And don't get me started about the increase in everyone's water bill in my city starting July 1. Everyone's seeing an additional $100-300 bill for water every two months now.
Can we also talk about grocery prices? Oh, my god. $100 barely buys any food, let alone HEALTHY. I don't even buy soda or junk, just produce, protein, grain! At the cheapest stores!
No, the election was about licking the boot of fascism or not and just enough moron Amerikkkans voted for fascism. The squealing about prices was always a fucking lie.
False. The entire election was about "voting against having a n****r b***h as president" and lying about it when asked. I was unfortunate enough to hear how they spoke when they thought they were in like minded company.
I just received a letter from my health provider. Medicare won't cover a referral to a dietician unless I have a diagnosis of diabetes. My provider also informed me that I have to agree to pay for all my medical expenses from now on before they will allow me to talk to my doctor again. They'll take Medicare payments if they get them, but I am now self-insured as far as they're concerned. I'm not special, I'm legion. These letters went out to all their Medicare patients.
Last July my electric bill was ~$200. This year, I made a point to power off my desktop at night, and set my AC to 80f before going to work. Still ~$180. I've been sweating for a good half hour while my apartment cools down every evening for....a $20 savings.
You misunderstood, it was about lowering taxes for the 1%. If we do that, the rich help support lowering minimum wages, reducing health care availability, increasing unemployment, increasing tariffs, increasing cost of living for the poor. They have kept their end up so what are you complaining about?
The election was about making latinos suffer, weakening democracy, establishing facism, and siphoning more wealth out of the average American towards billionaires.
I'm tired of the high-brow, bullshit hindsight talk. "But her emails.. imagine if Biden/Obama did that.. remember when he said.."
I know it's rhetorical, but I think we're well past that at this point. The people who needed to be persuaded at this point are either with us, or an idiot.
The voters don't care. Right after Trump lost 2020 his supporters immediately forgot the abysmal economy under Trump. They love to conveniently forget shit.
That’s because it’s easy to talk any crap and half this country is full of ignorant illiterate assholes (and also many highly educated even more evil assholes) who didn’t learn or didn’t care when almost a million people died last time this orange fuck was president
May all who voted for Rump, or didn't vote, enjoy their winnings. I told you he was a Malignant Narcissist, and not to be trusted! Release the Epstein Files!
My electric bill went from 25 bucks a month to 150 this month. I do the whole energy credits thing so that's where the majority of my electricity payment goes. It was a pretty decent savings for a while but if it stays like this there is no sense in keeping that shit anymore....
My electric bill went from ~$100-$150 per month to ~$450-$600 per month since March 2020. Water utility bill has doubled, but my natural gas bill has held steady somehow so far. Same house, less income.
Can you share what part of the bill ballooned? Genuinely curious if it's energy, it some natural disaster related cost, or... Who knows? Utilities are restricted in how they can raise prices, so sometimes they get tricky and you really have to dig on the why.
I'm in Texas. It's lawless bullshit. My rate went from $0.03per kwh to $0.20per kwh. They "deregulated" almost 30years ago which turned the public utility into a full-on business. All of these middle-men billing companies popped up to bust the power transmission company's monopoly. Still the same company transmitting power, but the billing comes from someone else. Basically double billed for the same power provided.
There's a data center planned for Wyoming that could potentially use twice as much energy annually as the entire state combined. Remember how the Repugnicans want to deregulate AI and prevent states from regulating it? This is all by design.
To be fair, as he campaigned, he told his audiences exactly what they wanted to hear, even if what he told one audience completely contradicted what he told another. He played almost everyone who voted for him.
Man, no. How many times do you have to see them go "I'm done with his bullshit" only to turn around and start licking the boot again two weeks later? They DO NOT LEARN. Their entire identity is wrapped up in worshipping their mango messiah and they would rather die than grow up.
Well, in my experience, you’re wrong. At least my die-hard military family in Flint & Detroit have all come around on their own accord. Once they saw him puss out to Putin & throw their lot in with cryptobros, a lot of MAGA broke off. When the military was turned inward, more broke off.
But if you prefer to maintain the divide with insults you’re welcome to, but I’d like you to know that I personally think you’re making it worse
If more people were like your parents we wouldn’t be in this mess.
The real question is whether they are now mistrustful of republicans in general, or only the currently elected ones. I’m from western KS. We’ll elect a cantaloupe to Washington if it runs on the Republican ticket. And when they cantaloupe fails to deliver, it’ll be replaced in the primary with……cantaloupe 2.0. Identical idiotic ideology, but on a face that hasn’t had a chance to make good on its stupidity.
Rest assured, the old Republican Party is cracking over the deficit. A lot of them vote R for lower taxes because they believe they’re paying too much to live in the US, and they’re right. But the trillions added in deficit really shook some old Republicans awake. I think once the young ones realize they aren’t getting that money back in April, more will crack. Here’s to hoping
47% of republican voters openly admitted that they would still vote for Donnie if he’s on the Epstein list. The others would to. They just aren’t admitting it openly.
Hate to break this to everyone but I don't think it matters who's in office. Yes. Some are worse than others. But based on my experience these past few decades. Politicians for the most part are in the business of fucking over the public while rewarding themselves.
As someone who is a mature adult too, I agree with you. We should expect things to go up a little in price year after year, the things that wouldn’t go up are far and few between. Just about every politician uses lowering prices as one of their campaign promises knowing full well that they are powerless over companies and can’t really do much about them. That alone gives them an out when the politicians get called out on their lack of performance on the issue. Repugs, Demorats, they all do it
Damn. You're about the only person in this thread not attacking me for what I thought was a logical conclusion. Guess we'll drown in the downvotes together. Not that they bother me in the least. Thanks for the support regardless.
You really should question why your experience and reality are at odds with each other. Usually it's a sign that you're not paying attention and just mindlessly repeating what you're told to think. Best of luck to you kiddo! :)
My empty wallet. Sky rocketing costs. The health care systems failures. The pharma corporations getting away with murder. I'd say those facts are enough to issue my lack of trust in those we elect. As much as I loved Obama. Those things existed during his time too. Our current baboon and chief is much worse than anyone one before himself. Including himself. This second term scares the fuck out of me to be honest.
I have to hand it to you, you have a breathtakingly ignorant view on this subject. You put very little thought into the subject, did zero research, and proudly declared your empty headed thoughts. Well done. You're fit to be Republican.
Nope. Independent. :) Free to believe what ya want. My statement was simply based on personal observations of how I've perceived events over the last 30 years. As for research. Most information outlets are biased or bullshit. Some biased to left, others right. There are Independent outlets that seem more reliable but it's always hard to say who's giving facts, contextual facts, or outright lies. Fox and CNN are known for being outrageously biased. I dunno who to believe anymore to be honest.
All politicians bad. Wow, such a hot take. I bet this guy's got it all figured out. Let's just run the country without any governance at all and let the chips fall where they may. No idea how that could go wrong...
Oh I'm aware maga is something that is a fucking disgusting cult that should be thrown into the sun. I just haven't felt any kind of love from the powers that be since Obama. Most of congress are corrupt puppets the the top 1 percent or a part of em.
Go back to your gaming, an adult has made a comment that you should at least attempt to understand what their experience has shown them. Don’t be too proud to ask your parents and grandparents if what they say is true.
I have gas heat, dryer, and hot water heater. The gas I use, for a family of four costs, me about $3 to $5 a month when I'm not heating the house. However, with all the fees and bullshit, the gas portion of my bill is about $28 to $30. The cost of the actual gas doesn't even matter, they'll just keep adding fees. Accordingly, the cost for my electricity usage (looking at a recent bill) is $43, but the electric portion of my bill was $85. So, a total of $80 in fees on top of $48 in energy usage.
We use electric for heating and cooling. Electric is always at least $150 reaches over 200 during the cold snaps we've had. We have peak hours, and an inescapable $45 "account fee". Meanwhile the cooperative raffles off brand new trucks every quarter. Water is relatively cheap, usually about $45, city owned utility. My sewage bill is always constant at $92, somehow. Oh and my county decided I own a storm drain that has a leak and is eroding my yard, even though it's public infrastructure.
agreed about septics not about the cost, most places sewer is proportional to consumption, & only on a part of that (inside/outside consumption) & is usually less than the water itself. used to be like that here, but now my sewer is a flat fee & seems to be based on a level of consumption far greater than what i use. makes it hard to care about conserving water when using less doesn't lower your bill
Ah, just looked at my bill, sewer is only a few bucks more than water, not double. And you’re right about no incentive for conservation, looks like my flat rate is 2.5 units and the fact that I only use 1 is irrelevant.
I don't know where you live, so I can't be specific, but *some* delivery fee is reasonable. There's a lot of infrastructure. Gas infra is far less complex, so your numbers track in that regard. (My gas bill breaks out almost the same). Electricity... I don't know how to gauge what a reasonable total delivery fee would be. In Illinois, you can choose a separate energy provider, but it's not enough of a cost difference for residential. I'll have to check my bills to see the current fees.
Gas is $.486/therm, I used 1.1 therms, so $.53 for gas and total bill is $26. Electricity supply cost is $.10/kWh, delivery $.05/kWh, total was $91 this billing cycle. ac is not very efficient for my 1200sq ft place.
