** Edit ** As a couple people have pointed out, this restaurant was featured in Netflix's show 'Street Food'. I have been here twice now, once soon after the show aired (pre-covid) and today. And I will say that it was totally different experience this time around. The first time it was all foreigners/tourists. We were there for over an hour and he did his signature tuna dish once as he only makes it when there are enough orders in. This time we were there for about an hour again and he probably made the tuna several times. He's probably doing better right now with fewer customers, buying more food, than hundreds of "tourists" buying the cheapest dish and waiting for him to cook tuna. So is it worth going to when Japan opens back up and you find yourself in Osaka? Yeah, but just be prepared for it to be packed with other tourists like you standing around waiting for a show they're not willing to pay for.

wait he doesn't work here

He's on Netflix! Street Food - Asia. Great series. And if you like it. Check out chefs table

Yeah, that's where I first saw him. This is the second time we've gone here. We live about 45 min away.

How is the food really?

It's really good. Not cheap though. Osaka has so much good food though.. hard to say if it's really worth going.

I really love little food stalls in Japan but whenever one appears on Netflix or any other show I feel like the food often gets overhyped ?

Ojisan is being a boss... How the hell doesn't that burn his hands?

He's constantly dipping his hand in water.

After a while you work up callouses. Did a fair chunk of metalworking. You also learn how long you can touch before issues start.

He dips his hand in ice water. Also, probably has zero nerve endings in that hand at this point.

Youbget used to it. Also touching fire isn't as hot as most people seem to think it is. I put it on and in my mouth a lot

TIL that old people are made out of asbestos

Nah with practice one can stand a lot more fire than most people think

Years of deadening the nerves, I have a much lighter version of this from years of tending bar, cleaning glasses in scalding hot water then

Yup. You still get burned but you learn not to care.
