Also lost 60lbs, so that's pretty neat too.
Down vote fairies be damned, I'm alive and functioning, I'm stoked!

FP Edit:
Wow, thanks ya'll!
For those of you asking what the illness was: I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), Bilateral Papilledema, Venous Sinus Stenosis, and also ended up with multiple Pulmonary Embolisms. I'm doing much better after lots of meds, tests/procedures, and time. The blood clots are gone, and now I am learning to live with the Neurological stuff thanks to the meds.

If you are curious: https://nei.nih.gov/health/iih/intracranial

Also: Weight loss started off as "medically necessary" because they believe there is a correlation between being overweight and having IIH. Mine turned out to be unrelated (as I had something physically wrong in my brain) but I kept up with my lifestyle change/diet and am very happy with the progress I made.

and to those that have asked: Yes. I'm single. Ya'll are thirsty and hilarious.

2nd Edit: Yes, I intentionally dress retro, haha that wasn't a happy accident. @jessicarobynretro on instagram for all those wanting more pics.

i love the pic. i love pin up girls....

I haven't worn a fedora in nearly a decade. No, seriously. I really haven't worn a fedora in a decade.

You go, girl!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I literally had this in college! They called it pseudtumor cerebri then, caused by tetracycline (best guess) lots of spinal taps and meds

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yeah! They use the terms fairly interchangeably. They think mine is due to the stenosis, but who really knows.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What makes you think it was caused by tetracycline? Also, what meds did you use? I'm in the same boat currently.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just that it was a known cause and I was not overweight (which is often a cause) I took diamox and lasik (sp?) along with lp's for treatment

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Glad to hear you are doing well now, it is such a random thing and takes forever to get over

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your outfit matches my Christmas tree skirt.

Implying the guy who's starred out in the left pic is an ex who was dropped during the year; the old breakup = weight loss joke.

Guy is my dad who doesn't like the internet. :D

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

My aunt has inter-cranial hypertension (pseudo tumor cerebra). Hers is from an excessive amount of cerebral fluids.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yep. That's what it is. Psuedo-tumor and IIH are used somewhat interchangeably. Spinal taps and meds keep the spinal fluid at bay.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She takes medications, but requires regular monitoring. There's been a couple of times she's come close to them considering using a shunt

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep. Shunts/stents/eye fenestration surgery have all been discussed. I tolerate the meds well enough though so that's what we're going with.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What I like is that you were happy in both, Despite not knowing what was happening in pic 1, you still had a smile on your face. :)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Aww thanks! That was my "I may be in the hospital on New Years, but at least I've got drugs!" Face... :)

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Something not quite right with her chocolate pocket

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension, Venous Sinous Stenosis, Bilateral Papilledema, and multiple pulmonary embolisms!

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Lots of procedures, meds, and time later and it's manageable!

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Oh jeez, yeah that doesn't sound like fun. I'm glad you're feeling better and managing the mystery!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Sucks that they didn't find out the cause of the hypertension.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They think it's related to the Venous Sinous Stenosis but at this point aren't sure which causes the other...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also love the username. One of my favorite songs

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haha, just added the FP edit with details.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I'm glad you're alright now. I wish you a bright future.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Do you mind sharing what treatment you used for IIH? I am on Diamox now and it's effect is just moderate.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Diamox as well. I went up to 2000mg daily. Spinal taps as needed to drain fluid. If you are overweight, try losing, it helps some people.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm down to 3000mg from a high of 5000mg (FDA max is only 4000!) The pressure still isn't fully under control so I've been looking around

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh wow. That's rough. I'm surprised you are tolerating that high a dosage. Check out the IIH facebook group. People are super helpful!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thank you.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My son had IIH when he was in early teens, then known as PTC. I know it can be debilitating. My son's fine now.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yep. It's definitely awful. I'm glad to hear he is doing better!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1
