Since two months I have been working on this web app and at this point I feel like I need a feedback to keep improving it. It is a tool that allow you to create & manage resumes online and offers the possibility to download your work as PDF. It's free and you don't need to sign in if you just want to try! I hope this solution will one day help students like me that struggle when creating or editing their resume.

A bit more about the project: http://thioutp.com/public/view/94

EDIT: WOW A real thank you for everyone of you. I'm reading all your comments and feedbacks. I will make an other release soon to fix reported bugs. If you want you can email me at pa.thiout@gmail.com to report bugs, errors, etc...
Thank you very much, you are awesome! :)

EDIT MAY 25 2015 : I really appreciate your help I couldn't imagine having so much feedbacks, this community is truely amazing! Since some of you wants to use PMR for their resumes and may want to see how it's evolving I made a page where I'll be posting the latest features. I will surely develop a kind of voting system to spot the most wanted features. Thank you again :)

Templates examples

So far there are not many different templates but you can mix them, change the color, disable/enable sections etc...
I'm still looking for new ideas, sooo if you feel like sharing a design that you appreciate you are welcome of course :)

The interface

I tried to make something clear and simple but I know there are details that makes it not perfect. If you plan on using it later and something bothers you, notify me and I'll fix it!

In case I bored you, here is a potatoe's cv

Fix it

Hmmmm.... So i see you have my resume already

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

You da real MVP, OP. Put your resume-maker on your resume!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I think a simple clean list works pretty well for a resume

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yo dawg, we heard you like references...

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Any updates on when the sites goes online? :)

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'm a graphic designer, can I help with the templates?

11 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 3

OMG yes!! :D

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

This will never be seen but my feedback: Let the popup-box be movable so you can see the preview of the themes.

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Seen! Yes this is part of the next tasks. Thank you very much :)

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Great tool. However, as I was working on it, website crashed and cannot be opened again. Any idea on why this happened?

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

So glad I found a recent comment...Sites down for me as well :(

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a web designer I really like your website ... keep on with this!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I had to lead a few interviews recently, and ALL the candidates had the same resume template.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right! That's terrible. Then they don't each stand out. Fortunately he has a Target audience.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should consider supporting or even forcing HTTPS connections since your site is handling peoples personal information.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

You are right, wasn't expecting that much traffic so of course it will be done over the next few days! Thank for feedback!

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I don't know if it's possible at all. But it would be cool if it was possible to upload a existing CV instead of making a new.

11 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

Structure was pretty simple to copy paste mine into. Made it look pretty. But, I see where this could be awesome.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That would require that you knew the data structure of what you upload. That's impossible for him. Idea is great. But don't work practically

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Its 100% possible...its already possible via LinkedIn

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

From my experience in hiring, I like clean clear cut CV's, with basic font like calibi (hate handwritting fonts and hate times new roman)

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

with my typographer hat on: agreed, times new roman should only be used with narrow columns (e.g. newspapers) – but calibri is a screen font

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that is, it shouldn't be used unless the content is going to be viewed on a screen. if it's to be printed, use a typeface meant for that.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks for this piece of information!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

see my comments on this thread, too :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Glad to see people not getting jobs over picking the wrong font. Those dumb fucks.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Comments! Comments because I'm drunk in Ihop and I need to get my fucking life together. But comments!

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

Genuinely cool- thanks Op!

11 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 0

And here I am, who learned the basics of Indesign just to get a nice looking CV. Good job, though, OP!

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This. Is. Awesome. Well done OP

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Are you looking for a job? I'm always looking to hire developers and allow them to work remotely (from home) if they have good work ethic.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Im always willing to have good work ethic if the pay is worth my while :P

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's the stack?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whatever you like. Lots of JavaScript but back end can be anything non-Windows.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work for a personnel placement firm placing engineers in jobs....I am constantly having to fix resumes like this. The simpler the better.

11 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 1

if you offered CVs as a web service, recruiters would pay for access. It takes up this guys time (Hi), If it's worth paying a human...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You do? Well, I am a mechanical engineer looking for placement! I'd love to chat sometime (at a minimum, tips would appreciated!)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you are serious you could message me and we could talk. I don't do the recruiting. I am the Admin Asst./General office drone/Web dev. 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 But I can get your resume to my boss and talk you up and stuffs!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I JUST sent in my resume. Better timing would have been preferable, OP! ...thanks anyway, though. ;)

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

is this dead dead? i used this to generate my resume and it landed me the job. Several promotions later i need to update it lol

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think it would be a good idea to have an option to display your list of skills without any of the little charts.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It is possible using the first template that is, to me, the most basic.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you need help, summer is getting ready to start and I'll have some free time

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I keep that in mind :) thank you!!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Btw I know PHP, mysql, html, css and perhaps too much javascript

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No photo! It's HUGELY problematic to include a photo on a resume because of discrimination issues.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I understand, that is why there is an option to hide it ;)

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If they're going to discriminate against you from a photo, what's the point in tricking them into an interview?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because some companies will throw them out so that they can't be accused of discrimination

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

some fields actually expect it. not many, but some.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a male escort this will come in handy for my new job

11 years ago | Likes 116 Dislikes 3

Hahaha

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Carpal tunnel man... It's a real thing

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Still down :/

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Instead of a resume, I find it's more effective to just send a Polaroid of me with a sweatpants boner.

11 years ago | Likes 507 Dislikes 4

"Yes we received your resume in hopes of a Navajo teepee but you only provide us with a pillow fort in size. Thank you for your dick pic"

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm all about sweatpants boners

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*swaetpnats

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We call that a BISP. Boner In SweatPants.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'll drink to that.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I use an old picture of Bruce Jenner in his athlete days

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

My friend got his files mixed up and sent a picture of him as a child meeting Mark Spitz instead of his resume, he still got the job though

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Especially effective when applying for a role in porn or traffic management.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Traffic m- . . . you know what? I don't want to know.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Everywhere you go, there you are

i love this site.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like it...but I think it needs a different name

11 years ago | Likes 122 Dislikes 3

The owner of the company I work for told us we need to "pimp out" our building. Specifically where the public sees most.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was going to suggest it to my HR team when we open positions internally to help associates with career growth but the name stopped me.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"ResAMAZING !"

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm seriously considering using this name. Would you mind ? :)

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

pimp my resume is not bad. I'm guessing, at the bottom it doesnt say "built with PimpMyResume"

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Haha no of course!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Not at all. :)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Now... are you planning on keeping it free?

11 years ago | Likes 1051 Dislikes 4

You always start with a little freebie to get them hooked yo

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

This is really, really awesome.

11 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Maybe this is just me being jaded, but probably will make money selling all that juicy personal data people enter.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Make it ad-supported, so you can have an ad for penis enlargements just below the photo of the applicant.

11 years ago | Likes 140 Dislikes 0

I want an penis enlargement!

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Everybody wants a penis enlargement. The singles in your area are avidly looking for it.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

i need a penis reduction

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

As a girl, NOOOOOOO!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Oh I see you *like* my brand of penis self-deprecating humour ;) well let me be the first to say:

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I want this app to be the opposite of "pay to use" services. If there is a need one day, the users won't have to spend a penny! ;)

11 years ago | Likes 676 Dislikes 1

Get payedto use?! Ohh boy!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

This is such a awesome service, I wouldnt even be mad if you put a couple of ads up here and there. And a donation button would be cool too

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm starting to think about another job, and was beginning to stress on how to make a resume since I've never had to. Thank you so much!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can you make it so we can upload an existing resume. Autofill it to this app

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

andddd it's gone

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is such a good idea, so many sights fuck you over after you make a resume with them, and they won't let you print your CV without pay..

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

YOU!!!! I like you!

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

a donate button /would/ be better than the inevitable sale of resume data to 3rd parties.

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

How are you gonna pay for the usage? Out of pocket?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You da real MPV OP

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You should add a section for publications. In academia it is very relevant to have a list of publications.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can create a certification section by going on the settings panel and "add a category" if you need :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it's not really a certification though. think bibliography. I'm a heavy LaTeX user and use it/BibLaTeX for my résumé, but bibs are common.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Someday, all products will be free and people will create for enjoyment. Someday.....

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The opposite of "pay to use" is "don't pay to not use". So basically you don't pay and you don't get access :/

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 9

Get payedto use?! Ohh boy!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You can always place an advertisement to the right and let people create user accounts to which if they donate any amount, ads are removed.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But if you wanted to make money, it could be an option that they pay you to print it on quality paper and mail it to them.

11 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I like this, send it in an envelope or folder. That way you don't have to go out and buy paper or print it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please include a Donate-Button. I'll put it to good use, should I ever use your service. Awesome idea, good stuff.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I will probably be using your website. My resume is very informative but very boring. Thank you!

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Is it Open Source too? If so, I can hook you up with free CDN services.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You should have a donation button, I don't have much but I'd love to give something back.

11 years ago | Likes 118 Dislikes 0

Definitely agree with this. Worth exploring as a payment method.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Agreed, you need a donate button, I would like to throw some money at this already.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Also, a donation button gives people the option to give $ at a later date once they've earned it as a thanks.

11 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Yea if you get a job, and one of the reasons was because you had a nice CV, course I would want to donate! Job Hunting right now, ugh.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

people usually end up making more money when they do the "you decide what to pay" thing

11 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

Where can I find statistics on this

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There was an article I read a while ago about a project some kids did in college of how to make the most money using $15 1/?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

somewhere.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As someone who is currently job hunting right now after graduating college. This could come in handy. Maybe add Cover Letters too?

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

No, not yet I'm sorry :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe just a cover letter template. That would be very nice.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cover letters really aren't something that SHOULD get automated. Do some research, it takes like 30 minutes to write one...

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

I think the idea is that you would write the content then input it into a cover letter template that coordinates with the resume template.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks really nice and has potential to be helpful. Do you have formatiing for a CV?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't understand what you mean ? Also thanks :D

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

CV=Curriculum Vitae. Used in academia and some other fields, these are much longer than resumes and include publications, lectures, etc.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

CV=Curriculum Vitae. Used in academia and some other fields, these are much longer than resumes and include publications, lectures, etc.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

note that a CV would also include a bibliography of publications. i've done a lot of research into this area; pm me if you want to talk.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A curriculum vitae is like a resume but used more for scientific fields and academia. I'm finding it complicated to write.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

note that a CV would also include a bibliography of publications. i've done a lot of research into this area; pm me if you want to talk.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Looks like it could use an import function.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I will look for solutions to import existing PDF, this may not be in the next version but I'll try to patch it soon :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That will be a lot harder than you think it is; try to bum off of LinkedIn's import function. It's not entirely worthless.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

OCR technologies are not impossible to implement, it may not be super efficient but could be a good start :)
