What makes this a drone and not a radio controlled airplane...?

A thesaurus?
Really, that is what we are going with? Dang... meh, I guess since is sounds "cooler" . lame
Short answer is IDK. I do feel like "drone" has become synonymous with RC-noun these days.
At this point, I don't know what would constitute an uav, drone or remote control. Because they all share attributes of each.
This is closest to a mix between the two! The drone's movements were controlled by programming a flight path before and during the flight
The drone has a camera on it that is controlled via a RC remote
NCPBullet
Well if it's flight path is either pre programed or generated via an algorithm vs radio commands from user input
MrTooHi
So what is the purpose of a drone pilot?
Adding waypoints or minimum control while most functions are autonomous. Like a predator drone pilot will use/control the camera while 1/2
The drone itself will be holding a loitering pattern and keeping the drone flying smoothly.
