The music post sitting on the front page is neat, but fraught with errors. Since that post focused on EDM (for the most part), so will this one. No genre-mashing, no fake genres (nightcore...), no sneaky Youtube channel promotion, just good, quality EDM.

EDIT: So apparently, I got this wrong too. I have a challenge for you. Post a link and the link's genre in the comments, and I'll compile every single one into another post later. I'm interested in seeing what you like.

These are the songs you've probably heard before, regardless of your music preferences.

Zedd - Clarity (ft. Foxes)

Arguably the most "beginner-friendly" sub-genre of the bunch, you often hear this on mainstream radio. Not gonna throw you for a loop when you hear it.

What most people think of when told about EDM, this sub-genre features lots of bass and a complex (sometimes even disjointed) melody. There is much "harder" dubstep than what I've chosen to list.

Trance is a repetitive (not in a bad way) sub-genre that borrows liberally from other genres, meaning one song can sound very different from another. Usually quite lengthy. (Not very familiar with this sub-genre, could be inaccurate)

Glitch hop sometimes gets confused with Dubstep, but as the name suggests, the melody is more hectic and disjointed. Usually has distinctive "glitchy" sounds, for lack of a better word.

With a VERY distinctive, distorted bassline, hardstyle is extremely easy to recognize (though hard on the ears for many). Entire genre has a strange fascination with the letter Z.

No Bassnectar, Tipper, Pretty Lights etc...?

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 3

You really shouldn't educate people about genres.

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

They are such massive genres too, with great histories... Anything less than a studied, comprehensive list is a disservice to them

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

THIS IS ALL FUCKING WRONG

10 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 8

HAHAHAHAHA what a steaming pile.

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Sorry, but that's not house music.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

"This music sounds like two transformers having sex"- brother Jake.

10 years ago | Likes 203 Dislikes 8

Not transformers : Robot-dinosaurs

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don't want to be that person, but that comment was literally everywhere on Youtube when dubstep was huge.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That means they're doing it right.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

What the hell is that even from?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ZEDS DEAD BABY

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Whenever I ask what genre is what, always get different answers. Screw it. I like the somg that goes untz untz untz. You know that one?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I am a machinist and EDM means something completely different to me. Was very confused for a moment.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

ITT: people complaining about what EDM is to them

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't care about the rest, but you "House" category is just plain wrong. That's the mainstreamy EDM-spin-off radio shit you listed there.

10 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 7

I thought the same thing!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kaskade.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

i agree, Porter Robinson is very far house.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was referring to whats called electro-house

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same for the drum and bass section

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should post some recommendations for what you think is real house. Every time I hear one person say "this is house" somebody else ->

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obe02lLwyps this is one of my favourite House tunes recently released.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

says "no it's not, that's just sellout trash." Maybe it's all just opinion and nobody will ever agree.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No Techno, Techhouse or Moombahton??

10 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 4

I was surprised dnb made the list before techno! But I'm also from detroit... wish we had a larger dnb scene here

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or electro but come on Techno needs to be there

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Tech/house is for intellects only.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed, Moombahton is actually easy to recognize, should be on list.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There just isn't enough Moombahton in this world

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And that's sad, I really adore this.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My happy hardcore and gabba no exist neither.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm so sad Big Beat is dead

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

What about 180 bps and future bass

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Back in my day all of this would be called Techno.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

oh aha my bad.. oops!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and other people to write songs for him. Also he has been accused multiple times of people submitting songs to his label and then

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

publishing them as his own tracks

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lots of his songs are basically like 'covers' of other songs just with tiny little tweaks. Also he's well known for having ghost writers 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You guys should check out Flight Facilities

10 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 6

i saw them at a festival recently , wasn't into it at all , lowest common denominator of music in my opinion

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

<3!!

Oh man, they're amazing. Love how they get so many different artists to collaborate with for the vocal sections too.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really? Just saw them in D.C. a couple months ago and it was the best show I've been ever been to.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm really sad to see that your list of dubstep artists doesn't include any of the originators. DMZ, Skream, Hatcha, N Type, Pinch and so on

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Quick, everyone in the comments compete for how underground their music tastes are! BE THE ULTIMATE MUSIC SNOB!

10 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 6

Come on man, it's literally a post about classifying music. This is their ONE legit chance to shine without judgement and you ruined it.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

I was anticipating those people being snobbish about music tastes, I guess I ended up being the one guy

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Bet you don't listen to acoustic frontier trip-hop or Norwegian folktronic americana

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

3edgy5me. Thing is, Mr. Overly Pretentious, most of these comments are talking about widely known and well established artists.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Yeah I realized that after going through more of the comments, might've misjudged this one

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's ultimately what happens when you take a "genre" and dilute and distribute under thousands of sub-genres. The Machine Is Real.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would you go to a lecture done by a student that knows just the basics or has shallow understaninding of a subject?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

It's more that people think being the most obscure with music, or saying "no your wrong that isn't music", makes them special.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I get your point, but It's not the case here. What I'm saying is that it's a really shallow list for someone that wants to lecture people.

You can't ignore the original post though. That's why there are so many pissed music enthusiasts/nerds.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He had good intentions, but was a bit bold with his original statements. It's basically like doing an FPS history and just post COD.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a human being who has participated in the EDM and rave scenes since the late 90's... Please never post something this atrocious again!!!

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Just call it dance music. That's what it was known as for decades until America got in on the party. Just curious what would you post?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry it is a force of habit as of late since everyone call's it EDM but yes the trance, hardstyle, and trap sections are not as bad 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

overall i'd add more unheard artists to push more sounds for people to hear for trance Ferry Corsten, ATB, Myon and Shayne 54, 2/3

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Simon Patterson, Markus shulz for Dubstep: Monstar, 12 planet, Modestep Electro house: Sidney samson, Fredde le grand, Quintino, Chuckie 3/4

Patrick la funk, sleepy tom, Evol waves, Eva shaw, Deorro and his older work as Ton!c, Ummet Ozcan, Thomas Gold 4/5

Fix it, plz ._.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

such a shallow spread of tunes. why even post this redundant nonsense.

10 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 5

The list is to get people started, a lot of these artists are what I started with too. They're gateway artists.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

Gateway artists to what?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To what we'd consider deeper and more complex music.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...such as?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well it would differ depending on the person, I'm just saying in response to people who keep commenting "why isn't etcetcetc on this list?"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mos people into those genres dont affiliate EDM with anything but the top 40 dance tracks

10 years ago | Likes 233 Dislikes 8

Exactly

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think America thinks it invented EDM, even though Europe has had massively successful dance music since the 90s.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i might be showing my age and/or ignorance here but I thought the broad term for that type of music was Techno?

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

It is shown but that's okay. Techno is very different if you are into these different genres.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It used to be. It's not cool anymore.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's term is at face level "Electronic Dance Music" anything made digitally that you can dance to. Techno has been pushed aside for the most

No body likes mainstream edm. It eliminates the euphoria

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol, no.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Deadmau5 does not spin techno

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

he doesnt spin anything, he presses play ;)

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You mean house?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

not even true house, a sub genre of that.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guys he means techno broadly. Not the specific genre.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Deadmau5 and techno? Dude...

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

i generalized it cuz im lazy. my point was he helped coin the term edm, brings it mainstream and proceeds to shit all over it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey now, techno was quite appropriate for the 90s. Like Japanamation. Both words do make me cringe now, though.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not about techno being a cringey word it's about deadmau5 having never made a techno track in his life (at least not that I've heard)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Very few poeple outside of America say EDM, especially not in Europe.

10 years ago | Likes 82 Dislikes 14

I'm in Finland and EDM is used pretty much. Mostly it's the music media all over the world that is using it to describe certain type 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

of popular electronic music instead of an umbrella term for all electronic music. Just like the term "electronica" in the 90's. 2/2

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

As someone who's been into it since the 90's I still say electronica, I rarely ever use EDM.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm American and must be "old" like @kickliquid, but I refer to all of those genres as Techno.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Canada: Ever hear of monstercat?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

go monstercat

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm in the Netherlands, of course we say EDM. We have festivals named after it!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most festival goers don't call it EDM. My friends get all annoyed if I say EDM.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whenever we had festivals in the area, especially the ones that weren't international or anything, they'd call themselves EDM (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To avoid people yelling out at every other song "But this is not *subgenre X*, this is *subgenre Y*" (2/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Sweden people say EDM quite a lot.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sweden gave us Swedish House Mafia - I won't accept any swedish input about electronic music.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was gonna externa that I hear the term house being used frivolously, but didn't want to being up SHM... Same goes for Avicii.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

See, Avicii to me is just pop music. But, Maybe I shouldn't have generalised about EU not saying EDM. I know a fair few french who don't.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

*extend (autocorrect)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

UK and I say EDM

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 8

Yeah but how old are you? No one calls it that unironically

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really? I'm UK.. I don't know a single person who unironically says EDM. How old are you and whereabouts in the UK?

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

15/Hove

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Either way, this has taught me not to speak in generalisations.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

May be an age thing frankly. I'm not being a dick, but younger generations tend to pick up on americanisations and they become normative.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I'm sure they do. what else would you call it

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

As a genre it's existed long before the term EDM ever came about....

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

there were also WAY less sub genres

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sub genres wax and wane with popularity. It's redundant. Anyway it was called Electronica before EDM, or dance music. The US coined EDM.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Electronic music. Or, dance music. But not usually EDM, and NEVER electronica. Electronica is the word that makes me cringe most.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's still what I call it, electronic music (if I'm describing it to people).

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I guess your saying the "dance" part makes it sound like they trying to make it pop? I can see your point there

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anyone remember Ishkur's Guide to Electronic Music?

10 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

yeah buddy.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what got me into a lot of other genres.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Kinda outdated on a few bits by now, but it is still a pretty fun place.

Source?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure if it is still around. I used it in the early 2000's. I googled and got this. http://techno.org/electronic-music-guide/music.swf

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Prog and you list only Deadmau5?! No Sasha, Digweed, Hernan, Guy J, Nick warren, Eelke Kleijn, Prydz/Pryda, Jody Wisternoff, Lawler etc…

10 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 8

All of the yes.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is Deadmau5 considered prog? Not trying to be a dick here, just asking. Always sounded kind of simple to me. Any prog' song suggestion?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Most of his album "while 1<2" is close. I really like it. His newer stuff is way more complex than stuff 5/6 years old.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This dude knows his sh*t. Prolly also knows my city is the birthplace of techno. Do ya know what city that is?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Put your hands up... :P

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

deadmau5 is just the biggest name, and an easy artist to get into. Plus, Joel will point the way to some really good prog/prog house artists

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't expect anybody to be familiar with the scene for every electronic genre. For the most part, this is a good and accurate list.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

16 Bit Lolitas, Jaytech, Adam K, Matt Lange, Cassino & Laben, Ewan Rill, Soulfinder, Jono Fernandez...

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I love prog-house. I've listened to it for years. I don't think his stuff ever appears in any of the many mixes/sets I listen to.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sorry, I wasn't terribly familiar with progressive. I'll look into adding them though :)

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Commenting here so I can get your attention. You should also look into GOA/psytrance! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goa_trance

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All good, we are always learning new things.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ooooooooh Prydz!

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Global Underground has put most of their back catalogue on YouTube for free. Sasha, Digweed, Warren, and a few others from other genres.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

OMG are you serious?! That's amazing! I must check that out. Thank you!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no Blackmill ? ;_;

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Nice.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OP said he omitted a chillstep section because the post was getting too long :( look at Flying Lotus, used to do music for adult swim

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thank you kind sir/madam :) gunna YouTube them thanks for sharing chillstep is my shiiitt

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's sort of chillstep/hiphop. Regardless, if you're a fan of blackmill, I think you'll enjoy flying lotus! Let me know what you think! :)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the recommendation!! been listening to it on the way home, that song w Kendrick Lamar holy shit!! u are amazing!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

THANK YOU! One of my favorites to listen to.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ummm bassnectar?

10 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 5

Yea, he just totally forgot the most original mind and a pioneer of EDM, probably the best producer out there. Love Bassnectar

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I went through this whole comments section promising myself I wasn't going to reply but oh my god you are so wrong.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

He's in his own realm.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Most of the artists you categorized as dubstep don't even make dubstep

10 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 5

skrillex, zomboy, and excision are a pretty good definition of dubstep.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 6

LOL

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Same with the house list.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, true. Didn't even check the links before because I sorta knew they would be something like that.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where's: Caspa, Doctor P, Liquid Stranger, Flux Pavilion, The Others, Skream, Joker, Trolley Snatcha...

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

A dubstep list without mentioning Rusko and caspa is not a good list

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Seriously, where are Digital Mystikz on that list? Skream? Mala? Coki? Loefah? Kode9?

10 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Straight up

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Distance

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

word, my good man.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

glad i'm not the one that has to write this, upvote!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This comment is more valuable than the entire post

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hardcore - even harder and more distorted than Hardstyle. Artists - Ophidian, Mad Dog, Angerfist, The Outside Agency, I:Gor, Ruffneck.

10 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I wouldn't call it either harder or more distorted, just faster. Hardstyle can get very hard, try Warface & N-Vitral - Fuck The Drum Machine

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I dunno. I have some pretty distorted sounding hardcore.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hardcore isn't always fast but is more distorted. That track is a raw/industrial track which is why its harder than normal hardstyle.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Good track nonetheless! Its really only industrial/crossbreed I listen to. Digging N Vitral's stuff just now.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nothing beats Thunderdome 2012. TOA vs Dj Producer and Promo at his classics sets were among the best sets I've ever witnessed.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Promo and D-Passion at Thunderdome Final Exam was incredible too. Good to see hardcore fans on Imgur!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It may have been Toxic Hotel actually?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Promo played two sets at Thunderdome 2012. And to be honest, I don't really listen to hardcore anymore, I got a bit bored of it, dnb nowaday

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah I find I'm listening to more dnb and crossbreed these days. Still love industrial though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gabber - Hardcore, but a lot more hardcore.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Please comment this on all the EDM posts!

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was thinking of putting up a post later about hardcore actually after seeing these EDM posts. A few people might be interested.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I know I would.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The deed has been done. Its rotting away in user sub as we speak.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Link it then

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Laid back Luke? House music?

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

I know. Unbelievable.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Nope, this is as bad as the last post. Sorry.

10 years ago | Likes 75 Dislikes 14

Thank you.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Agreed. Other than seven lions being on here briefly, it looks like its coming from someone who just started listening to edm.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Eleven tigers are better than seven lions! ;D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCwTPzsM71E

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know right -.- And where the hell is the "HARD" in hardstyle? /goes back to listening to Black Sun Empire

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you like hard stuff and dnb, check out DJ Hidden. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnHSVZvX2Ms

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

TY - yupyup me likes my darkstep :D

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

fuck you man, as someone who doesn't know shit about this kinda music I appreciate this post.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

You want to learn more about electronic music?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd love to, enlighten me

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Trying to compile a post on the basics for later. But what kind of music do you like? Slow, fast, hard, soft, heavy?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A variety would be great. If you compile it into a post there seems to be a better chance it'll make it to FP

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A variety would be great. If you compile it into a post there seems to be a better chance it'll make it to FP

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No post is ever gonna be good enough because everyone is so stuck up about their own preferences. At least he tried

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

I started working on the BEST post ever! It'll probably die in user sub. It's mostly music history and important names and tracks, though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Exactly. I agree taht most of them are not good at all but OP put a lot of effort in the post. Good on you @OP

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Agreed. I enjoy electronic music, and OP gave me some new artists to listen to. Good guy/gal in my book.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Why isn't Noisia on the DnB list? They're kind of massive.

10 years ago | Likes 224 Dislikes 9

Or Netsky, or cmon, Bassnectar

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Or Goldie, London Elektricity, DJ Hype, Netsky, Cyantific, High Contrast, Original Sin, Rampage

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Why did the monkey get lost? Because Jungle is Massive.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Asking the real questions! Noisia FTW!

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Dead Limit tho!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Heard this the other day, ridonkulous

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dead Limit was my favorite off the EP for a while but now I'm so hooked on Omnivore

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This list was not very comprehensive. The variety of sub genres not mentioned is massive. Theres so many different interpretations of genre.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OP probably doesn't regard Noisia as good music.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Saved this comment thread so I can check all these rec's out - thankz guyz!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because Nosia is not drum and bass.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

yeah, this list is whack, whack as shit

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also no Calyx & Teebee?!

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 1

Listen to the calyx & teebee remix for tchami- promises if you haven't heard it already :)

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

True! Or phace, emperor, BSE, mefjus, hybris...

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Ed Rush & Optical

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same reason Savant isn't on here

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I used to be the biggest Savant fanatic, but his stuff just isn't the same as of recently, imo.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I miss DnB. When is WMC?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

get it? MASSIVE? anyone??

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

native instruments meme

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, and Black Sun Empire? Fuck man why?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

mmmmmmm BSE

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah dnb part without them, or Phace, or Teebee or many more already mentioned is just bollocks.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Netsky?

10 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 3

I fucking LOVE Netsky. Cool live show too with a dude actually drumming.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just generally, Hospital Records should really be on that list

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Go back to the Hospital.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

THANK YOU.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As well as Square Pusher, Diesel Boy, AK 1200, Andy C...

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Saw squarepusher and movement festival in Detroit this year. Good lord what a set.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Or Figure? He is huge in the DnB genre.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@OP didn't even include the guys who pretty much created dubstep into the dubstep list..like Benga, skream, coki

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Also the skrillex song in dubstep is not dubstep it's downtempo or glitch hop, i guess it's full of similar errors, this is just shitposting

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Spor is also amazing

10 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

omg yes! Although it doesn't help that he disappeared for 4 years

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Disappeared isn't really the right word. He was being Feed Me. Who is also amazing

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I meant that Spor as an artist disappeared. Jon Gooch (Spor & Feed Me) was obviously still active :P My bad, poor wording i suppose.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well hes back now with caligo

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well spor is also feed me! Just released a few eps recently!

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

ye

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Feed me just played where I live. The day after my birthday. Alas I had work.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I believe noisia stopped making music and is now part of i am legion but yes i agree :) impossible to make a post like this tho w/o missing.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not true at all. They released a new EP a couple of weeks ago. It's called Dead Limit

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dead Limit is sick, some of their best work IMO

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

fucking omnivore man, it gets me!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah my bad I'll go check it out :) off topic new ish galantis album is pretty damn good

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

truuuuuuuuu

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was also gonna mention Geoplex but he's got a very small audience...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because whoever posted this knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about Drum'n'Bass.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I can't tell if youre actually saying they dont know anything about dnb or if youre being sarcastic

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm saying they know nothing about DnB. I know this because I know a lot.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the clarification! I personally am more into the neurofunk side of it more than anything else.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

THANKS NOW I HAVE SOMEONE TO AGREE WITH

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They don't seem tp know whole lot about EDM, period.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Noisia and neurofunk :)

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeeeee

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

neurofunk stated on imgur? no way

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Noisia, Subfocus, Hybrid Minds, Enei, Emperor...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Emperor is bae

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2015 is jump-up/neurofunk year, as 2014, 2013...1996

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They were. Nowdays imo, they didn't make any good track.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Indeed.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And no A.M.C

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No Opiuo under glitch hop :(

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

this post is so shitty i was surprised to find koan sound and haywyre in it

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ahaha thats fucking true. But koan sound and haywyre couldn't be any more different, seriously

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

or Roni Size or LTJ Bukem... :)

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yessss

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Big up for namedropping Bukem

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or SPY? or load star... Or lenzman.. LSB.. Calibre. Feck

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We have some oldschooler here. +1 for da massive

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No no no this is a chart about mainstream EDM not about dance music. Plus topkek on what you call "house". Go look for Knuckles, Atkins etc.

10 years ago | Likes 137 Dislikes 15

THANK YOU BUDDY ! I didn't want to make a scene about the House Post, shitty EDM or wtv music for House music, what a sick joke

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

r u from /mu/ ?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Thank you. I read this persons list and wanted to slap a baby.

10 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

Man. Music lovers are assholes.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

seriously though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I read this list and was thoroughly disappointed. This looks like something you'd find on one of the sites buzzfeed copies off of.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'm sorry but whoever made this really needs to do some more digging for proper house music

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So Frankie Knuckles, Robert Owens, Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, Cajmere, aren't House music? I've been listening to the wrong genre I guess.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yisss Knuckles RIP

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you! The entire list is pretty much edm indeed ...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Using a 4chan term on Imgur. That's a bold move, Cotton.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

cannot upvote this enough

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

this

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah! Fuckin Frankie knuckles!!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Everyone thinks everyone is an idiot and no one knows anything about these genres except themselves. It's hopeless

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Tbh, I gave up on house after the 90's. It's never really been the same. That said, those links up for the genre there aren't all bad. (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would I share these with people just getting into house? No, because chances are they've already heard this stuff 5 brazillion times already

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

House. Released in 2012. As funky as you get it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=5&v=vLJwH42TpoE

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's lot of good house getting produced nowadays that just gets lost on the ocean of shit. https://instagram.com/p/8EYJB4mR18/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's how I felt about dubstep. I thought it was an ocean of shit. I felt old for hating new music, but my friend turned me to quality trax

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lol it seems that I copypasted a wrong link somehow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nk0FNZ9cHYw

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, that "House" category is full of shit I, as a massive House-head, would never listen to.

10 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 3

Also I wanted to point out not a lot of people realize House started in Chicago and Techno started in Detroit.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd like to be friends with everybody on this post

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Atkins is techno ffs!

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

As a techno enthusiast...no

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

juan atkins basically invented it with derrick may and kevin saunderson\

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes but I was bitching with the definition of Techno.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

why ? whats your definition?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I opened for Derrick May here in DC back in ~'99 (?) He was a bit of a dick. I was all excited to meet him, too :/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My brothers friend is a promoter and said the same thing , good dj but apparently a complete sleaze bag

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you're a bit anal, Detroit Techno.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was looking for a detroit techno comment :)

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Right ! And I find Detroit Techno closer to Chicago House than recent european Techno. But that's just, like, my opinion man

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I like how you think! But then came X-101 and fucked everything up. But yeah, Detroit is more soulful than the standard European Techno.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0
