They added two toll lanes on the highway I take to work recently, now I have to make a choice every day: To take it or not to. I made a comic about it.

And they designed it so it's a pain in the ass to get out and take your exit cause you can't cross the double line. Fuck the toll lane!

America has "luxury streets" that you have to pay for extra? WTF is your country?! We Germans start bitching if the limit is 120 km/h.

The 405 is just fucked. It's paved out of pure evil. Cursed be ye who drive on there. (Sadly it's the only way for me to get to work)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Marylander, I know this pain.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seattle? Thanks Inslee

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I once paid $12 for the express lanes. The regular lanes ended up getting closed down with a 3 hour delay. Sometimes it's worth it

Cross Island Parkway sign says "Best Way to Bronx." Always says Throggs Neck Bridge. Whitestone is 4th after swimming and trebuchet.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You must be Eastsider (Seattle metro) the WSDOT is the biggest organized crime entity in the whole state

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm glad I don't have to touch 405. But the 405 issues have FAR reaching effects to 520, 5, and 90. Also, enjoy game days. Like today! :(

Download Waze. It'll tell you how bad traffic is and accidents with updates from drivers who are stuck in the mess so you don't have to be.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hah you live in Seattle, I take it?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I77 in North Carolina soon enough.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I live in Bellevue and work all around the Sound. So. Fucking. Frustrating!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fun fact the higher the toll the more traffic is on it, the lower the toll means less traffic. They adjust the rates to correct the flow.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I can't tell if that's better or worse than the crazy people I sit next to on public transit every day

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Worse. I take transit, used to drive. On transit can put in my headphones, be in my own world, don't have to pay attention to driving

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a Seattleite I appreciate this.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This is story of my life!!! Everett to factoria everyday!!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ouch.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

580 just added one, I will concider it once it goes over the Altamont

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

One of the things I enjoy about living in a smaller city

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 0

The only toll thing near me is the bridge to VA.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The small city I'm from still takes 30 minutes to get from one end to the other because the interstate does not go through it.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The whole state I am in takes 1 hour to get through, from the two farthest points

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So teeny!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

405 Toll lanes are complete and total bullshit.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I've since moved but I love the 110 toll lanes. Why do the 405 ones suck

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just shows how fucked the roads are. And not transit wants a bigger budget! Wtf!? People, stop moving to Seattle!!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seattle?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Bellevue to be more precise.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

seriously.... FUCKKKKKK THOSE TOLL LANES! Taking 2 lanes away from those who refuse to pay their highway blood money. Fuck them

9 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 3

Not only that, but once near bothell/woodinville, 405 goes down to 2 lanes and ETL goes to 1. Still going to be stuck in traffic lol.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

heh, blood money is right. The Goverment Lacky in charge of that project was fired for corruption or something.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

From my location I've been able to skip 405 by taking either HWY 9 to Wood-Duvall or 202. No 405 bs between me and Redmond now. No $10 toll.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey! I live off of Mink Road!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish I lived there! I live in Lake Stevens and work right by downtown Redmond.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

@OP, Where on the 405 did they start adding toll lanes??

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is 405 in Seattle. Goes from Bellevue to Lynnwood. That is if this is the 405 you are thinking of.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh ok. I thought you were talking about Los Angeles :)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's the real 405

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fuck the 405, I live in Renton and avoid it like the plague it is.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There was much rejoicing when they removed the stupid double-white line further south on 167. What idiot brought it back on 405?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think what non-Seattleites need to notice is the HOV is 3+ not the standard 2+. Annoying as fuck.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is another place midwest wins. I can take surface roads - at 55 - the whole way to work, with very little traffic and few intersections

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

All about the 494

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or you can live in so cal and work from home. Win win

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've lived in the Midwest almost my entire life and I have no idea what a toll lane is. Can you explain?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I-70 the first 20 miles west into Kansas.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Basically, one lane of the freeway is reserved for people that pay a toll or by an access pass ahead of time.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah but then you have to live in the Midwest

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Hrm. 10 miles to a large city, 10 miles to middle of nowhere farms. Forests and suburbs between. It's very nice. Cheap, too.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's pretty nice tbh

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Have you ever been within thirty miles of a feedlot?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not the entire Midwest is extreme rural. Large portions are heavily urbanized, and others moderately so.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is this a nice comic?

We don't have those in Australia, so this isn't a problem.

9 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 2

Same in the UK, closest I can think of is the M6 toll, which acts as a toll bypass of the M6 around birmingham. I've used it.. 3 times.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yea we occasionally have toll roads in the UK, or toll bridges, but not a choice

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Before anyone gets excited oz does have toll roads just not toll lanes http://www.travelvictoria.com.au/victoria/tollroads/

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Never seen one here before.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

He literally posted a website link to one. Ive never seen a crocodile in person doesnt mean they dont exist.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Oh god

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Wtf are u saying m8, we have 'em here in Sydney and the governments get literally millions monthly and they still want to raise taxes

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm in Victoria, so maybe it's that. Maybe it's because fuck you xD our weather is bad enough, don't want bad traffic too.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It's already bad enough traffic, you get 2 or 3 lanes on each side and they let people park on the sides which reduces the size even more

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh boy. There's a bridge that goes across a river onto the ring road. It took me 30 minutes to get from one side to the other.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Once took us 2 hours to get into the city and we traveled 7 km

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Why u ask? Well because there are only 2 ways of getting into the city: harbor bridge or tunnel so when 1 becomes blocked hell ensues

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I just started taking 405->5 instead of 522 and I noticed this issue... I don't take the toll lanes, but it's quite frustrating to watch.

9 years ago | Likes 93 Dislikes 0

Ugh, we need to nuke 405 and 167 from orbit and start again; rebuild without the hubris of man and the knowledge of history.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Godspeed to both of you, I miss that area but never the traffic.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I drive N405 in the morning and S in the evening

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Heyyy me too! This is why I avoid 405 at all costs, & screw the 520 bridge. Up and around the lake is easier and more scenic.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Since this toll lane even side street are messed up! hate it! same for the 520 bridge..they are never gonna stop it. temp my ass!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate that I know you're right

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Living in SoCal I was confused by 522 when talking about the 405&5. None of which have tolls. Also that you don't put "the" in front of them

9 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

No it's not "the" it's just 405

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

Me too!! I really could not figure it out. I thought maybe I just exceptionally had no spatial awareness

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was looking for this comment. The 522 is similar to the 10 during rush hour. It doesn't matter if you take toll or not, it's going to suck

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lol I was thinking the same thing!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's people from where i live! Fuck 405 S big time. Especially around the 167 off ramp. And also fuck that 520 to 5 exit.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My commute is Avondale to 520 to I5 to Mercer Way. Fucking kill me.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I commute Mukilteo to Renton. I hate it. Though, I had to call WSDOT to get an extension on my toll payment, they instead just removed it!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ugh lucky. I get fucked woth the tolls.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry! Maybe give it a try once? She said something about it being a toll forgiveness thing that they can do once. Saved me $65

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe i should. I never have need of 520 anymore but if it comes up i will

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My bf lives in Mukilteo! I've got a small taste of the roads there on my visits.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

520 to 5 is a hellhole. Especially considering I have to hop right over to the mercer exit off 5S

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate that exit immediately after you get on and you have to cross 4 lanes of bumper to bumper traffic to get to.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's just an accident waiting to happen.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I swear to god someone almost rammed into me switching into my lane without looking

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That sounds like Dallas, can't say how many times I've almost been hit

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

Moved to Everett from Phoenix and can't get passed this crazy 60 MPH speed limit on the 5

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I live and work in Bellevue, and I don't drive. Thank god I don't have to deal with the traffic.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm sure there will be toll lanes on 5 some day.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Are the express lanes through the city not enough?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Those will be the ones getting tolled if anything lol

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If those ever get tolled I will lose my fucking shit.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Only a matter of time. Maybe that light rail they want to build all over the place will help in 20 years
