Looking for a bit of support..

Jan 13, 2021 8:45 AM

So, I woke to a desire to text my Mom and explain where I am in my mental health and my journey. Whether or not she accepts me, I felt like this needed to be done.

I've been crying on and off since I sent the message.

She's never been the type to show any concern for my well-being, or even be supportive of LGBTQIA+ individuals. ( She married a Racist asshole.. ) But this is my childish hope that she'll come around and actually care about me. I apologize for the emotional post, but I'm adjusting to my hormones and new meds. So I'm struggling a bit.

Does anyone have any advice?

Enjoy all the clothes with big pockets.

Sometimes, when your family doesn't come through for you, others will step in.

You can't choose your family. I have a brother who i hate with all my heart, but people don't seem to understand that.

The only validation we ever need is our own... you sound like you know who you are and that you're happy with that. Have a great day.

Regardless of your mom's response, it sounds like you're on the right path for you. You got this. Wishing you all the best on your journey!

Moms are hard. Lots of biological, social and conditioning elements work together to keep them in our head even if all the logic and pain...

pain in the world says you should let go. Regardless of how she responds, it's okay if you have trouble moving on. You are enough.

Look to the people in your life that supports you and put your love and energy there. As for your mom, forgiveness is hard, give it time 1/2

And even if she is not willing/equipped to support you right now, keep the door open, or atleast unlocked. You never know, she might change.
