The distraction I need

Fp edit: Thanks everyone for your support and fake internet points. Wasn't doing this for notoriety. I used confession bear because I normally wouldn't put my business out there like this, but now I see my wrongdoing. My apologies for not using success kid lol. If anyone wants to PM me about depression/addiction, Pokemon Go, or just in general please feel free.

Same! Keep it up op. I passed multiple gas stations and resisted the urge to go buy a pack of cigarettes

This is how I feel about geocaching. It's really helped me figure my shit out and i get to see cool places on the way.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's this new hypothesis that addiction is less about habit and more about having something to bond with. Sounds about right.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Go OP!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have walked, biked and caught sunlight more than the whole rest of the summer, so I call it a win. Also, I'm a pokemon trainer

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Congrats!! Addiction did awful things to my family and anything that helps you stay off is a good thing for you and your loved ones.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Yay! :)

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

These kind of posts make me so happy! I love seeing how everyone is benifiting from Pokemon Go! Cause My sweetheart and I have as well^^

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Keep it up OP! For the first 6 months really it is just about staying too busy and tired after that it gets easier. 5 1/2 years clean here

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Congrats! Proud of you! Now I'm working towards being proud of myself.

People who bitch about "using the wrong meme" spend too much time online. Fuck'em, enjoy yourself.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha yeah I lurk a bit but I've never really posted something that was a meme. Also never thought it would be FP material.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good stuff man. You're not alone if you open up and ask for help you'll get it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My wife actually told me that she enjoyed all the time we were spending together, we've just been running around outside hunting pokemon

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yeah it's actually brought me and my boyfriend a lot closer

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nice work @OP!!! Keep it up and catch em all

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Only Pokemon Go I have upvoted so far. Good job!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had a baby death in the family this week, Pokemon Go has distracted me from sad thoughts and kept me emotionally stable through it all.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a fellow human who struggles with the same: Stay strong @OP!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Could've gone with Success Kid here.

The thing with vices is that you just need to have one that's socially acceptable.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same here. Was so exhausted from hatching 2 5km eggs and hunting all day that I came home and went to sleep instead of drinking.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That sounds just like my night. I usually drink to fall asleep but I passed right out.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Gotta catch em all!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

sometimes its best to let yourself be addicted to something healthy even if its still addiction my saviour was eve online we all got a vice.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I got the cops called by neighbors thinking I was taking pictures or their house in the middle of the night!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

For replacing an addiction with another one, I encourage this (as long as you're safe!!!) and find it adorable.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OP killed two shitty birds with one very effective stone.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In a similar boat myself. These past 3 days Pokemon Go has distracted me from my depression and lifted my spirits for the 1st time in months

9 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 2

It's amazing how games can make you forget about all of your struggles.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not to mention how they can give you a reason to get up in the morning, goals to work towards, and a sense of purpose.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Go has helped me in the same way. I've actually been more social with other people who have been roaming the city i stay in.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, and it's so much easier to talk to strangers about Pokemon than about life. No awkwardness because there's already a connection there.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Incorrect. You indulged your Pokemon vice all weekend!

9 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 8

Doesn't say anything about indulgement. He coulda smoked crack all weekend without thinking about it.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Baby steps. A vice but a much less harmful vice

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

It's not a vice since it isn't harmful but it is an addiction.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Voce doesn't need be harmful, just "wicked, or immoral".

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well I mean I've been playing this series since I was 10, it's like any other game series, it can be mentally addicting def.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You let him have this!

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Let him?! I'll fight anyone who tries to take it away! I am a vice enabler and I rarely discriminate!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It you have an addictive personality, focus on getting addictions that are good for you

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Buddy it's so true; you get outside for a walk, and suddenly you're alright... everything is fixed. Just add a few of those together!

9 years ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 5

I highly doubt that big problems are fixed by this.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sunny ways my friend, sunny ways!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I haven't felt motivated to go outside in a long time. And I've met lots of cool people!

9 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

I've realized I've been enabling my depression and social/anxiety by isolating myself and not venturing outside my comfort zones. 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/2 i've played a bunch over the weekend and have had a lot of fun despite how uncomfortable it makes me walking around in public playing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Need a 3rd. It's really expanding my comfort zone and I may soon interact with other players. Good luck OP, if you need to talk PM me. (:

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same. I have been in a deep depression for a couple weeks now. Walking in the sun yesterday for a couple hours didn't fix it but much better

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same. My normal routine is going to work and coming home and staying on my couch all night and then repeat. It's been lonely.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The game is a good distraction from the tribulations of life. I feel ya, man.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I live in Florida so it's been hot as fuck but it was sorta nice to sweat that much by choice lol.

9 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 1

Good god it is hot here. The heads been killing me. What part I Florida are you in

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tampa/Brandon

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wow, I'm from Florida too. And a recovered drug addict, good on you man.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Amen brother, I live in Ottawa (Canada), and the humidity makes for a hot day in the summer here too. Sweating it out is the best thing!

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Better than that, get yourself into a gym; for me it was a life-saver... it gives you a goal to achieve every day.. that's what you need!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yeah I do feel like I do a lot better with goals and purpose. A lotta times it's like the goal is a chore but now it's motivation and fun.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Damn right buddy; you need those goals... hang onto them like a life-preserver; i know you can make them fun... it's one step up everyday!

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Yay, keep up your Pokemon journey and kick those vices in their dicks. You can do it @OP, I believe in you.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thank you!!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i love your username too btw.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha I have a slight obsession with unicorns. Your username is pretty cool too though.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've used it for almost every site and game I join since I started playing Gaia in like 2004-2005ish I think. I have tons of unicorn stuff.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it works for you then kudos and congrats. Keep it up! This coming from someone who has no clue what the deal is w/Pokemon. I'm too old.

9 years ago | Likes 940 Dislikes 14

Is there a gif of peter saying "it's awsome" to chris? this would be perfect. (family guy)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm 28, never got into the pokemon craze, and have no intention of starting now. To each their own right?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm 36, never played a Pokemon game, and was outside all weekend playing Go.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Too old? No such thing!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It speaks to two basic principles that make up most humans. Collection and fighting. Also: They range from cute to cool to menacing.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My first sergeant is in his 50s and he was playing it this drill weekend 0.o never too old :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't care about Pokemon so there's that.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'm 57 and thinking about getting a smart phone just so I can play it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I never liked Pokemon before, yesterday installed the app out of curiosity.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm 32. Never once played pokemon until 5 days ago. It's awesome.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

YOU'RE NEVER TOO OLD FOR POKEMON!!!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You're never too old to Google something.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I just never really got into Pokemon, I was more of a Mario fan as a kid.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a fun little pastime, even if you're just collecting the Pokemon.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nobody cares, Sean

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I'd love to play, cheap ass phone isn't compatible :(

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm 34, and my problem, when it first got popular in the US, was I was only interested in "cool" stuff and Pokemon was too kiddy for my >

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

you're never too old to be young

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Im@49 & play!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

An old lady and her middle aged son saw my group playing and stopped us to talk about their gameplay experience. Its never too late for fun!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a very simple way to encourage physical activity by stimulating the same parts of our brain other mobile games do.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

People are getting a bit over-excited with the pokemon sharing and all, but on the whole pokemon go is doing good for a lot of people.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm closer to 40 than 30 and I find it fun...

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I convinced my non-gamer husband to play and he groaned when he realized we had to go outside. Caught 2 Pokemon though. :)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You collect exotics pets and command them in battles with other people's pets. It's like dog fighting but at least three times better.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

this is the best description i've ever read. EVER.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you have a recent phone it really doesn't cost anything to get an idea of what GO is like other than data. You don't need to pay to enjoy

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's more or less a scavenger hunt, but running across other people playing it really adds something, similar to the feeling at card shops.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People who loved Pokémon since the start are likely in their 30ths.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You run around collecting little animals that can fight. They get better and the fights get more tactical. That's it. Not very complicated.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

to me its more, I met like 50 people last night, and we just chilled, the social part is so cool

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, I'm actually looking forward to it being released here in Germany.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Never too late to find a new hobby!

9 years ago | Likes 352 Dislikes 2

*addiction But so long as you're more okay with it, that's good! :D

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 32

I got my 64 year old father interested in the game. It can be for anybody!

9 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 0

A new hobby like drugs!

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 8

My sister works at a flag factory and is the youngest person there at 33. She texted me this morning asking how to download Pokemon Go 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

with .apk again (Canada) because all her coworkers want it this morning. (2/2)

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most millennials grew up watching pokemon, constantly dreaming of tracking down our own, it's like a childhood dream come true for us

9 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 1

Do 90's count kids as millenials too, then? Because I sure as hell have been with pokemon since 1996 and I am all about Pokemon Go! :D

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Original pokemon came out when I was 8 so this was always a dream for me :D

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

same !

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

millennial mɪˈlɛnɪəl/ noun plural noun: millennials a person reaching young adulthood around the year 2000.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm almost 50, and I wanna try it when it finally comes to Canada.

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I'm 49 & love it! Both my daughters & 4 yr old grandson play...we'll go walking together and to parks!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you are on iPhone, you can create a new Apple ID for US AppStore and download the app. I'm from India and installed it yesterday.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks, figured that out about 5 minutes after I wrote that. It hit me that there had to be away around. I've been walking around since 4am.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don't have to wait you could download the apk

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thanks for jostling my interest. Found a way to steal it from the US App Store.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can't, using an iPhone.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's not in your App Store yet?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It is not, but I just found a way to steal it from the US App Store.
