Be proud of the little things, the big things, and everything inbetween!

Edit: massive thanks for all the support! And, I see many americans that cannot take an extended sick leave without losing their job, and it really saddens/sickens me. Things really need to change across the pond, from what i read here on imgur it sounds like a complete nightmare.

Good for you!

I was unemployed for about 11 months due to covid. Panic was super intense. I almost couldn't leave the house.

No bad days, just bad moments in a day

I was in the same situation a couple months back. Give it a week, it’ll feel normal and routine very soon

I remember that day. It was probably one of the most frightening things I have ever done. Congrats on the first step

Nj keep it up. Staying employed is the best way to get through the next step. Work on yourself and take time to celebrate success.

I didn't even need to see your username to know you're not American.

Sounds like my day too! And I was out for just three weeks!

I'm so proud of you. I can't even go to the store alone without struggling right now.

I got fired after three days off for food poisoning. And that was with a Doctor's Note saying I shouldn't work.

No union?

If you get through getting ready, you can do the commute. Get through that, you can make it in the door. Baby steps my friend!

I’m on sick leave again, but for the first time it’s not my mental wellness in the way. I’ve lost 2.5 years in the last 12. Still keeping on

Hey I’ve taken a couple long leaves of absence from a job (that I eventually got fired from). How do you deal with the guilt of not working?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Honestly i don't have any guilt. We are all replaceable. I know my Job well, and i am damn good at it, but it would not be safe for me,

Hi I’m sorry I’m just responding, my executive function wasn’t very function-y. Loved your comments, thank you and be well.

My co-workers or my patients had i not taken a leave. If that means a less experienced person takes my place in the meantime

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's okay. You have to think about yourself in context, and in my reasoning, my work place was better off without me for a time.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

For me, it comes from understanding that it’s mostly out of my control. I do everything that I can to recover, and accept that some aspects

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

are out of my control, and are up to my brain chemistry. I try to busy myself in creative outlets, getting outdoors, or home projects.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Can I ask how you distinguish between the “can’t control” and “can control”?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can’t control the fact that I have clinical depression. I can’t control the relationship stresses that living with me caused.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can’t control that I need meds. I can, however, take them regularly, eat right, sleep and hydrate properly.
