Nostalgia crits you for 1999 points of damage!

With all the nostalgia posts going on today I can't help but think back to my first MMORPG! It's time to take a trip down memory lane!

But first, in the spirit of EverQuest, we have to load first, of course. (I can hear the music already!)

Yep! Another loading screen! You kids have it easy today with your fast loading and seamless zones. Back in my day, we worried about someone picking up the phone and disrupting the internet! It'd take us twenty minutes to log back in again!

Do you young pups remember Hogger from your MMO days? Well Fippy is his grandfather! For near on two decades he's relentlessly assaulted the Qeynos gates, cutting a swath through all newbies in his way! Now that's dedication!

4k? 2k? We played at good old 640x480 and we by god we liked it! At least we weren't spellcasters and still got to see what was happening around us!

I'm not kidding, you literally stared at this for hours on end to regen mana! Thankfully it was replaced later in the game.

Remember this place? I think I spent the majority of my youth in that castle.

You haven't seen savagery and greed until you've seen 30+ Adventurers ruthlessly committing genocide against these creatures. But you know what they say, 20 plat is 20 plat.

Fast Travel? Please! Back in our day you had to walk everywhere or wait for these suckers to show up! God forbid you fell off/through it though, or it failed to spawn after zoning, or you aggroed something through it. Only the strong survived travelling!

And speaking of travelling, we had hell of a way to go! Even before more continents were added, and a moon, and the planes of power, and... well you get the picture.
