One on one, knight probably wins. Force on force, medieval Japan probably wins against medieval Europe due to mounted archers.

My bet is on mounted cavalry. Arrows, no matter from how strong a bow won't go through plate armor. Hell, they'll have trouble with chain

Shields also work great against arrows and knights had archers as well. Also gonna drop this here. https://youtu.be/Ej3qjUzUzQg

When I mean force on force I mean a standard European army vs a standard Japanese army. Very few armored knights

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well in that case it would be a bunch of spearmen on spearmen for the most part with archers and Calvary striking where they could

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly, but that's why a large group of talented cavalry archers wins

the old age Samurai vs Knight debate. Katana was a cutting weapon. not for stabbing. a chainmail is plenty good against that. A gambeson 1/2

But what will you do when he svers you ateriex in the craveges?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

eh...what?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

does also great unless the katana is razorsharp. Full plate armor is not that heavy and mobility is more than adequate. I would like to 2/3

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Between 25 and 35 kg and i recently learnt that it was about the same for the kind of Armor the guy put a picture on

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

35 kg over the whole body is not bad imho. iirc a samurai armor was about the same weight

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAzI1UvlQqw Highly recommended, a race between fireman, modern soldier and knight

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was cool. But I feel like just going based on weight skewed it a bit. The soldier and fireman were slowed by the bulk at some points, >

i know that one. interesting results. you know the youtubers Shadyversity, Skallagrim, Lindybeige and Schola Gladiatora? Good HEMA and 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

see a trained knight in full plate agains a samurai. Would be interesting to say the least

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Well I'd say the Knight got the advantage, in the way that samurais doesn't have a sword made for stabbing (as opposed to the longsword) 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

But we gotta keep in mind that those bitches BOTH had access to an arsenal of weapons. I also wonder WHY the Samuraï armor is more about 2/3

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I would inagine the samurai would win, if he pulled a dagger out, and went for grappling, since he would have better freedom of movement due

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

big flat parts. Maybe it does have a better mobility than the european armour.
