normal after eating a fatty meal.

"this is a tainted blood sample whose vacuum seal broke causing the suspension fluid in the bottom to loosen and separate"--accountless husb

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So. This happened by just leaving it alone? No spinning or nothing? That's insane.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

this dude is 12% bacon.

9 years ago | Likes 134 Dislikes 0

40% cheese

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for this image, it will stay with me forever and help me cut down the amount of fatty crap I eat.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Carbohydrates. Limit your shitty carbs.

So, when this person bleeds, sausage gravy comes out? Lucky.

Yo momma so fat, when she cuts her finger, she bleeds gravy!

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Excuse me sir, could you yack off a finger, I've got some hot biscuits to smother.

Unbelieable

This is the post next to this one. I wonder if there's correlation here

This is why you guys can't have free healthcare

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Cause I don't take care of myself?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

don't worry it's the good cholesterol

I've seen green plasma before during a collection

9 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Former plasma collection employee here. I've been told it's birth control that causes it.

Are you in Cairns? I just sent a sample to a lab in Cairns where the dude had homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh I have that in my family. My uncle is the first male to live past 40 and last count I believe he's had 14 stents despite meds and diet.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That white substance is not cholesterol. It is chylomicrons.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Thank you

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which are?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Chylomicrons are the largest lipoprotein in the body, comprised of about 85% triglycerides. Followed by VLDL, LDL, and HDL.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Cholesterol only represents about <5% of a chylomicrons total volume.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Colesterol and triglycerides are diferent things

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're wrong

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

No he's not. Triglycerides are quite different than cholesterol.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Diferent molecules, djfferent lab tests, diferent medications for control. I'm a doctor in the cardiovascular area

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"Please recollect." -the lab

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They were actually able to run everything but the Hct, MCH, and MCHC.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

MCH/MCHC are calculations and not tests that can be "run." They're calculated from the Hct, Hgb, and RBC count. The MCV requires the Hct. ??

When your blood is 40% blood, you might have a problem

9 years ago | Likes 533 Dislikes 2

It's like those drinks that are <5% fruit content

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

when its this high can we call it a lipo-draw?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

when lipo suction isn't enough. JUST DRAW IT FROM MY VEEINS

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats about normal. Less, the blood cannot carry sufficient O2. More, the blood becomes too viscous

9 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

Talk to your doctor about lipitor today

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's not that extreme, just enough to change the colour of the plasma. When you draw blood from fasted horses it often looks like this

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It is extreme. Sorry, you're wrong.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well I don't see human blood often, there are surprising differences

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It actually should be 40-45% red cells in most people

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 2

Yeah.. red blood /cells/. When it's 40% of what most people refer to as blood, then it's a problem.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Well the problem here is more that the remaining 60% is butter, not water and protein ????

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Well, that too. If you can spread your blood butter, you're gonna have a bad time.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm kinda impressed.

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

... me too... It sort of feels as though you should congratulate said blood giver on the ability to eat so much fat...

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Sadly more hereditary than lifestyle!

Have you tried cocaine?
