Does this count as art? I copy real life graffiti on my N scale model trains. This is my most recent piece.

We need a banana for N scale

Your piece, as a(n unlicensed) derivative work, made me go down a little bit of a rabbit hole of copyrightability of illegal graffiti.

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Yeah, it's got a wide rang of arguments on the subject.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh wow, that is indeed a rabbit hole. I need to spend some time reading it!

Banksy bankers be like

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You copied that onto an *N-Scale Boxcar*? That is beyond impressive to me. N scale cars are barely bigger than a large Hot Wheels car.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Uh, what are the scales? I remember having milk crates if tracks to put all through the house & O which circled a Christmas tree & was huge

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I did! It took many, many, many hours! And quite a few fixed attempts along the way. I wish I kept track of the paint layer count!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Most cool .I have a sketchbook with train carriges from major International cities

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's such a fun idea! I keep my camera with me anytime I'm going to be near trains... not quite as personal, but I also like capturing!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is art and it is awesome.

3 years ago | Likes 138 Dislikes 1

Thank you!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not only is it art it's art preservation in micro.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Ooh, art preservation! I like that angle!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

This reminds me of the guy who does "wrecked” versions of cars as scale models.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nifty!

Thanks!

‘N scale’ are the little trains, right? That’s so awesome! I want to see all of the street art trains!!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yup, N scale is very small! This boxcar is under 4 inches in length (about 10cm).

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That’s amazing! That’s a LOT of detail on such a small train! You’re very talented!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is awesome, I love checking out the graffiti as a train rolls by. Here's my most recent favorite :)

China is asoe!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks! That's a fun one, too! I get all of my inspiration from pictures of railcars that I take locally. There's so much variety out there!

We have formed a union and we have a list of demands: 1. Post more of this.

Nice! That’s the same artist- King 157!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, I saw them going through the Tehachapi loop but wasn't fast enough to get a pic of the one you did :)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Definitely does. Both cause you have patience for N-scale work and to copy graffiti at this scale

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Thank you!

How long did you have to Train to be this good

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I see what you did there. Also, I started the N scale graffiti about 18 months ago.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry I have a problem but the art is clever and something relatable and different we need a bit of different keep up the good work

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha, it made me laugh! And thank you. I really appreciate your kind words!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your welcome

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that's it right there, the best

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wow, thank you so much!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know the art is awesome when it opens up a whole new genre for you that you didn't even realize you wanted in your life

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes’s

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Neat. You seen this dude's decals? https://www.uschivdr.com/shopping-categories/shop-graffiti-marble-decals/

I hadn't seen them before. Those are unbelievable! Thanks for the link!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dam you.. Now I need to look at al;l; his webpage!!!!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

There's some cool ass graffiti on the side of a couple industrial buildings near me. I'll never remember but I wish I could show you pics

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

One of em is the one that grabs you, it's like a 20 foot tall lady posing with a snake around her, lots of red and black, it's cool as fuck

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Cool! Can you post a photo here in the comments? I’d love to see it!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I will try my best. I'm headed that way later but, I may not remember

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But if I pull through you gotta know I popped out of my car on my way to my mom's place to get a pic! (This will help me remember)

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Understood! Looking forward to seeing it!

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's plagiarism. But yes, also art.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Isn't it only plagiarism if you try to claim it as your own?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think forgery is more correct.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I prefer HO, myself. Milwaukee Road freelance, transiition era.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They each have their strengths and weaknesses, but they're all model trains so I like them all!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was an HO guy for years. Just made the switch to N a couple years ago. I love the smaller size but I miss the popularity of HO scale.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am in 0 primarily, Depression era NYC/Erie.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh, I'm also starting to collect some Postwar stuff! I started with HO when I was 5 (Dad gave me a dummy ALCO S2 to use), moved to his 1/?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

MPC-era stuff when I was like 8 or 9. My workhorse is a DT&I 8111, tough little thing, and a Marx 1666 for a "road" loco with a Lionel

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

tender. I'm clearing space now to set it all up, after I bought some accessories at a swap meet last spring. (Coal ramp, diesel coal loader,

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Portal gantry crane, and milk car). This year I hope to get some more stuff. My Holy Grail, though, is an original Standard Gauge Blue Comet

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cool! I'm working through a box of Lionel stuff to sell at the moment. I've never done anything with O but it's been fun to learn about!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

if you have any of them in your area, Menards makes inexpensive rolling stock, and but the build quality is SOLID.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is a massive discourse in the art community around “what gets to be art?” The consensus is whatever you want to be is art. Nice work!

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I want this to be art!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So what’s really fun is that you get to call yourself an artist. Claim that mantle for yourself! Say it into a mirror! Good luck!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks! The title and the fake internet points are a high honor! I just wish I had a mantle. :/

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

graffiti is art , so its furry porn , so are fanfictions , quality can vary in these a lot tho. but its art , cooking is also art.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Everything can be art to the right person. As art is deeply personal so if you think it's art than for you, it is. If it is for someone ->

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

else then it is. People do not have to agree if it is art for it to be art. For art is subjective, so everything is art and nothing is.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

indeed
