Ok, right now all classes were to be canceled and all students were recommended to make their way home. All day it have been snowing and blowing quite a lot, which isnt really so unusual, I live in northern Sweden after all. But it feels so strange when school is actually canceled.

FP Edit: I really don't know how I got here, but thanks I guess

I have lived in N Sweden all my life, and this has never happened in all my life

I heard that the wild ride is also coming to finland. Is it really that bad?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

So true. It only ever happened twice during my 12 years of school in Ume.

School is also out all across the America! Weather notwithstanding. I suspect conspiracy!

So does that cancel the bus orgy too?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right? In southern states school gets canceled if there's a HINT of snow. Schools in the north laugh at three ft. "30 min delay start"

Some 20 years ago we got over 100 cm (3 ft 3")in one night. it was -38 C (-36,4F), and I still rode my bike to school. Also in Sweden.

So in this event are students provided with a gps tracking device?

No, only the strong survive.

I work in northern Russia - school cancellation only below -40°C. nobody cares if you're able or not to get to school due to snowfall.

As someone that grew up in moderate climates I've always hated you bastards that got to stay home and play in the snow.

I snow that's right!

I live in Fargo, it takes a lot for school to get canceled here too. Needs to feel like ‘end of days’ kind of weather.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I heard reports of winds up to 150kmph up North...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's pretty similar to Newfoundland. The only time we loose school to weather is when it's blowing so heavily that the busses can't move.

I went to elementary in NFLD, but hs in New Brunswick, I remember one year (maybe grade 10?) we had 12 snow days. They're pussies here!

I understand in Colorado we get a annual blizzard and that’s our only school day ever it’s like 50% of our snow all year in one day

What? I live i northen Sweden and have to work at school tomorrow..

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In Poland it happened once for me and it was only for grammar school. When it was below -30 Celsius. But no exceptions for for other shools.

Alla bästa från tyskland! Skicka något snö hos oss, vi behöver mer snö här!!

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Wie oft gibt es Schnee in Deutschland?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Om du är i norra tyskland, knappast alls. I södra tyskland finns det mer snö i vintern, men inte så mycket som i Sverige. Mesta är regn.

I lived in Gatineau and had to go to school during the ice storm of '98. I think I can count on one hand the number of snow days we had

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yea but we had 40 km to get to school and there was 4” of ice on everything and no electricity

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ha, nerds.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

happened to me once when i was young in iceland, storm was so bad that police and rescue squad were sent to drive kids home from school

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they had those huge modded trucks on tires half my adult size. it was scary that those cars had a hard time plowing though the snow.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember that storm, fucking awesome. But 35cm sounds... not enough? I remember the piles of snow being at least a meter tall.
