Two actors that I'm always happy to see in anything I watch.

Gary Oldman is the only actor I would be able to believe could fart himself awake convincingly.

They really are. Farrell is so good in The Penguin I can't honestly believe it's him while watching. Just blows me away.

In Bruges is a masterpiece and was the movie that convinced me Colin Farrell can act.

Same here. Both can make a movie interesting even when it has unremarkable writing. They really bring their characters to life. Gary Oldman, goes without saying, is incredible. Farrell's growth is pretty clear, and I always loved that he didn't shy away from strange, less mainstream movies and had a chance to learn from other great actors in return.

Quality of the actors aside, that was really damn adorable.

Yeah, when Colin first came on the scene, I just thought he was the latest pretty face. But he really has grown into a top-notch actor with an impressive range.
Just watch him in the Apple TV mystery drama Sugar, or the very dark Irish comedy Banshees of Inishiren. Those are two very different roles, but you would almost think he’s two different people, the performances are so spot on.

pain is an excellent teacher. once you taste pain you understand how to act it. you cannot act something you cannot imagine. and he had to deal with the worse kind of pain : the one in your loved ones.

If you liked Banshees of Inishiren, I assume you've also seen In Bruges?

Oh yeah. I laughed my ass off.
Brendan Gleason was always one of my favorite actors, and Ralph Fiennes was surprisingly good in that gangster role (I am more used to seeing him play upper class characters.)

Sugar is absolutely incredible.

Yes! The tone, the vibe, and the fact that they let you know early that something was “different“ about him, but then took their time revealing the big secret. And he was so good at playing a low-key bad ass. I especially love the scene where he basically tells that one guy “you do not wanna fight me” and then the guy just backs down.

The big reveal was the first time I've been caught off guard in the best kind of way. It's so beautifully done.

Same. At first I was like, "Wait ... what just happened? Is he ...?" Then I was like "Whoa, mind blown."

For me, Apple TV+ has supplanted HBO as the home of quality dramas that require you think and pay attention, and then reward you for it. They always have at least one show that I look forward to watching every week, like Slow Horses (speaking of Gary Oldman) which returns for a new season next month.
