The flying mandolin.

saw it on Leno's car show... someone outside had to close the door for him... got hung up on the small dip between the parking lot and road

Hnng. How did they come up with something in 1970 that looks like what 1986 thought we'd be driving in 2002?

6 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Is this the one from Michael Jackson’s collection?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The Future is...50 years ago.

And it was terribly uncomfortable.

That's actually my pinewood derby

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hell of a piece of work. Not even the fact that it was the basis for Michael Jackson's car form in Moonwalker can spoil it.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

From the outside it looks like a doorstop. From the inside it feels like a magnified sunbeam

Now I know where the Hot Wheels came from.

Love those curves?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lol limited peripheral vision and zero rear-view vision.. sounds like a great idea

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is it called the HF Zero because when they asked who would actually want/feel safe driving it the response was "Hard Fuckin Zero"?

Nice

Another car could ramp up the front while a celebrity chef uses that vent on the back to slice very fine potato chips.

Wanted. The movie

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or... the ramp is for pedestrians... the mandolin on the back is for julienne-ing them.

A better use of this car i have yet to hear.

6 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

It’s a Lancia, so driving it hard until it breaks after just a few miles also crosses one’s mind

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Exactly what I thought, verbatim.

Rare case of the production car being better looking than the prototype:

Looks horrifically uncomfortable and almost impossible to drive and I still really want one.

6 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

so. like an aventador, only 50 years ago

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most supercars honestly. Still lust after them though.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember when Michael Jackson transformed into this?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hell yea! Michael Jackson’s “Moonwalker”

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Wasnt this in silver in Moonwalker?!?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is all I'll remember of this car https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jXoaJdbkns

Not that I am an expert but would it not be better if the door opened at the opposite side so the wind resistance would keep it shut?

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Because, like, i've heard about suicide doors, that kinda seems like the same thing but at a different angle.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

The Zero stands for zero visibility

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Looks cool until you see it with the door open.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think you mean window. Does that really count as a door? I dont know, maybe, maybe it's the windshield, you decide.

Proof we really didn’t understand aerodynamics in the 70’s

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Why? Do you have data suggesting this is worse than the basic box cars in the 70's?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Practically all the early wedge cars have aerodynamics of a barn door but unlike the boxes they look like they were designed to be slick.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Wedge front, kamm tail, can't see much wrong other than maybe a lack of lower spoiler/splitter? It has actual race DNA in it after all.

As long as you're in first place, nothing behind you matters.

6 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 1

I would think that would hold more true if you were in last place

You gon get lapped

Except for the traffic jam/ accidents caused by people avoiding your reckless driving

Revert back to the previous comment.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Does anyone know what that lumpy motorcycle cylinder head looking thing next to the exhaust pipes is?

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The balls of whoever is driving a car with no mirrors or rear or side windows.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm no mechanic but it looks like a part of the gearbox/diff assembly. That's my educated guess due to it being a mid mounted engine.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The case moulding has the right kind of shapes, to be sure, and it's central, but it's an awful long way back from both engine and axles...

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hopefully a grease monkey will see this question cause i'm curious about it too. :P

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Maybe an oil cooler, for a shared engine/transmission/diff oil system?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is it just me or does this look like one of those tiny models cleverly photographed to seem large?

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Had to scroll SO FAR to find this. It 100% looks like a miniature to me

There's 2 of us! it's like dozens but less

Is that a stick-on external rear view mirror??

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pretty sure there is only one.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, that's awesome! I wish I would see one in the flesh....

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Quite the car. Though what really excited me was finding the REO Speedwagon :P https://imgur.com/9Z36xBq

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Do you have more photos?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

of the Speedwagon, or from the museum itself?
